Rape and molestation may be added to murder charge against Melissa Huckaby in the Sandra Cantu case

April 13, 2009

melissaProsecutors in the Sandra Cantu case said today that rape and molestation allegations may be brought along with the murder charge against Melissa Huckaby.

The San Joaquin County Deputy District Attorney, Robert Himmelblau, said that the homicide charge could also include the special circumstances of rape with a foreign object, lewd and lascivious conduct with a child, and murder in the course of a kidnapping. Other charges are also being considered. The results of Sandra’s autopsy have not been released and Himmelblau would not say what has led prosecutors to consider the sexual assault allegations.

“I was hoping that wasn’t the case,” said Sandra’s aunt, Angie Chavez, regarding the possibility of rape and molestation allegations. “I’m in shock,” she said through tears. The whole thing is unimaginable.”

A conviction on one of the special circumstances could make Huckaby eligible for the death penalty or life without parole.  She is scheduled for arraignment on Tuesday in Stockton.

read it below:

The Tracy Press

If this woman is not delusional,  I’m having a really hard time imagining her killing this little girl and disposing of her body all on her own.  She had to have some help.  Granted, we don’t know much about Melissa Huckaby at this point—other than the fact that her family thought she deserved to be in competition with Casey Anthony for “Mother of the Year.”

At this point, I’m gonna say she did not act alone.  For one thing it is very unusual  for a woman to randomly kill a child.  For another, the physicality of  throwing her body into that pond would be rather daunting.  Sandra must have weighed 50-60 lbs.  There’s just got to be more to this.

That is why I think they should have an express lane to lethal injection for baby killers. What do these children do to make an adult want to hurt them in such manners as they do. absolutely disgusting!!!!

In my opinion, anyone who kills a child should automatically receive the death penalty, regardless of the state’s laws.

I believe I read that a man reported seeing a truck backed into the area where poor little Sandra’s body was found. He said an older man with gray hair was looking down, toward the water.

I’m wondering now if Melissa’s grandfather was involved???? Could she be covering for someone???? Or was someone (the man described) trying to cover for her????

My heart goes out to the families involved….this is such a tragedy.

It truly breaks my heart to think of the terror in Caylee and Sandra’s eyes while they looked into the people who chose to take their lives. Caylee was to lile to know about death but Sanda was not, how very very sad!!!

i do not think a religious person rapes and then kills a child in their grandfather’s church — without the motive for the crime on some level having to do with the church and with the grandfather. It is my guess that Lane harmed Melissa sexually when Melissa was about Sandra’s age. And this crime is some kind of repression turned into horror.
It sounds ritualistic, vengeful and in the works for some time — seeing as Lane (melissa’s grandfather and the pastor of this church) kissed Sandra 2 years ago in a swimming pool and Melissa drugged another 6 year old some months ago.
It feels all interconnected. Young girls, misconduct, Lane and Melissa. Melissa may well have acted alone in this crime, but i suspect her motive involved her history and relationship with her grandfather.
It sounds like she had recently become financially dependent on her grandfather. But had some rage towards him that she thus could not express. If Lane was kissing Sandra when Sandra was six, you can bet Lane did things to Melissa, who he would have had much more access to when she was young.
Lane is way too creepy — making a big show of giving a big sermon about Sandra the day after her body was found– when just two years ago he had been found kissing her in a pool. Perhaps Melissa was even jealous of Sandra, or saw something in her that reminded her of herself — a part she wanted to destroy.
But whatever Melissa did to Sandra before she killed her, I would put money on that Lane did to her years ago.
    what foreign object??

    Nika-

Several of your statements are incorrect, and that may have led you to wrong conclusions.

Frank Wohler, a 60 year old martial arts instructor is the person that kissed Sandra at the swimming pool, NOT Melissa Huckaby’s grandfather. Melissa Huckaby’s grandfather name is Clifford Lawless, NOT Lane, but he did preach a sermon Sunday in the church. Her father is Brian Lawless.

