Lee Anthony gives deposition in Zenaida Gonzales defamation suit today

February 27, 2009

Lee Anthony was deposed in the Zenaida Gonzales defamation case today.  He was questioned for more than 3 hours.  lee-anthony-at-zg-deposition1

Lee has said that he never met Zenaida Gonzales, didn’t know what she looked like, and had never even heard her name mentioned until July when his sister, Casey, was arrested.

Keith Mitnik, an attorney for Zenaida said he wanted  to prove with Lee’s testimony that he knew nothing about Zanny the Nanny and that there was never a Zenaida Gonzales watching Caylee to begin with.

Did Mr. Mitnik accomplish what he set out to do? Apparently Lee answered most of the questions asked of him.  He confirmed that this Zenaida Gonzales is not the person Casey Anthony accused of kidnapping her daughter.  Lee did not answer all the questions he was asked, and John Morgan, another of Zenaida Gonzales attorneys, said he will ask a judge to force him to respond.

A tape of Lee’s deposition is expected to be released to the media sometime this afternoon and a transcript should be available.   The questions he wouldn’t answer will be revealed then.

He looks absolutely angry and defiant about being there to give these statements.. I would have thought he could pretend a graciousness, even if just to make himself appear to be a normal adult male. I guess he CANNOT fake normal any more than his silly sister.

maineme-He does look defiant and I imagine he would have liked to be anywhere but there. The video of his deposition is being shown on HSN, so I imagine it will be on the net soon.

I seriously wonder if Lee Anthony has some kind of disability. And I mean that respectfully. There’s just something kind of “off” about him. I guess growing up in the Anthony Asylum would do it to anybody.

I think he is doing the best he can under the circumstances. It must be so difficult to realize what the possible outcomes are for Casey. He doesn’t know who Casey is and when he says he “believes everything his sister tells him” is because to think otherwise would make him accept who she is and what she did. There will be a time when he can whrestle with those feelings but he has decided to march forward without too much pain.

Telling the truth has to be a singular decision that he makes separate from his parents and Casey. When he can stand alone and be comfortable with the truth, I think we will see a different and more mature Lee.

The sadistic and horrifying way little Calee was murdered has to be very difficult for him to accept. To realize that his own sister might have done this has to be extremely difficult. Hopefully, he will get help with this.

It’s becoming more and more clear that Lee’s loyalty is with Casey, not Caylee.

    Hey everybody! 🙂
I thought lee was gonna refuse to be deposed if the cameras were rolling? Did he even try and get rid of them beforehand?

And when is the next docdrop?! I thought it was supposed to be this week? And are the 1200 “pornstar pics” of Our Girl Genius included in that docdrop? Or are they an entirely separate matter? I’m assuming those are the pics that compelled George to vomit during his FBI interview…

Well if they’re anything like the ones I’ve seen no doubt George got sick. No father would want to see his daughter like that!

Boston, you are a better person than I am. You are doing the right thing by not judging Lee. I can’t quite find it in my heart not to.

I’m with you Bees..I think of what happened to Caylee and then to have him say all the BS under’s all lies and why??To protect KC..where in the hell were they when Caylee needed protection..this was their flesh and blood not some kid they didn’t know for God’s sake..I know it must be the worst kind of situation ever to be in..but the bottom line is it was one of their own that murdered one of their own and it’s time to stop this bull crap..tell the truth..STOP ENABLING KC. she has not learned a thing about being truthful..what she did learn is..just keep lying we are all behind you sweetheart.
This makes me sick..Caylee has long ago been forgotten by those that should have protected her in life and DID NOT and now…REFUSES TO DO SO IN DEATH…POOR LITTLE UNWANTED FORGOTTEN ANGEL…

Bees-Knees-I certainly am not a better person than you are. I do well to keep myself on the straight and narrow! I can see how Lee is just about had it. Remember Bees when he laughed at his first interview and was questioned about the smell in the car. When I heard that laugh I knew with 100% certainty that he did not know that smell and although he realized Caylee was gone he never thought for a moment she was dead. Of course I did. I didn’t really want to believe it but I admit it was my very first thought.

