Casey Anthony’s dream team shot down again in court today

December 16, 2008

Judge Strickland shot down the dream team again today by rejecting their request to quickly examine material gathered from the crime scene where a young child’s remains were found. He denied two motions and set aside one. “Part of this is just pure folly,” said Strickland. “I just can’t do some of what you’re asking for.”

Baez requested an “emergency” court hearing this afternoon to try and force investigators to turn over photos, video and sketches from the scene.  They also requested a second autopsy to be performed on the body.  He wanted to have evidence investigators are continuing to dig up at the scene.

“They’re not sure when they’re gonna be done,” Baez said of the investigators. “It’s no longer a crime scene, it’s more of an excavation scene.”

Strickland quickly refuted that statement, and ruled that the defense did not have a right to interfere with detectives while they’re processing a crime scene.

“There’s no time clock on an investigation and if law enforcement doesn’t do an exhaustive job, defense will argue it was shoddy and inadequate,” he said.  He also didn’t see the need to appoint someone to oversee the work of the Orange County medical examiner, and declared the motion for a second autopsy was a moot point since the body was yet to be identified.

William Shaeffer, a legal analyst for WFTV called the motions “ludicrous.”  He said it was unheard of for a defense team to ask to be part of a murder investigation.  He also agreed the 2nd autopsy was a moot point becasue if it is Caylee, then Casey, Cindy, and George would have the right to have one done after the remains are turnd over to them.

Baez said Casey is having a hard time with the discovery. “She’s not taking it well due to the severity,” said Baez. “As far as giving specifics, it wouldn’t be appropriate.”

I don’t know about you guys, but this dream team is getting on my last nerve.  Who do they think they are?  Sounds like they think they can run over their “lowly” colleagues on the prosecution team.  They also apparently think the public is ignorant.  Baez has made it sound like it was ridiculous that they weren’t allowed to be on scene while the detectives are searching for evidence when in fact it would be ridiculous if they were!

As for Casey being upset well, duh!!  She should be upset.  She should have been upset a long time ago, but she wasn’t.  The fact that she is now tells the whole story. They’ve apparently found her daughter–right where she left her.  Casey’s going down–and my guess is she’s going down sooner rather than later!

And did I hear it right on Nancy Grace tonight?  Lee Anthony wouldn’t give his fingerprints without being forced?  I don’t understand that at all.  I don’t understand why he didn’t want to give his DNA before either.  That baby girl was his niece.  Why wouldn’t he do everything in his power to make LE’s job easier in their search for her.  Why not just do whatever they ask and eliminiate himself as a suspect?  Doesn’t make any sense.  But, then, it didn’t make any sense why, after not being seen for weeks and weeks, he decides to re-emerge by parading around in front of the house tearing down a Caylee memorial.

On NG they said Lee was just really angry with LE because they arrested his sister. Earth to Lee.  This isn’t about your sister.  She’s a big girl. It’s about your niece, Caylee. She was just a little girl. She needed a voice before, and she needs one now. Where is her voice? Who is her voice?  I think at the end of the day, Caylee will be her own voice. What’s left of her little body will speak volumes.  Caylee will avenge herself.

Mystery, I like that Judge? He put the dream team in their place. They think because they are all hi-profile big shots they can do what they want. Good for the Judge!!! I use to think Lee was the good one in the family, now I he may be just like his little sister.

No cooperation from anyone in this family, no searching physically, and everyone is wrong..Parents also have to remind Casey gently(who was finally crying on the phone) to be involved with Caylee. Lee wont give DNA sounds like he had involvement.. fending for sister….Jose Baez struggling to keep crazy and stupid under control???? PRICELESS AND OBVIOUS

topcat–I like him, too. Seems like a no-nonsense kind of guy. I read that even if they move the trial to another county he will remain the judge.

I think that judge is going to give Jose a lot of sleepless nights. The dream team is probably saying ” the nerve of that judge, treating us like that.”
Dr. Seuss- I would never expect any cooperation from that family.

I am glad the Dream Team was denied there motion. They loose again.Baez and the rest of his team are a real joke.It didnt surprise me about Lee having to be forced to give his finger prints. He refused the lie detector a while back too.Makes you wonder what he is running away from.Sounds like the truth to me.I agree Mystery ,this was his innocent niece that has her life taken from her.All he is was doing is protecting Casey.I made my opinion on Lee when Casey was released from jail the last time when they were both laughing and giving one another a high 5..It was like they thought they got away with something. Casey needed a sedative because she knew it was Caylee..Couldn’t quite handle the fact they found the body. She thought she was really going to get away with this I think. She sure didnt need a sedative when LP had the divers doing there search.Of course not.she knew she hadn’t put Caylee in the river. She was calm…She should of been thrown up the against the wall instead of being given a sedative.Caylee will speak loud and clear before this is over with.