It’s considered VERY unusual for a female to commit this type of crime. As horrible as it sounds, most of the time when women murder children, it is their own child that they kill. Add to that the sexual assault-that makes this case even more unusual. When women commit these types of crimes, there is usually a man involved somehow. The female could be participating at the instructions of the male-sometimes out of fear for her own safety…or maybe she offered up this child to be molested instead of her own child in this instance? She may not even have known that the plan was to kill the child afterward, or perhaps the male or both panicked at the idea of being caught. This is all surmising, but I’d bet my bottom dollar that we see a male being implicated in this somehow.

Bermuda Girl–I don’t know if you’d read any of the earlier comments but I think I agree with ostella–she thinks it may be a porn ring and this is just the tip of the iceburg. prevost–you crack me up! You’re right though–It doesn’t matter what thread you are on, if it involves the murder of an innocent little child, the killers should lose the right to live. Period. Yes, give them a fair trial–make sure they are the murderers, and after that has been established, bam, they’re dead. I agree that we would see a lot less crimes of that nature in short order.

laura The best way may be injection or the chair, but the mother in me would like to see a little more suffering of these beasts on behalf of the children who’s lives were snuffed out way to early in such horrific ways. They should have to suffer the same terror and pain those little angels suffered.

I don’t believe that this is the first time that Huckabye has molested/drugged a child. This behavior just “didn’t happen” over-nite.
Why didn’t the police arrest her when they found drugs in the other little girl that she took to a park?? She and Casey Anthony are the scum of the earth and if not the eath penalty, HARD LABOR 24/7 until the end of their days.

I’d like to know the answer to that question, too, MBFelicity!

Melissa’s grandmother, the preacher’s wife ….. not once, but twice …. commented to journalists: how awful it was that someone would take Sandra, abuse then kill her.

Her two statements are were televised, both statements were made prior to Melissa Huckaby’s arrest. Her prescient comments have raised some eyebrows.

This is going to be a frustrating case to observe since the PD is functioning under a gag order from on high….the most telling info to be found are within the comments sections of the Calif. online news providers since locals familiar with Huckaby and people in and around the area in Tracy aren’t gagged from speaking out and posting.

A curious note: that the preacher, Lawless didn’t have keys to the boarded up church, the caretaker Fred Williams had to open the door for him yet Melissa Huckaby is known to have the key (the one missing from her grandfather’s key ring?).

Locals state the church has been closed and boarded up for years (on televised films of the building one can see the windows are boarded over).

The 77-year old retired preacher and his family attend church in another part of town….and it is Huckaby’s own “lie” that she was/is a Sunday School teacher she made to the press that keeps being repeated incorrectly. That’s an issue that irritates many over the last days. Even I yelled at the TV when Nancy Grace repeated the meme last night.

Also reported: Fred Williams, the “church caretaker” and Sandra Huckaby were witnessed on social outings and in one statement reported they were to be out on a boat together (not the manure runoff pond…there is alot of water/canals in and around Tracy). People feel something is ‘odd’ and suspect regarding Fred Williams – caretaker of boarded up church – and point to the fact he lives in a 4,000 sq.ft luxury home.

Presumably people are wondering where a “caretaker” makes that kind of “luxury home” money. It’s rather foolish to assume everyone in Tracy is blue-collar, he may very well be the owner of income property…who knows. The area is agricultural and many large land owners rent out their lands for cattle grazing and farming ….plus receive massive farm program Federal Subsidies to NOT farm their lands which can allow one to live a life of luxury.

The boarded up “church”: it’s a roadside building that could be used for anything if rented out…architecture is more like a ranch style home and typical roadside type of building you’d see a VFW club use. The fact that the FBI removed a fold-up bed and was opening the walls has led to the suspicion there are surreptitious cameras hidden in the building to film sexual activity on the fold-up bed….and with the latest discussion of Cantu’s sexual victimization that will most likely escalate the discussion of what was going on in the boarded up “church” building.

Final note (for now): the ‘boyfriend of ill repute” that Tracy locals point out was dating Melissa Huckaby is also reputed to be a resident in the trailer park.

By the way, that trailer park is not what people typically visualize . . . .the homes appear more like those wood plank pre-fab types with pitched rooves, the area is immaculately groomed and the road in and out is private.

The homes are squeezed rather tightly against each other wherein to say “Huckaby’s home was 5 homes away from Cantu’s really is a distance of the average suburban home’s yard to the next home’s yard. The set that close to each other. It would be stranger …. in such close and protected climes …. to think kids could not move about freely.