I think Bee if you look at him as a very uninitiated kind of guy-someone who has been damaged by Casey for a very long time but may have been unable to express it. He never knew anything else but conflict that was under wraps and always “in the family”. He saw his mother tortured by her and yet he always found himself being split in two-divided and expected to be loyal to them both.

If he “believes everything Casey says it is because this is how he can keep himself intact. He does not want to believe she is a murderer. He feels some unconscious guilt possibly-Why did I not see this coming? Why didn’t I listen to Mom more? Where was Dad all this time? Why didn’t he and I do something? Thousands of questions he will ask himself in his darkest moments.

The young men and woman who come off the battlefield with no legs often times mention that they felt nothing and when they woke up found themselves at the Walter Reed. They are surrounded by others who have lost their vision and who are using seeing eye dogs. Others have lost hands and they are getting used to being fed. The list goes on. My main point here is that we see so many men Lee’s age who have fought tirelessly for their country and for their own survival. When they woke up they saw people like themselves. They were a fraternity. They saw woman there as well-they were injured but never broken. The guys who got new legs showed them off as well as their ability to negotiate the long and hard days of physical therapy. Those who lost their vision brought in their dogs and showed off the skill it took to feel confident in a world that went dark but never dulled their joy for living.

Lee has no support group. No other group of guys that are facing his challenges. He has friends that could never and possibly would never befriend him simply because of the social stigma. He walks a very lonely road all alone and without support.

I place no value judgements on people who find this one or that one hard to take. It doesn’t make that person bad in my eyes. They just have an opinion. You can feel iffy about Lee Anthony but that doesn’t change my opinion about how thoughtful and funny I think you are.

It is hard for me to understand how it is ok that George is accepted that he just can’t bring himself to believe that
his daughter did this but I read words that Lee shouldn’t have those difficult feelings. If Lee did not witness any crime
his sister did. he can not very well say ” I know Casey killed Caylee” can he. any more than George and Cindy admit,
even thought they have to face the future outcome. When I see Lee’s arms crossed over his chest isn’t it usually
interpreted as a defensive stance. He knows that everyone wants him to come out and say it but again if he was not
there he can’t, because that would be one of those “lies”? It doesn’t matter what he, George and Cindy may know they feel down deep inside are they required have to – confess for Casey. On a different part. There had been some
conversation from Casey’s friend (which one?) that they used to go to the area near where Caylee was found and
bury their dead animals (pets) Has there been any questioning about the pets, how they died, etc. I think the friend
made some comment about them having a burial with a ritual, etc. Can anyone elaborate on any facts. Someone
brought up the probability of Casey having sacrificed precious Caylee in a satanic cult ritual or given her over to such. I really can’t point to any exact where and when but sure I heard something about this.

Beatrice-It has always been interesting to me that no one will come out and talk about the final resting place for Casey’s animals. I don’t think there is anything satanic about it but many people with her antisocial personality traits often times take the wings off of flies if you get my drift.

Boston! You live in New England? WOW!!! I guess that explains your username, huh? I’ve always wanted to spend some time there (I’m in Canada). I think we share a lot of the same weather. But I’m pretty sure you get an earlier spring.

Anyway, thank you for your very interesting perspective. You make a great analogy between Lee and fraternities and I think you may be right. You explained your points clearly, and it’s the best description of what it may be like to wear Lee’s shoes that I’ve ever read. So, thank you for that.

I have to say, I’ve sat in on over 100+ depositions and have yet to see a depostion that was not treated in a somber and serious tone by anyone whether plaintiff or defendant and NONE of the depositions were in any relation to a violent crime let alone murder.

To witness the little I did of his demeanor during the deposition was dunning. LAUGHING? There is absolutely nothing to laugh at about this case and most particularly nothing to laugh at during this very serious situation the Anthony family has placed Zenaida.

The Anthony’s made endless public complaints – and costly demands of tax funded budgets – due their claimed ‘threats’ made against them so much so they even played to the cameras discussing the security they demanded for the memorial service for threats the Anthony’s exploited for the pity party continuum.

There is a serious lack of parenting and social responsibility in the Anthony home witnessed by the behavior of the entire clan/

The spiritual constipation resulting in the endless display of sociopathic inhumanity, their complete disregard to laws in place for everyone but themselves AND their contemptuous lack of value other’s lives – who too have children – are becoming so repulsive it’s getting more and more difficult to find the words to express “the horror, the horror”.

