Judge rules that Zenaida Gonzales can continue with her suit against Casey Anthony

May 19, 2009

Here’s the video of today’s hearing: VIDEO

Today, Judge Jose Rodriguez has ruled that the civil case brought by Zenaida Gonzales against Casey Anthony can continue.

Instead of dismissing the case, as Anthony’s attorneys hoped,  the judge granted Gonzales’ attorney’s motion to amend the original complaint and ask for punitive damages.Once that new complaint is filed, Casey Anthony’s attorney, Jonathan Kasen, said he will refile his motion to have the lawsuit dismissed – or at least delayed until after Anthony’s criminal trial.

Does that mean George and Cindy will be forced to come back and answer more of those pesky questions from John Morgan?

Now wouldn’t that just be something. I’m kind of glad that this has worked this way. I see this lawsuit as that annoying fly that spoils their picnic.

Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful! Good things come in small packages. Gee, does this mean that Cindy, George, Casey, and Jose don’t always get what they want. What a shame. 🙂

Congratulations to Zenaida and her attorneys and thank you to the judge. It is my opinion that she HAS been damaged by having Casey use her name as that of the nanny and that her name will go down in history united with Casey and Caylee – even if she isn’t the Zenaida that Casey was referring to – if that Z ever existed. Which she didn’t. Hacked up sentence but you know what I mean.

This is “good news”. Zanaida also needs compensated for receiving Cindys pointed finger in her face, and saying on national TV that she is not a ten. How ignorant.

  5. May 19, 2009 1:19 pm

Cindy is not a 10 either and I agree with Diana that she is ignorant. What ever number Zenaida is or is not she has a right to the quiet life that she had before Casey made her infamous.

If Casey ever writes a book about her jail bird and murderer experiences Zenaida will be entitled to a share of the profits if she wins her case. Good for Z.

i am really pleased to hear that the case will go ahead & i hope that the anthony’s will be brought back to answer the questions that they did not deem relevant to the case. it makes you wonder why people need lawyers at all, when all they have to do is give george & cindy a call & they will set things straight for you (ha ha)
i think it will very interesting to find out what leonard padillo has to offer.

I became a much bigger supporter of the civil suit after watching G and C’s depositions. Their behavior was so crass, mean-spirited, shallow, and outrageous that I wanted to reach thru the screen and rip out their voiceboxes. It was like watching a couple manipulative brats throw temper tantrums to avoid answering tough questions….and thinking they’re so clever and “badass” in their tactics to insult and distract…. They come off like a bunch of 12 year old girls on the playground…. Idiots….

I hope Zenaida gets the fishing boat!!!

It is good to hear Zenaida’s law suit wasn’t thrown out. Thank you Mystery.

    That is good news, Mystery.
I wonder if Zenaida recieves damages in the case, if Cindy will have to pay her or if it doesn’t involve Cindy, but just Casey. That’ll be interesting to find out.

I think Leonard Padilla will offer some interesting tidbits in his deposition.

I know one thing. Cindy will not want to have to have another deposition and answer questions AT ALL. I’ve got to watch her second deposition.

Hi: I’m very glad to see this ruling and I certainly hope that they will have to answer those ‘pesky’ questions if the Judge deems it so. I’ve also just read that Ronald Cummings has come forward through his lawyer to state that he wants no help at all from the Anthonys in the search for his daughter. The article went on to say that he feels the Anthonys have their own agenda and he wants no part of it. I am VERY happy to see this as well. Maybe they’ll stop getting asked to appear on major tv shows?? We can only hope, IMO.

I think if Zenaida wins her civil suit, it will mean what Harriet said–any future earnings made from the blood of this child (ie a book, documentary, movie, etc.) will go to ZG depending how much of a settlement she wins. It won’t affect what Cindy and George rake in.

I just can’t understand how the Anthonys are getting away with lying under oath. Must not be as big a deal to do that as I have always thought. I would be so nervous (just telling the truth) so I can’t imagine trying to keep lies straight under oath.