Looking at the compound, it is not the typical trailer park which most people put down, the name alone is making the denizens seem less than what they are. There are Cadillacs and other expensive cars parked there. It seems an compound that retired people would not hesitate to reside in….the retired preacher Lawless and wife live there, others are regular working people and families with kids.

If it weren’t for the name trailer park, any observer would consider it a groomed suburban environment but with homes tightly set next to each other.

Augie—thanks so much for all the information. We all really appreciate it and hope you will continue to update us. It’s info that you don’t find in a lot of the news articles.

Huckaby had previously told The Tracy Press that Sandra visited her home on the day of her disappearance to play with her 5-year-old daughter. But Huckaby said she’d turned Sandra away because her daughter needed to pick up her toys and Sandra went to another friend’s home.

It is reported since that statement: Huckaby’s 5-year old was not home at all that day BUT we also have seen it reported that Miranda Cantu, Sandra’s older daughter was asked to babysit for Huckaby’s daughter. That’s a conundrum to be sorted out, to be sure.

Huckaby’s daughter – who was never allowed out of the home (and reported very thin and very sickly) has been unavailable to be spoken to since she’s disappeared and reported to be staying with some family member PRIOR to her mother’s arrest.

If the little girl WAS home, she would have something to say about Sandra coming to visit. any activity while she was there and her mother taking Sandra out of the house with her . . presumably to the church two-blocks away.

Needless to say, making the child unavailable seems rather suspect considering the issues.

We can hope that Child Protective Services are going to interview the child whether it be for her own treatment in and around the home with her mother and potentially for her ability to report activities in her home that afternoon regarding precious little Sandra….who is reported to be the ONLY friend of the sickly little girl.

They do have a special professional trained team to delicately interview young witnesses to criminal activity.

Also, in Tracy news it’s reported that Melissa Huckaby was on the ropes due to owing $17,000 in credit card shopping sprees, sued by hospitals for thousands of dollars. etc – which again will escalate the talk about her potential involvement in kiddy porn and the monies to be made from the heinous despicable business.

By the way Mystery, I’m in California and am a property manager . . .am trying to dig info out on the “Fred Williams caretaker” as we speak (currently, to no avail).

Again, very interesting, Augie. I saw on JVM that LE said they arrested one person because they believed only one person was at fault. That would kind of shoot down the porn theory, although I still have trouble believing this was done all on her own. Crazy or not, lifting the dead weight of an 8 year old child, stuffing the child in a suitcase, lifting the body into a vehicle, and then throwing it out into the water would require a great deal of strength.

I think the caretaker looks pretty suspect here. A wealthy guy chooses to be a caretaker? Having a little trouble with that one.

    Thanks again, Augie.

    This is disturbing

There was a report stating that in the church, long hair was found from a haircut and litter from black hair dye for men was also found near the hair and taken as evidence.

As a note, hair dye for men is much cheaper to purchase than most dyes for women so rather suspicious (and alarming) considering the financial straights Melissa H is reputedly responsible for.

There’s a consensus that makes people think someone was trying to disguise themselves and of course, it’s well known that abducted children do get their locks cut and dyed by their abductors to disguise and deflect prying eyes.

None of the photos and tv film showing the caretaker have him with black hair. Imagine the additional agony inflicted upon the Cantu family if little Sandra had her hair lopped off and dyed!

    ———

Huckaby’s relatives described Melissa as a loving mother with a strong religious upbringing.

The ‘strong religious upbringing’ is a red flag from the git go. It is well known fact – statistically that a major percentage of killers behind bars come from “strong religious upbringing”, in particular fanatically religious upbringing due to the dichotomy of religious edict in conflict with real life desires resulting in a mindset that one “kills the object of their desire” due to their victim causing them to “sin”.

A woman claiming to have grown up with Melissa Huckaby has commented on a news site and stated Melissa “had problems at home growing up” but she didn’t elaborate and wrote it with a comment that all teenagers claim they have problems at home.

Huckaby’s court hearing today is at 1:30 pm Pacific time.

