People Magazine’s newest cover  features 6 missing children that have disappeared this year. One of them is Florida boy,  Adji Desir.

Remember Adji,  the little boy who has been missing since January 10, 2009?  There has been virtually no media coverage on his case for months.   “Ji Ji” was visiting his grandmother in Imokalee, Florida while his mother was at work when he simply disappeared without a trace. He was last seen at around 5:15 PM playing with other children in front of his grandmother’s house.

There have been no witnesses come forward, and no clues as to what could have happened to him have been found. It’s like he just ceased to exist.

Adji’s turned 7 in October. He is developmentally disabled and functions on the level of a 2 year old.  He recognizes about 5 English words, including his name. His family needs to know what happened to their “Ji Ji”.

It’s heartbreaking to know there are so many missing children out there who have not received the national coverage that could help bring them home. These kids’ stories are every bit as important as the high-profile cases of Caylee Anthony, Haleigh Cummings, and Trenton Duckett.   They deserve to be found, and their families deserve to have closure.  KUDOS to People Magazine for their part in helping these children receive national attention!

Barry Leibowitz, Senior Writer at 48 Hours Mystery recently did a very interesting an informative interview with Diane Fanning, author of “Mommy’s Little Girl: Casey Anthony and her Daughter Caylee’s Tragic Fate”. Ms. Fanning provided some very interesting and insightful observations about Caylee’s case.  I’ve excerpted just a few teasers from her answers below.  It’s a pretty long interview, but well worth the read.

When asked what issue she thought was most decisive in this case, Fanning answered:

…..Premeditation. The prosecution needs to overcome the accident theory….

…..But with many indicators that Casey reacted when she did because of an argument with her mother, the state will need to show that although the actual timing, the day that it happened, might have been an impulsive act prompted by events, it was still backed by months of dogged research and deep contemplation.

What did she think about the relationship between Casey Cindy and George and does it matter? Fanning said:

…… Casey honed her skills in manipulation and deception by practicing on Cindy. It was difficult for Cindy, as it is for any mother, to distinguish between the normal adolescent breaking-away in search of independence and less socially acceptable behavior.

When the latter became obvious, Cindy refused to see it. ……

…………….Cindy’s willingness to do anything to protect her daughter, including the withholding of important evidence, has destroyed her credibility and made even a mother’s plea for mercy in the penalty phase at trial, if it comes to that, meaningless and unmoving.

When asked if there was an element of this case she thought remained to be unraveled, Fanning said:

Yes — Who is Caylee’s father?
…………….Will someone step forward before the trial? Will some young man quietly submit to DNA testing and when paternity is confirmed, reveal himself as a champion for justice for the daughter he never knew? ………….

What was the one question she felt she should have been asked but hasn’t and what is the answer?  Fanning replied:

Why does this story matter? First and foremost, it matters because Caylee Marie Anthony matters. Because this little girl deserved to experience life from its beginning until its natural end. Because her life was stolen from her,……………………

Many ask “What makes Caylee more important than the other toddlers who lose their lives to homicide, unnoticed and uncelebrated in the media?” The answer is simple.Caylee is more than one little girl—Caylee is the face and the voice for all young innocent children cut down by the cruelty, narcissism and depravity of others…….

…….A generic story about hundreds of murdered children may shock us but it doesn’t have the emotional impact of directly looking into the eyes of one victimized child. ……….

…………Caylee is just one little girl who deserved to live but when I look at her, I see so much more. I see legions of nameless children who suffered similar fates, lining up behind her demanding justice, pleading for change, begging for protection. And our little Caylee is standing vigil for them all.

If you haven’t read Diane’s book yet, I would recommend that you do.  It is an easy read, and though it only adds a few tidbits of knowledge that those following this case may not have already known, it does provide an excellent timeline of events.  Seeing the story that has been unfolding over the last year as one body of information makes  it even more shockingly clear that there is only one obvious murderer of Caylee….and that is her mother, Casey.

Shannon Dedrick, 7 months, was reported missing by her parents Sunday around 11:00 AM.  They said they had not seen her since 3:00 that morning. Miraculously, she was found last night at her babysitter’s home, hidden  in a box under the bed. The cedar box was 2′ x 3′ with a lid. Police estimated that she had been there for approximately 12 hours before being rescued. She was unharmed and appeared to be well-fed.