Diana–I think it IS a big deal–at least when they get to the big trial. I’m hoping the prosecution is keeping a little black book….

That’s when all of this will really count. They’re just letting them go on & on, slipping that noose right around their neck. These are taped interviews, the oriniginal FBI interviews are recorded, they WILL bring these up & SHOW them at trial if necessary! These Anthony’s think they’re really something, they’ll see…..

This lawyer is actually going to go back to court AGAIN with the same request on the civil case? wth? Oh, maybe the judge will change his mind huh? not

    Me too *Mystery
I keep thinking that have found the shoes she was wearing the day she double bagged Caylee and decomp. was dripped on them. I don’t remember if she asked anyone that she was shacking up with for the month if she could borrow their washer, and didn’t Tony say that she wasn’t there when they werent? She didn’t have a key. Unless she snuck in her parents house and did her laundry when they left the house.

Molly–I wondered about the lawyer saying he would be back to ask again now that Zenaida’s attorneys can ask for punitive damages. I don’t understand either.

On LKL, Brad Conway said that the State and LE are not persuing charges against the Ants. However, that doesn’t mean the FBI isn’t going to press charges,
Remember when Kathi Belich received emails from Cindy and we heard the hairbrush story? Well, Kathi received 3 other emails and Kathi knew that what was on them wasn’t somehing Cindy would send to her. This was when Cindy said someone hacked her email account. Kathi sent those emails to the FBI (not LE) and told Cindy that she had done so. For Kathi to do that, it seems those emails may have been incriminating.

Diana she probably DID sneak back in her parents house to do laundry!! UGH. I don’t know about shoes, but I am keeping the faith that LE has some mighty damaging evidence or they wouldn’t be going for the gold.

I remember that Coreysmom–There was a stink around whether or not Cindy was faking it that someone hacked into her account because of some incriminating emails she wrote to Sean Krause that she wanted to make people believe she didn’t write. (oops–I think that was a major run-on sentence. sorry!) He ended up being interviewed by LE. I don’t know if it was ever proved that she was the one that did it or not.

Yippee! Guess what my friends…I was just about to turn off the ‘puter @ 10:00 pm last night when a google alert from wftv popped up saying “watch live” so I did! Watched the empty courtroom for about 45 mins {the Judge was running late} then saw the whole thing.

George looked extra grim when he realised Kasen cocked it up again  instead of wanting to chuck my shoes at the screen I was applauding loudly…didn’t get to bed till midnight but it was worth it.

Nancy ~ give the boat to Zanaida really made me laugh 😆

Back in the earliest days of the investigations… I recall that not only did Casey provide the name of Zenaida Gonzales…Casey provided the license plate and description of the car Zenaida was driving (a NY state license plate)….which WAS the car this Zenaida was driving when the police tracked her down.

For any of the Anthony’s to obfuscate and deflect the law suit’s contentions when in and of itself is obstruction of justice in the case Zenaida has against them.

Cindy Anthony has made it no secret she’s scouring any and all discovery documents … so she would be well aware when and if the police were given – by Casey – the license plate and description of the car. (Were we not told that Casey and THIS Zenaida both signed in at those Sawgrass apartments . . .on the same day? . . . and Miss Thing, Casey, always ready to set up the next con, made note of the perfect brown skinned bogie-man to blame …after all many Floridians are quite anti-Latino and more than willing to blame the “other” for criminal acts.)

Zenaida was specifically targeted with VERY specific information given the police directing them to THIS Zenaida Gonzales

Property managers do ask and receive the applicants’ car and license plate during the application process….especially if parking is provided at the building.

I have not heard this issue of the car and plate number being brought up during the depositions but we also are aware that Casey took the 5th on the written deposition’s response. It’s an issue that would not have been asked of Casey’s parents as they were not the ones providing that specific car information to the police.
