Jose Baez releases a statement about Casey Anthony video of her reaction to news a child’s body had been found
This afternoon, Marti Mackenzie, spokeswoman for Anthony’s attorney Jose Baez, released a statement via e-mail.
“It is outrageous and cruel that they were standing by to record her emotions,” Mackenzie said. “Let’s call this the latest in a ‘tape and release’ strategy that the Sheriff’s Office seems to have used since Casey was first arrested. Even if its not their primary motive, the release of this kind of information has to have an influence on viewers and readers. Just look at the blogs.”
The video was turned over to the State Attorney’s Office according to sheriff’s spokesman, Carlos Padilla. It is not being released because it is part of an ongoing investigation.
A statement was issued from the jail by spokesman, Allen Moore. He did not confirm the existence of the video.
“As we have consistently stated, we do not report reaction or demeanor of any inmate in our custody,” Allen said in an e-mailed statement. “Further, Orange County Corrections will not reveal any information about law enforcement investigations or requests.”

Everything about this case has been outrageous and cruel. It’s outrageous that Casey Anthony didn’t report her child missing for 31 days. It’s cruel that she refused to aid police in searching for her daughter. It’s outrageous that the Anthonys dined at the Ritz while investigators combed the woods near their house for the remains of a child. I could go on and on.