Precious little Shannon is now in protective custody and the two women are currently being held at the Washington County jail in Florida.

A HAPPY ENDING to what could have been a tragedy.

Washington County Sheriff Bobby Haddock said,

“Statistically speaking this should not have ever happened, that we found this child alive, especially after so many days. Time was against us.”

“It was very emotional for us, because once we got her to the hospital, we called our wives and every one of us was crying. Grown men crying. It’s just such a relief,” he said. “We’ve had missing children cases in the past, but nothing like this.” ————————————————————

Baker’s husband, James was questioned and released  by authorities. He is still under investigation.   Police do not believe Shannon’s father had anything to do with the child’s disappearance

Crystina Mercer told deputies that Susan Baker wanted to take permanent custody of Shannon and that she agreed. She says she gave Shannon to Baker in her own mobile home  at 1:30 a.m. on October 31st. Mercer later called authorities and reported her daughter as kidnapped.

On Tuesday, Baker told the News Herald that she “loved that child”, and had written Gov. Charlie Crist begging that Shannon be helped because she was being abused by her parents.

A happy ending!

Court documents released Wednesday showed that child welfare workers in Florida began looking into allegations Shannon was being abused less than two weeks after she was born. As recently as late September welfare workers reported that both parents smoked marijuana and kept a messy house, but they felt she was being taken care of  and the risk to the baby was “intermediate.”  A doctor determined the child was healthy and had “no concerns regarding the baby”.

100 law enforcement agents searched the woods around the Dedrick’s home, but it wasn’t until they contacted the Bakers again on Wednesday and were given permission to search their home that they found Shannon.

“They gave us consent to search the home and found the baby in a box under a bed, with stuff pushed around the box to hide the baby,” Haddock said.

A woman claiming to be Baker’s niece said she would never hurt a child,  but court records confirm that Susan Baker was convicted of assault and battery with the intent to kill, and assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature against her 6  year old stepdaughter in 1987.   She served 80 days of her 10 year sentence.

According to The Center For Missing And Exploited Children’s cold case files,

“(Paul) Baker was living with his father and stepmother, James and Susan Baker at the time of his disappearance. They have been arrested in connection with his disappearance. They were charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature for allegedly beating him before he vanished March 5, 1987.  Susan Baker told police she put him down for a nap that day and returned to find him missing. Deputies and police searched the area around their home for several days but found no trace of the little boy. After the disappearance, the couple’s 6-year-old daughter was removed by state social workers who discovered broken bones and sores on her body.  Susan Baker was convicted for beating the girl and sentenced to 10 years in prison for assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. Paul has never been found.”

Baker’s niece said,  “That’s the only reason they’re putting her (Baker)  as a person of interest now is because of all of that crap that happened way back when. They need to start asking (the mother) where the child is,” she said. “She’s the one that put it somewhere.”

Leave it to the Globe–their money talks.  Two more pictures taken by a passenger on George and Cindy’s cruise surfaced in the November 9 issue. (You remember the cruise—it was right after Casey’s bid for freedom was denied.)  One of them plainly shows the Anthony’s lovely tattoos.  Cindy’s displays the name “Caylee Marie” entwined with a butterfly`and is located on her tummy.  George’s is on his chest and has the inscription, “My Sunshine”.  It has a girl with sunbeams streaming down on her.  Both are good sized tattoos. (that spells a lotta dinero) and George’s fits in nicely with his good-sized diamond stud earrings.

I swear these people boggle my mind.  They’ve gone from living on the verge of bankruptcy–heck, I think they DID declare bankruptcy a few years back, they’re unemployed, and it wasn’t that long ago they were both talking suicide.   Now, they can afford tattoos like that? In case you didn’t know, tats are NOT cheap.  I’m not even gonna speculate on how much George’s diamonds cost.  (He’ll probably tell us they are fake).

Alls I can say is that it appears they’ve certainly wasted no time spending the blood money they made on Caylee’s 48 hour special. Nauseating!!  The only consolation in all this would be if someone sent this article to Miss Casey in her jail cell.