There was a T-shirt I saw years ago: depicting a massive auditorium. speaker behind podium with a banner on the stage that said “Convention for non-dysfunctional families” – and two people were sitting in the massive auditorium.

I think what horrifies the public so much about this family is the fact that the cause and effect is the fact that we know there are tens of thousands of more Casey’s and Lee’s being readied to leave their nests thanks to the type of dysfunctional parenting mindsets like Cindy and George.

The actual refusal to be deposed was threatened if the Press would be present during his deposition.

Lee’s lawyer was depending upon the press being present (they weren’t) so much so, he scheuuled a court hearing during the hours of the depostion so screwed his pooch when the deposition was held due to the press not being there. The attorney attempted to have the deposition stopped once it started so he could go to court but that is a no-no.

He screwed his other client royally in his gamble to avoid doing the right thing for Zenaida Gonzales while patronizing the Anthony’s disregard for the laws of the state in which they live.

Mike, thanks for answering that question for me! And I agree with absolutely eveything you said. To call the Anthonys disfunctional is an insult to the average disfunctional family! 🙂 No family is perfect, but this one appears to be just infested with mental illness. Its really scary how FAR from reality they are…

    Hi everyone–

Mike–I thought the press was there–they were just kept outside the room.

I agree that it is scary to think how many other children from dysfunctional families (and show me one completely functional family, please! Are there any?)
are out there. I have to hope that there are more Lees’ than Caseys’.

I also have to add–and I mentioned it in another comment. Some people laugh when they are nervous or scared. It’s an involuntary reaction to a situation. When I was child and my dad was going to paddle me, more often than not I would giggle uncontrollably. (I know that sounds weird) Believe me, it wasn’t cuz’ I thought getting spanked was funny–it was a nervous reaction to anticipating what was going to happen to me. (and I might add, it usually made my dad madder and cost me an extra swat!)

    Whew!!! Mike, very well said!!!

Yes, the horror indeed! To contemplate the existence of one true sociopath who we believe most likely murdered her daughter, but more than one? The whole family. That’s my opinion and I have never entered my opinion on-line about anything until I started following the unbelievable story of Casey’s. There are too many “coincidences” that when put together show me clearly that Casey murdered Caylee. There are too many for me to list here. To watch Caylee’s entire family turn their backs to her in defense of Casey is just so sad.

PS: Funny that you reference ‘Apocalypse Now’ ~ I’m watching it this afternoon!

  25. March 1, 2009 11:10 am

As the sheriff said, shortly after little Caylee’a duct taped skull was discovered, “No child should EVER have to go through this.” So, dispite all the lies and deceptions from her family, Caylee will have justice! Again, it will be interesting to see how her so-called “loving family” reacts when ALL of the horrifying details of her gruesome death occured, and LOOK AT THE FACE HER MURDERER.

Look, Lee contradicted many statements that he made previously about Casey. He lied during this deposition once again & his refusal to answer key questions certainly point to his knowledge of facts that are being concealed during this investigation. I also find it troubling that Lee refused to answer the paternity question, when he has boldly addressed it in the media prior to this deposition.

The Anthony family is full of liars. They are protecting a murderer & they know it. It will come out in the end & they all will have to answer for their hand in Caylee’s death.

Thank God Caylee is in Heaven and away from the insane Anthony family. They put that little girl through hell.

God, I hope Cindy reads blogs, but then again, I’m sure she doesn’t as she tries to live in denial because it’s the easy way out.

To everyone who comments on this case – Lee, Cindy, George, Casey & Mallory ALL had a hand in the death of Caylee. Maybe they didn’t kill her physically, but hiding key evidence is just another way to put the nail in her coffin.

They all should rot in jail. Last, I hope Casey screws them all in the end when she claims mental abuse by Cindy and sexual abuse by Lee and/or George. I bet she uses this in her defense – and I can’t wait for her to turn on her supportive family. I mean, how many kids can say that their parents would cover up a murder for them? Man, Casey is one lucky girl in that respect.
