Anthonys pushing for private funeral for Caylee in jail with Casey

January 27, 2009

Brad Conway, attorney for George and Cindy Anthony has announced that he is negotiating a private service for Caylee that includes a family reunion with Casey Anthony in the jailhouse.  Conway said he’s hoping to know by the end of the week if this will happen.  According to this article, George and Cindy have been working since Caylee’s remains were found on plans for the private service.

Attorney Tom Luka, Lee Anthony’s lawyer said he hopes for, “some sort of reunification with the family, the whole family, Casey included, so they can grieve and say goodbye together.

Brad Conway said he hopes to  be able to reunite with Casey Anthony behind bars to grieve for the child she is charged with killing.

OC corrections officials have told WESH2 that because of the charges against Casey, policy prohibits her from leaving the jail for any service.  Now Mr. Conway says they’re trying to work out details so that the service can take place in jail with Casey. “We are trying to work with the jail,” said Conway.

The jail has not confirmed any of this. Spokesman Allen Moore said, “No such request has been received by OC Corrections. It is highly unlikely such a request would be granted.”

The Anthonys are also finalizing plans to hold a large public memorial for Caylee.  According to Conway, they are planning to make the announcement on Wednesday.

I don’t know what I think about this.  Actually, I do.  I  don’t think there should be any special concessions made for Casey Anthony and it has nothing to do with whether she’s thought to be innocent or guilty.  I just don’t think she should receive any special concessions for anything—-PERIOD.  Why should she receive any better or worse treatment than any other woman sitting in jail waiting to go to trial for the murder of her child?  No favors.  No special attention.  No family in a private meeting.  No funeral in jail.  No nothing–unless the jail is prepared to offer the same privileges to every other inmate in her same circumstance.

Bury that poor baby.  Stop putting it off, stop trying to get special privileges, don’t worry about any pomp and circumstance.  Just quietly bury the baby and have a simple public memorial.

I do not believe they will get their wish. It is just too bizarre, and as far as I’m concerned, she said her goodbyes when she stamped her with the “heart of death” and threw her out like trash.

mystery I agree with You, no special concessions
should be made for Casey unless they are made for all the Inmates in the same circumstances.
There is a Reason why Casey is in Jail, she is charged with the Murder of her Child.
I would hope the OC Corrections will make the right Decision.

I agree totally Mystery..it seems they are always asking for some sort of special treatment..Dumbo with KC ..now Conway with G&C..rules are made for a reason and you’re right if they are not going to be for all inmates then NO TO KC…this just makes her feel she is a special case…this really Pees me off.

Don’t be too sure that they won’t get their way friendly mom. Nothing would surprise me in this case.

The Anthonys have complained loudly that they have been recorded every time they came to see Casey (as is every other inmates conversations) and couldn’t talk with her “privately”. Is this just another attempt at getting some alone time with Casey?

  5. January 27, 2009 6:55 pm

You go girl! You said it Mystery! I am in TOTAL agreement with you. Why should Crazy Casey get ANY special anything. OC better be prepared to offer EVERY single person in jail with the same fringe benefits that this twit wants. Crazy Casey had 31 days to give precious Caylee her good-byes and do the right thing INSTEAD she chose to enter a hot body contest and dance on a stripper pole. NO SPECIAL FAVORS!!!!!

On NG they’re saying this whole thing is a ploy by her attorneys to show how distraught Casey is. A publicity stunt!!!!

Now that I can agree with!! Just another publicity stunt. Everytime something new comes out pointing to Casey’s guilt, they pull another publicity stunt. I can’t see them getting their way. Like I said, do for one, do for all. I hardly think they are ready to take on funerals with everything else they are understaffed to deal with.

My husband is a retired corrections officer and I can insure you this happens alot when a family request it. Not all people can afford to hire duputys and sherriffs to escort inmates to funerals when father mother brother sister dies. It would only seem right that they allow this 20 minute private service to happened. They can cry foul if it is not allowed when others have done this for years. Most jails have a minister or chaplin and a place for prayer and a grieving family to have some private time. now If only the public and media would stay out of it. I say dont have a public memorial. This family is to fragle.

mary, I agree with you that it’s done under the circumstances you describe–but I think you might be wrong about it being done all the time for people that want to be at a service for someone they are accused of killing. I think that would be very unusual?

