Judge rules on Baez’ motion to stop release of photos showing Casey partying
The release of the video showing Casey Anthony’s reaction to a body being found near her home has been delayed by Judge Stan Strickland. Baez will be able to see the video before it is released and will have 15 days to file another motion if he objects to it. He has not previously seen it.
Baez did not want the tape made public and in his motion he claims it violated Casey’s right to an attorney. He says it also violated her patient and medical rights privacy because it was taped in the OC Jail’s medical clinic. He thinks it’s release will make it difficult to seat a fair jury in her murder trial.
Baez also challenged the release of 100’s of photos, claiming prosecutors are only doing it to embarrass and harass Casey. He said these photos had been on Photobucket and show her partying. The judge did not rule on the release of those photos.
A second motion was filed Friday to stay the release of discovery, but no hearing has been requested for that information yet. The prosecution confirmed that it is waiting to release another 1000 pages of evidence.
Judge Strickland tentatively set the date of her trial for October 12, 2009.
George and Cindy Anthony were at today’s hearing. They have not seen their daughter since in person since October 14th.

It’s my understanding that these are not the “porn” pictures, but the ones we’ve all seen a million times on the internet. So what on earth is the point of blocking their release?? They were already public. The pictures to me are a moot point in that respect. However, I totally disagree that these pictures are irrelevant to the case as Baez would have us believe. I would think they would be HIGHLY relevant to the prosecution’s case. If the dates that they were taken can be established as after Caylee disappearance, they would be unbelievably damning if they were to be entered into evidence for the jury to see. No way are they irrelevant. And no way does the prosecution just want to use them to embarrass and harass Miss Casey. They want them to help CONVICT her!
Those pictures along with the video of her reaction to the discovery of the body, could easily be nails in her coffin, but I think, taken by themselves, the pictures are worse for her than her reaction to the body being found. The defense could argue that she was hyperventilating because she was AFRAID it would be her daughter and was horrified at the thought she might be dead. The video could be interpreted several ways whereas the pictures could not. BUT, if you look at the tape alongside the video of her non-reaction when Padilla found possible remains at a separate location, then the prosecution would have a better chance of convincing a jury she hyperventilated because she knew the gig was up.
They’d have an even better chance of convincing a jury of that if they could also use the tape of Dominic Casey searching the same area with such “purpose” while talking on the telephone a full month before the body was discovered. Add in Cindy’s statement that she sent her “people” to look there and you have a pretty good case that Casey freaked because she KNEW it was Caylee they found. JMO.
