Caylee’s Law: A law to protect children

Caylee’s Law: A law to protect children:caylees-law

Please go to the Care2 site (link below) and sign this petition.  It will be sent to Congress and the Senate when completed. Maybe, just maybe a law can be passed that will prevent the Anthony case from ever being repeated, and something good can come from Caylee’s tragic death. It’s a work in progress,  so if you have anything you feel should be added to this petition, now is the time to voice your opinion, and there is a place where you can do that there. This is just a really great idea. Kudos to the author of this petition, Diana!

This law will state the following:

Caylee’s Law is so that no parent or family member of a missing or murdered child can profit in any form.  This includes, sales of video, pictures, etc.  also included is movies, books, magazine, tabloid or any other form of media.

Caylee’s Law should also include a specific timeline that is required for a parent, caregiver is required to report the child missing to Law Enforcement.

This petition is for your ideas of what we can include in Caylee’s Law and when complete will be forwarded to The congress and Senate for endorsement.

UPDATE: A comment here asking what would stop someone else other than a family member from profiting  from a murdered or missing child made wonder–  Would a law like this infringe on our freedom of speech rights?  What do you think?

what is to stop someone from writing a book and then eventually passing the money to the family?
no one should be able to profit from this … period… family, media, anyone

would that infringe on our freedom of speech? Wonder if the substance of the petition, as it is written, would be unconstitutional? Maybe not–murderer’s can’t profit from their stories.

Someone needs to forward it to the Anthonys website and michele bart
so they can see that people are fed up with all of them and are going to do something about it

The law wouldn’t read that you cannot put books and movies out there, just that families can’t profit from them. With that said, maybe anyone who has not yet signed could pose comments, (as the whole thing will be sent to Congress) that would cause the proceeds of such things to be donated to the Amber Alert system, and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Just a thought.

Good idea, Niecey! This is a nice gesture, but don’t we already have a similar law on the books? As far as murderers not being able to profit from their crime?

And as far as needing to report a missing child, that’s covered. I mean, that’s one reason they arrested Casey initially, charging her with neglect and abuse, for not reporting her child missing.

I guess you have to start somewhere. Every good intended idea started with a good thought.