Oh gawds: in February this year, a child sex porn ring was revealed operating in the town of Tracy when a local coach was reported by his students for inappropriate touching during his classes (investigation revealed he had been reported for the behavior in previous elementary school where he worked and a high school where he was a substitute when police were notified).

When police confiscated his computer the trails on his computer led to a child porn ring operating in the area and I’ve seen it commented on that over 60 locals were swept up by the police.

Another comment on http://www.blinkoncrime.com mentioned that Tracy, in central California’s agricultural community is the second largest “legitimate porn film industry” locale (LA being the largest)

Rachel–They did take a cot out of the storage shed as well as tearing out the walls looking for cameras, I presume. The hair dye and hair is upsetting. Why would someone do that unless they were planning on squirreling her away somewhere–if, indeed, it was Sandra’s. Perhaps the death was accidental, after the fact.

If a porn ring were suspected, why would LE insinuate that she was the only suspect?

Seems like I remember something about that story–Didn’t realize it was in Tracy. Tracy is quite the place.

    Thanks for the information.

Searching around online via real estate sites . . . I found the Orchard Estates is classified as a “manufactured home” community. The preacher Lawless and his wife own their home in the compound since 1990.

It must be aggravating for the residents to be news hounded as a trailer park tenants.

Here’s birds eye view image, you can see these are not “trailers” from their width/size (it’s a massive sized hyperlink tho’):

    http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?cp=40.018714|-105.12744&style=h&lvl=19&=1#JnE9eXAuODEyK0Nsb3ZlcitSb2FkJTJjK1RyYWN5JTJjK0NhbGlmb3JuaWElN2Vzc3QuMCU3ZXBnLjEmYmI9NDAuMDE5MTI3MzU5NTY0JTdlLTEwNS4xMjY3NzM3MTUwMTklN2U0MC4wMTgzMDE2MDAwODI3JTdlLTEwNS4xMjgxMDQwOTA2OTE=

There’s a photo of two volunteers standing near the homes here:

http://nachofoto.com/foto?i=4e899e9a3761&ref=4e899e9a3761 which shows a tiny portion of the area behind the two women in the photo.

In the Tracy news online I’ve seen a street view which piqued my consternation as to the sensationalistic “trailer park” description….but the Tracy news site doesn’t provide a search in order to back track to that photo which disputed the use of “trailer park” made by all the press which instantly has most all people expect the worst of residents.

It actually looks like a nice, safe neighborhood. Not somewhere you would think to find a porn ring or child predators. And, I agree, “trailer park” insinuates sub-standard living conditions.

A porn ring? This makes me sicker the more I hear. I have a lot of law enforcement officers in my family and we’ve been talking about this. The puzzling thing is: if it’s a porn ring, why kill the child? Wouldn’t it make more sense to keep her alive but take her to another location to use again (as sick as that is)? I don’t understand why they would kill her…usually that’s done so the victim isn’t around to identify the offenders-I know this is obvious and I’m not trying to insult anyone’s intelligence but I’m just trying to make sense of this.

I remember some years back there was an expert on child abduction on Oprah and he was saying that if your child is lost, not to tell them to go to ‘a policeman’ because small kids can’t always tell what is a police officer’s uniform as opposed to a security guard or a courier person or whoever-to them a uniform is just a uniform and they could end up in the wrong hands. He said instead to tell the child to ‘go to a lady’ because a female will naturally try to get help…and in the off chance that they are a kidnapper, they will do it to have a child (e.g. if they can’t have kids themselves) but the odds are pracically nil that a female will sexually assault and murder a child. Now this…

I’m sure the odds are still nearly nil-we as women tend to be nurturers…this Melissa woman is an abomination to the female gender and as a human being period. I picture that poor child skipping along innocently not even knowing what evil is around the corner for her and it breaks my heart. I’m about to tune in to CNN and will make sure to catch Nancy Grace tonight because to be honest I’m not up to date on what has developed today…but this whole thing just makes me so angry at this evil monster of a woman.

Bermuda girl–It is really hard to get my brain around the idea that a woman did this terrible thing and did it on her own. We’ll see.

I agree with you–why wouldn’t they just keep her to “use” again instead of killing her. Perhaps it was an accident, or maybe they decided it was too much of a risk to let her live. I’m hoping there will be a lot more information forthcoming.

