Cindy Anthony, Casey Anthony and the Grand Jury

October 14, 2008

While prosecutors make sure they have all their ducks in a row for the grand jury tomorrow, the Casey Anthony camp seems to be running around like chickens with their heads cut off.

Cindy Anthony has broken her silence of several weeks in typical Cindy fashion by saying, “I think it’s about time the Anthonys’ start speaking out.” Huh?  I’m confused–isn’t that what they’ve been doing from day one?  Haven’t they been speaking out to accuse the very people that are doing everything in their power to help them, of hindering the search for Caylee? Haven’t they been speaking out to defend their daughter who has done everything in HER power to hinder EVERYONE from finding Caylee?  Haven’t they been speaking out to change their original statements? Haven’t they been speaking out to vilify Tim Miller and Equisearch for-and I really don’t get this-searching for a dead Caylee instead of a live Caylee? Wouldn’t they want to find her dead or alive?? I could go on and on, but I think you get my point.  The Anthonys’ haven’t had a problem with speaking out.

Now, as tomorrow looms, Cindy has added a new complaint.  She is speaking out to accuse authorities of being “politically motivated” and of not following up on all the hundreds of Caylee sightings she claims they are receiving.  She also said something that I wouldn’t have believed if I hadn’t seen the video.

She said, and I quote, “Casey is just as much a victim as Caylee is.” Wow.

How could anyone compare that innocent child, who had no control whatsoever over what happened to her, to Casey, who was not only in control of Caylee, but in control of her own actions.  WHATEVER happened to Caylee is absolutely Casey’s fault. That child’s welfare was her responsibility and hers alone.  Whether she murdered her, killed her accidentally, lost her, or handed her over to someone, ITS HER FAULT Caylee is gone, period. Her choices caused this nightmare. Casey’s own behavior has shined the spotlight on herself and spawned this outrage in the court of public opinion. And it’s her deception and complete lack of cooperation coupled with the overwhelming circumstantial evidence that has led the DA to seek an indictment with the grand jury.

It’s a mystery to me how Cindy could completely block all this out.   Has she really forgotten that Casey let 31 days pass–and probably would have let eternity pass if Cindy hadn’t tracked her down and forced her to admit she didn’t have Caylee?  Has she forgotten all the lies? The thievery? The smell of death in the car?  Excuse me, but someone please tell me how she can compare the victimization of 2 year old Caylee with the treatment Casey is getting in the press and with the actions being taken by the DA.

When asked about circumstantial evidence that could be presented to the grand jury,  Cindy responded,  “George is not concerned. I am not concerned.  We’re just gonna pray that people have the right sense tomorrow to listen to what they have.”

That’s the one thing to which I think we all can agree with the Anthonys’.  We DO pray that the people on that jury have the right sense tomorrow to listen to what they have– and move us all one step closer to the truth.

Nicely put. I can see a mother defending her daughter but this is ridiculous. Especially with all of the real proof that is out there. Earlier on in the police interviews Cindy even expressed that she wasn’t concerned with Casey, all she wanted was her granddaughter. In the 911 calls, she was livid with Casey, she wanted her arrested and you could tell she was peeved. That I can understand and that, I think, were Cindy’s true feelings toward Casey. But now she’s in this other world. She did a complete 180 with her feelings about Casey. Why?? I can see her fearing for what may happen to her daughter but she has to come to terms with it. Maybe she won’t. Maybe she will but it won’t be until after everything is over with and if and when they find Caylee. It is a shame though, Casey had the choice to protect Caylee, that didn’t happen.

She did do a complete 180, and it’s really troubling.

Kari brought up the term “folie a deux” in response to an earlier post I wrote–“Cindy Anthony’s Newly Discovered Interview” it means “madness for two”. When searching that term I ran across, “Folie imposée” which I think could possibly explain Cindy’s strange actions. “Folie imposée” is a “psychiatric condition where a dominant person (known as the ‘primary’, ‘inducer’ or ‘principal’) initially forms a delusional belief during a psychotic episode and imposes it on another person with the assumption that the second person might not have become deluded if left to their own devices. If the two people are separated, the second person usually recovers.

Don’t know if Cindy is suffering from this strange malady, and certainly don’t know if Casey is delusional, but I do know she’s had plenty of time to work on Cindy while they’ve been trapped in that house.

I really, really wish there was some way to get your comments to cindy!!!Not that it would matter, but very well said, thank you.If you believe in prayer,PLEASE pray that caylee’s body is found, because then and only then will the crazy anthony family admit she’s gone.Otherwise, I can see them continuing w/their deniel even as casey sits in prison…..everyone needs closure.

Stacy-I believe in the power of prayer, too. I pray that Caylee is found and that the Anthonys will be able to find a way to live with this terrible tragedy.

I also pray that Cindy will be able to put her anger toward the public and LE in perspective and direct it at the one she should be outraged with–Casey. Maybe then she could focus her attention on trying to wring the truth out of Casey.

    Excellent blog!
I don’t think Cindy has blocked or forgotten anything…I think she humiliated and embarrassed that the world is viewing her family as less than perfect.
Stacy…even if Caylee’s body is found they will have to admit Caylee is gone…but I bet you anything they will continue to claim that someone else did it….and I bet they (CINDY) will blame Law Enforcement, Tim Miller & Equusearch, and Leonard Padilla. She will never admit her daughter killed Caylee unless Casey comes forward and admits it publicly…and we all know that isn’t going to happen.

Thanks for the input, Mystery! I admit I have not heard or read the term ‘folie a deux’ for many years, now. Maybe ‘folie imposee’ (possible translation–an ‘imposed madness’?) is the modern equivalent. Like how we no longer use the term ‘manic-depressive’ and have substituted ‘bipolar disorder’.

In any case, while I think Casey is really beyond help, I’d like to think Cindy still stands a chance, if only this thing will end sooner rather than later.

Seems clear to me that the longer it goes on, the further away Cindy is drifting from reality, the further into paranoia and maybe delusion…