Nina your right, when they was searching at the river and thought they found bones she didn’t cry. I was also thinking the other day that when Tim Miller and Cindy had their falling out! I wonder if it could have been WHERE he was searching and not that he was searching for a dead Caylee. He may have been getting close!

She showed so little feelings toward Caylee sence this happened that it has made me sick.I can bet I have cried over the lost of this child more then Casey has.Every damn tear she cried when she got locked up…She is beyond any thing I have ever seen in my life, when it comes being a mother.. I can’t imagine what this poor baby had went through when she was with Casey..She needs to get down on her knee’s and beg God for some pity on her soul. But then I am not sure she knows who God is.

Pox on Baez and his “dream-team” – Henry Lee is a known Liar…Baez inappropriatly touched Casey YUK…his strategy is for a mis-trial!
    Don’t even think about an insanity plea…it won’t wash!…don’t even think about a change of venue {unless it is on Venus/Mars or Pluto!}
I hope the death penalty is kept off the table…Casey should be sentenced to life without the possibility of parole to be served in solitary in a cell decorated with the gruesome remains of Caylee for the even months…then to be put in general population for the odd months so that she {LIKE CAYLEE} wouldn’t know when she was going to die!
Having had to bury my stillborn grandson I know the gutwrenching heartache….but to kill a beautiful little girl because you wanted to “party” do drugs/drink makes Casey the lowest piece of scum on this earth! I realize that she is innocent until proven guilty…sure hope this proof comes soon because in my mind she must be made to suffer as Caylee did!
Bless Caylee who is now in heaven with my grandson.

Well, now we know what (more or less) happened, we’re just waiting to find out whodunnit.

And most everyone has their mind made up on that point. I’m not so sure. For some reason, I keep remembering how Casey said, “I left her with someone I shouldn’t have trusted.” Amidst all the double-talk about Zenaida, that sentence sounded sincere to me.

But, there now, I’m sounding like Cindy, trying to pick little bits of encoded truth out of Casey’s lies. I liked Cindy, initially. Like the rest of the planet, now I’m sick of her stubborn denial of the facts, and anger with everyone who doesn’t see things her way. Not that we necessarily know what all the facts are…

Ask yourselves what do the Anthonys want immunity from? Not the ‘wrong’ hairbrush, that was nothing, she told detectives at the time it wasn’t Caylee’s exclusively, and they were not concerned. Not washing the clothes, or cleaning the car, it was far from certain that it was a crime scene at the time… You could argue that the smell made it definitely a crime scene, but I don’t know. Before this case, I didn’t know a smell could be considered hard evidence. I don’t think you can hold someone accountable for not acting on a smell. Like saying, ‘You heard a terrible scream, why didn’t you call the police?’ Well, of course, you think to yourself, ‘My God, it sounds like someone’s being murdered!’, but then you don’t know, and chances are you’re wrong…and the police aren’t going to come and investigate just a scream.

So, what do the Anthonys want immunity from? Presumably they know something they think is pertinent, but in some way could incriminate themselves. My best guess is that they are going to reveal that there has been some illegal activity going on, drugs, prostitution, gambling, and they are going to accuse Casey’s pusher, or her pimp, or whatever. This would be part of Casey’s story that she told to them. That, say, she’d been working as a small-time pusher, and she left Caylee with her supplier, and that was why she couldn’t possibly cooperate with the cops, because ratting her supplier out would only make it more likely that Caylee would be hurt or killed.

If that were true, it wouldn’t really make Casey any less guilty, just less crazy…

Kari-I think you’re still trying to make sense out of the senseless. I’m guilty of doing the same thing. I really want there to be some logical explanation for Casey Anthony’s behavior other than she was just didn’t want her around anymore. Then, I remember the chloroform searches and the neck breaking searches and the missing children’s website searches–independent of each other perhaps irrelevant. (we’ve all been guilty of following links on the internet and ending up in places we wouldn’t normally be, and that were completely different from the original search we were making) But, put all together, it’s suspect.

Nina-I agree with you that this is unlike anything I’ve ever seen in my life, and it defies understanding. It’s so far out of our realm of understanding that we’re all wracking our brains trying to make some sort of sense out of it.