A psychiatrist on one of the news shows said that when a woman commits a horrendous crime such as this one, the cause can usually be traced back to their childhoods. (they were raped, abused, etc.) It is a re-enactment of their own trauma.

I think, if I can recall . . . on Investigation Discovery cable channel is a series of shows called Most Evil and other shows (so not sure which) just recently had an entire show dedicated to women killers of children. They are a much lower number statistically than male but not so rare as we think. There are so many cases but usually they don’t make national headlines so get lost to us as a nation since they are behind bars without much notice.

Needless to say, the one case that really got me that day of watching was a woman who was paid $20 to bring in a very young girl to be tortured, raped and murdered by some man while she watched . . . . then of course the child was wrapped up and dumped. She chose a friend’s little girl since the little girl was locked out and came to her for help.

Recently I’ve noticed several cases around the nation with women involved in child rape/child porn cases, one in Tampa, Florida as we speak.

On the show(s) discussing these women all behind bars, in MOST cases it involved the man the woman was having a relationship with and in many cases, they stood on their own as the perpetrators.

Once when I was invited to a Tahoe mountain house for a few days with my little daughter there was no television so we had the radio on most of the day . . and I became paranoid since – literally – every hour or so another emergency interrupt would announce another child missing or “found dead” . . .needless to say, I wanted to leave for home in the big city after the first 24-hours.

Upon returning to the city, I stopped an officer walking on his beat and asked him about this issue in Tahoe and he said, it’s happened for thousands of years, it’s just now we talk about these things AND that it’s happening right here at home but we don’t announce it since it would kill off tourism.

My daughter is probably the most “street wise” human being on the planet at this point (she’s 18 now) and is avid in giving me everyone’s phone numbers, names, addresses even if just going to a movie during the day and or out for the most innocuous events. As aggravating it is to answer the phone (my job requires endless phone calls) one more time, my daughter deluges me with step-by-step calls making her the brunt of her friends mocking.

Yes, it’s no worse today than it ever was–we just have full access to what’s happening anywhere in the world at any time of the day or night.

There is just so much information available that it can become almost too much to handle, and I am glad I didn’t have this kind of instant knowledge when my own kids were small–though I was quite over-protective and had what my husband called an “unreasonable” fear that one of them might get snatched. I do not envy parents with very young children today.

Your daughter is lucky that you took the time to make her “street” smart. IMO, you cannot overdue the safety thing with your kids. It just takes a blink of the eye and they can be gone.

I dunno’ but think her wincing is due to her shame in that the public and her family hearing the charge of rape since it makes the illusion of claiming it’s an “accident” all the more difficult.

If she was mentally ill, she wouldn’t wince nor feel tearful by any of these events.

I asked them why?! they didn’t want to make sure that I’m not a sex offender or a criminal?! Of course I got looks! but I’m just as blunt in person as I am in the ghost world.

My point is that sex offenders are known to hide away in churches, schools & anything to do with kids. What does being a member of a church have to do with NOT being a pedophile?!

I’m not trying to brag or anything like that, but thankfully where I live (Bermuda, obviously) this type of thing is almost unheard of. The last time (and I belive the first and only time) a child was abducted(a 10-year-old girl), sexually assaulted and killed was over 30 years ago-the guy got convicted of manslaughter for some reason and is out now but his life is a living hell. He went boo-hooing to the media about the death threats he’s gotten, how he’s been beaten up, how no-one will rent a house to him, or give him a job, etc.-TOUGH…should have thought of that before you did what you did. We also had a 17-year-old raped and murdered about 12 years ago but it was by a Jamaican living here.

This kind of thing doesn’t happen here-thank goodness-because we’re such a small community and everyone kinda looks out for each other. Guys know if they do something like that, that their life would never be the same again. First of all, the Police would beat the crap out of you (we have a lot of criminals here who ‘resist arrest’), your life in jail would be a living hell (just like anywhere, even hardened criminals hate crimes committed against kids) and once you get out your life is hell forever-you even get put on a ‘stop list’ where you can’t even leave the island to live abroad so your life would be totally ruined. I think that deters a lot of perverts…we’re not perfect-we get the odd molestation case every now and then but it’s usually a stepfather, uncle, etc. type of thing-not random and no murders…

Kids wander all over the place and can be safe-thank God…I hope I’m not jinxing it…but like I said, we’re such a small community people know they won’t get away with it so it makes them really, really think twice.

