Cindy Anthony speaking at the press conference today about Caylee sightings

November 25, 2008

Here is Cindy talking at the press conference today.

Concerning the Anthony’s belief that Caylee could be alive, Cindy said, “…People continue to call us because they believe that they saw Caylee. If they believe, Why can’t we believe? Why can’t we have hope? Without hope there’s no faith.  Without faith theirs no God. I for one believe there is a God.” A reporter asked, “Is your question then, to law enforcement, why can’t they also believe?” Cindy replied, “I don’t understand what the harm is to follow up….We’re not trying to discredit what the prosecution has against Casey. We just want our God given right to follow up on her(Caylee)…. Caylee Marie deserves that…”

    Dear Cindy,

God loves the truth! and he considers murder, lying, stealing and hurting the defenseless a sin.

You are not fooling anybody, Cindy! but yourself.

I can understand the love for your child and the need to protect them, but at the same time loving them means making them responsible for what they do wrong..Its quite obvious that she raised Casey as a selfish brat and is still not doing her any good by supporting what she did..I think Caylee deserves a proper resting place.

Since I listened to the recording of Richard Grund saying George told him, “I think my daughter finally ripped off the wrong person,” I keep running different scenarios through my head.

What if that is what happened, Casey ripped off the wrong person, and that person took her daughter as payment, or to ransom her for payment? That paints a different picture, but I’m not sure it’s a better picture. A mother whose child was accidentally killed somehow, she panics and hides the body—versus a mother who knows her daughter was taken away by some very bad people, and who still goes out and parties, and doesn’t report this kidnapping to police?

Maybe that is what happened, but when Casey says she didn’t report it because she was concerned for Caylee’s safety, for her family’s safety, that’s a lie. She was, is, and always will be only concerned for her own safety.

If uh, who was it? Territ? whoever was saying that Casey was involved in the porn scene is right, then Caylee could have been used for a child porn film, or a snuff film. Horrible, ghastly thought.

I dunno. This film clip of Cindy, she looks medicated again, speaking slowly and kind of blearily. Medicated, or exhausted.

It bothers me when she says Caylee deserves, or it is her right, to have everyone searching for her. Caylee’s not the only missing or abused or endangered child in the world, or even in Florida. It is not her right, or her just desert, to have the exclusive attention of law enforcement, media, or the public. She has had more than her due already, I’d say. If Cindy wants to keep the search going, that will be up to her from here on out, probably. The rest of us feel that every reasonable effort has been made and quite a few unreasonable efforts as well. We are ready to move on.

I would hope with all my heart that if this little girl died, she died quickly and painlessly.

There are times when I wonder if we will hear an elaborately detailed account of just what you suggest, Kari. Some porn ring, some vengeful gang, etc. but then, like you said, there’s Casey partying the night away after Caylee disappeared. It makes one of those scenarios seem very unlikely.

If Casey accidentally killed Caylee–her partying the night away doesn’t seem possible either–wouldn’t she be not only horribly upset, but also be feeling tremendous guilt for accidentally harming her child?

That leaves only two choices. She gave her to people she knew would take good care of her, or she killed her.

With the evidence in the trunk of the car, I think that probably leaves out the possibility that she gave her away…

Thanks, Rebecca for your compassion. I do have the deepest possible sympathy for Cindy, she is living out my worst nightmare…

And just sos you know; ‘medicated’ is not a cuss word. I, myself, have been ‘medicated’ on anti-depressants at times. Not on tranqs, but that’s because I’m not manicky, just depressive. I approve of the judicious use of medication to help a person cope with mental anguish…

I am sorry for your loss. I would be devastated if I lost my son. The only worse nightmare I can imagine is Cindy’s situation of losing both a granddaughter, and also losing her daughter to a sort of living death of madness and subsequent imprisonment. How terribly, terribly lonely she must feel.