We are not speaking of a funeral service of a loved one who died while you were behind bars. We are speaking of a funeral of a murder victim of the person behind bars. That’s comparing apples to oranges.

As far as a public memorial sevice. That is up to them. I know I would not be offended, if they chose not to. I could certainly understand this being a private moment.

In this country we are innocent until proven guilty. I dont make the laws or rules the prison system will probably honor their request. She has not been found guilty yet. Dosent matter what we think it is the law of our country.

    Mary,

the jail already said Casey is not eligible to attend the funeral of her daughter outside the jail because of the level of her charges.

The jail spokesman also said it would be highly unlikely that they would honor a request to have a funeral in the jail.

Maybe the rules are different in Florida? Anyone know?

Why should Kasey get special treatment, I think she murdered that little girl because she was jealous of her. I cannot understand how her mother can possibly believe she may be innocent, she just does not behave like some one innocent, she still does not care about anyone except for herself. It breaks my heart everytime I see that little girl in the videos singing.

She shouldn’t get special treatment–she should get whatever treatment any other inmate accused of murdering their child gets–and I don’t think that would entitle her to much!

Mystery..my brother was a CO.at an O. prison and he said he has never heard of such a request..family members..yes but not the victim.
My girlfriends son is a CO. at a local facility and he also said he has never heard of such a request..the same..family members..not victim.
It’s to late for the public and media to stay out of it..they have been invited in over and over as long as it serves their purpose..but want to shut the door when it’s not..sorry but they have to take the good with the bad so to speak.

I would be inclined to agree with the publicity stunt theory.

I with you Mand, some people just talk out their a$$, instead of speaking facts. I am inclined to believe she will not have the right to do this, given her charges. I have never heard of anyone having a service at a prison. I called my girlfriend’s husband who is a police officer, and a friend of mine, who is a prison guard. Neither have ever heard of such a request being honored.

Ok, I saw what Mary said and I’m sorry to say but Mary is sadly mistaken. I just searched Florida Law regarding prisoners and such services and there are absolutely No Statutes Or Provisions for services within a jail or prison. I live in Florida and I went to the State’s website. The only laws and provisions there are, are for trustees to leave and see a dying relative, or attend a dead relative’s services. Sorry Mary, but you are wrong on this one. Casey doesn’t even qualify for trustee as she is charged with Capital Murder.

Mary, I think we understand the law of being innocent, until proven guilty. However, she is currently behind bars, and with that, are rules of the system. Sorry, sucks to be her.

There is no way they will allow a private funeral in the jail for the accused to attend memorializing her victim. If her grandpa had died while she was incarcerated, the family could meet with KC and the chaplain, possibly, for a brief service. Allowing this would set a precedent for all other inmates. I highly doubt it will happen, but in this case..who knows?

Casey can meet with the Chaplain anytime for prayer, she can see her family at visitations, and she can meet with her lawyer anytime. She cannot have any special services held. They don’t do them in Florida prisons or jails. I searched the Florida Constitutions for all laws and provisions governing inmates in jails or prisons. It will not happen. I do believe Baez knows that. This is a publicity stunt!

You know what I’m thinking? I hope they do get to have that special family service, because I’m thinking a chance for the family to all get together might result in some interesting new developments.

For one, I wouldn’t be surprised if some family member tried to strangle Casey just to wipe that gosh-awful smirk off her face, and that’d give us all some small satisfaction. Plus, maybe now that we all know Caylee was not kidnapped and taken to Puerto Rico, maybe the family would like to ask Casey a few more questions, and maybe whilst spinning more and more creative answers, she might slip up and let some truth out…

So, I’m saying, let’s give them this special family reunion, and just sit back and watch the show!