It has nothing to do with it, Prevost–But, I think it would be difficult and not feasable monetarily to run background checks on people volunteering to be in church daycare facilities.

I don’t know what the answer would be, but our church has 6 volunteers watching the little ones. All children have to be signed in and signed out by a parent. If someone else brings them, the parents have to make sure the head teacher knew it in advance.

Still not perfect, but at least there are checks and balances.

What I don’t understand in this Case is the Fact why would Melissa Huckaby decide to rape and kill Sandra now. The Way I understand Sandra would come over to Melissa’s House many times before to play with her 5 Yr. old. and nothing out of the ordinary ever happened to suggest to Sandra or her Parents something wrong was going on in Melissa Huckaby’s House.
Did she just snap that Day and decide she is going to molest Sandra and kill her.
Where was her 5 Yr. old when that happened?
I just don’t understand, I guess I have to follow that Case and see what will happen.
I guess Melissa won’t have a Dream Team to defend her like what’s her Name, oh yeah Casey A., hm I wonder why that is.

Hilde–That’s a really good question. My guess is they are going to go for an insanity plea. She’s had some mental issues in the past.

It’s my understanding, from another commenter, that her own child is sickly and Sandra was her only friend.

after reading all the Comments very carefully I realize that I missed some of the Info for example the 5 Yr. old Daughter of Melissa wasn’t home at the time
    Sandra was murdered.
I also believe there is much more to this Case and this is sadly only the Beginning.

Yes, apparently Melissa Huckaby is denying that she did anything to Sandra.

Tracy police department has issued a presser requesting parents to contact them if their children had contact with Melissa Huckaby. One can assume that Huckaby’s bringing home the other 7-year old at 2:00 a.m. drugged out of her little mind not long before the Cantu murder has instigated the police to dig deeper in Huckaby’s contact with other children.

I think the 5-year old daughter of Melissa Huckaby who has been described as extremely thin, sickly and a forced seclusion is key to much more information on this woman. The trailer park’s caretaker pointed out the odd seclusion and sadness of the little girl early in the media frenzy)

Yesterday a new horrific headline hit the Tracy area with a doctor indicted for sexually abusing 64 female patients wherein the article provided excruciating detail of what he did to the women.

The entire area being deluged with headlines from the “Tracy 60” child porn ring arrests/investigations, the Cantu murder, the 64 victims of the Doctor, the tortured teen boy who escaped, etc.

I have a friend who stays to big city life, as she says: at least in the city someone can hear you scream. I beginning to comprehend her motivations for that statement.

My gosh, Krista! How big is Tracy, anyway?? It’s like all the degenerates in the country migrated and settled there!

The more I hear, the more I think a porn ring is involved in this. Thanks for the info about the little girl Melissa drugged earlier. Why on earth weren’t charges filed then? Sandra might still be here if they were. I wonder if she was drugged and woke up at an inappropriate time and they were afraid she might tell somebody what was going on?

OMG … the lawyer for Melissa Huckaby has filed court docs demanding little Sandra Cantu be exumed for second autopsy by their own chosen one . . so Huckaby can dispute the rape charges!

Un-freaking-believabe horrid thing to put Sandra’s family through!

My first thought: they’re prepping to defuse the charges against the “aggravated murder” statutes that put the state’s death penalty on the table via the rape charge.

If they want ANY sympathy for Huckaby, they just lost any they could cull by making this demand.

Seems the Huckaby attorney plans to emulate the Anthony’s legal team’s heinous behavior to negate their client’s acts.

    http://www.tracypress.com has their report:

On the same day that thousands mourned the loss of Sandra Cantu, the public defender of alleged murderer Melissa Huckaby asked to have the 8-year-old’s body exhumed for a second autopsy.

In a report filed yesterday from the San Joaquin County Superior Court, defense attorney Sam Behar called for a second autopsy so Huckaby can defend herself against allegations of rape. According to the report, Behar’s office hired Dr. Terri Haddix as its pathologist on Wednesday to perform the proposed autopsy.

According to the minutes from yesterday’s hearing at the Stockton courthouse, Judge William Murray Jr. “admonished” the defense for asking for another autopsy. Murray did not make a ruling because he is not the case’s assigned judge, said Stephanie Bohrer, the court’s spokeswoman.

A brief scan of comments provided this wisdom: The job of the defense is to make sure that murderer has a fair trial, not to make sure she gets away with murder!

Tracy: population 70,000+, previously an agricultural community that has been overdeveloped by planned communities on previous pasture lands; VERY extreme right wing population

Tracy news did briefly discuss the “other 7-year old” who was brought back by Huckaby drugged at 2:00 from an outing to a park. (who hangs out in parks at 2:00 a.m especially with young child?)

The brief info that was available made it sound as if this incident was just prior to Sandra Cantu’s murder … the parents called police, police opened a file which was in investigation and whammo, Sandra Cantu became the next victim.

There is no info discussed as of yet if the police had gone and spoken with Huckaby about the drugging of the child or if the child was tested for drugs to identify what was used. Those tox tests take weeks so it may have been a requirement to wait for those results before pushing the case on.

We discussed this at home …. if in fact the police did approach and question Huckaby it would seem blaming the other would come first. . .to blame the child for putting something in her mouth that she may have found in a public place

Today also are “anonymous” ex-friends of Huckaby who’ve made public statements that Huckaby had claimed she was raped by a police officer she dated at age 18 but never reported the rape to law enforcement.

The comments in response to the article are not sympathetic and point out millions of women are raped, they have not reacted by drugging, abusing, raping and murdering children. Touche’

Today the Calif media is full of articles relaying Huckaby’s friends/family insistence
that she “just isn’t capable” and is a “gentle” person with extremely conservative moral rules.

One look at her latest alcoholic abusive boyfriend’s photos and police file would contradict those statements let alone her dragging a kid to a public park until 2:00 a.m that a police file reported she drugged.

I find it hard to wrap my head around the fact she and all close to her point to her extreme religious cloistered life in Baptist enclave the family tree brags up while at the same time they all brag about her one claim to school girl fame for being on a “dance team” in high school as if it’s a one-way ticket to the nunnery.

Don’t Baptists have big no-no against dancing/music/drinking, etc? Seems a screaming conundrum to be bragging about her ‘dance team’ accolades (she got kicked off from) while at the same time deflecting her guilt from horrific murder/rape charges by bragging up her cloistered religious upbringing based on their Baptist family tree.

Umm, the three friends who claim Huckaby told them she was date-raped by Southern Calif police officer and didn’t make a police report has an update in http://www.tracypress.com today.

“Cypress police department spokesman Sgt. Tom Bruce said today that the department there conducted an investigation into claims by a Tracy murder suspect that a cop raped her 10 years ago. The investigation cleared the Orange County officer.”

I commend the Tracy PD for digging deep on all the statements being made while at the same time having the massive burden to deal with the evidence and local investigation(s) that may or may not link her to other issues.

Another article notes the public’s massive phone calls to the PD in their efforts to insist it isn’t possible for a girl like her to have done what is alleged of her.

Augie– I agree it’s unbelievable that they want to exhume the body and do another autopsy. Why? I can’t think of a reason.

It was in January that the little girl was drugged and taken to the park–apparently in the afternoon–not in the middle of the night. Nothing was done about it because the child’s mother was intoxicated and had drugs on her when she took her daughter to the emergency room. My question is did they remove the child from her mother’s care if they thought that she was responsible?

MYSTERY : ‘ Eyes For Lies ‘ has a piece posted today about the F.B.I. looking for Pastor Lane Lawless, Huckaby’s grandfather, alleged child abuse by him in another church in Washington State in 1981 !!! As I previously stated, I have felt he is involved with little Sandra’s abuse/murder from the beginning ! A VERY shady family, to say the least!

Thanks Lily–I’ll read it. Augie has been talking about that connection. I really think what we thought from the beginning will turn out to be correct–This is going to be connected to a porn ring.

A link to Eyes For Lies website is located on the right side of this blog under the heading “Blogs About Crime” for those who want to check it out.
