Defense granted delay in the Melissa Huckaby case

May 23, 2009

Friday, Melissa Huckaby’s Public Defender, Sam Behar told the court that he needed more time to review new charges filed against his client for poisoning two other people.

Prosecutors filed a single count of child endangerment and 2 felony counts of furnishing a harmful substance. The complaint charges that Huckaby poisoned a 7 year old girl identified as Jane M. Doe on Jan 17, and in March, poisoned a man identified as Daniel Plowman, 36, of Hayward. The complaint states that Huckaby, “did willfully and unlawfully mingle a harmful substance with food or drink with the intent that (it) be taken by a human being” by using a muscle relaxant.

Behar received 1000 pages of evidence recently and wanted more time to review it and the new charges before entering a plea.  The charges  make Huckaby eligible for the death penalty.

Judge Loftis asked San Joaquin County Deputy District Attorney, Thomas Testa, if  he was planning to send Huckaby’s case to a criminal grand jury or wait for a preliminary hearing, and he replied, “We were waiting for a preliminary hearing.”

This case is really baffling IMO.  I just can’t get my mind around the idea that this woman did this by herself.  It looks like the prosecution believes she acted alone and has indicated she is likely to be the only person that will be charged.

That guy, Plowman who was ‘drugged’ by Huckaby – people have dug up his facebook page (I think blinkoncrime had the link to it)

…. what I noticed is the background of his Facebook page was rather ‘girls gone wild’-ish and yet the few “friends” pics on the page were kid(s). I glanced at it and didn’t have time to scroll around but had a visceral reaction to the combination of Playboy-ish theme and children.

After all, those kid pics of friends could just be his own or relative’s kids but the dichotomy of the background on his site and little kids was just too . . disturbing due to the horrific cases in Tracy over the last months of child rape/murder, pedophiles, tortured/abused teen boy (the one who escaped in shackles) the “Tracy 60” child sex ring, doctor indicted for multiple patients rapes, etc .

AND – it’s being gossiped about by locals in Tracy: the enclave wherein Huckaby and Cantu lived, recent investigations have found neighbors in the enclave were discovered to have child porn on their computers. Locals talking about that issue are PO’d they haven’t heard of any arrests.

Oh, what a tangled web! This baffles me as well. I really wonder what the real truth is. It doesn’t make sense for it to be just her. JMO.

I posted an entire thing which either showed up on another linked page here in error or disappeared into the ether net . . .

regarding a curiousity goading search online regarding the Pastor Clifford “Lane” Lawless and his wife Connie who are the grandparents Melissa Huckaby was living with.

It is they who have the child of Melissa being spirited around and now even reported being kept out of state “unavailable” for questioning.

The Tracy locals are talking about how the Lawless couple are refusing the child’s natural father taking her home to his “normal” environment based on what the grandparents say “the child is too sickly” (but not sick enough to be fobbed off from person to person while on the run?)

Apparently the Lawless couple are demanding full custody of the child.

This, if true, is beyond disturbing, It’s Preacher Lawless and wife who – with their kids, one who is parent of Melissa – were in the Clarkson, Washington church that was taken out in massive child sex ring convictions with lengthy prison sentences. Lawless claimed it’s the church where he was “saved” and became preacher.

The curiosity goaded a web search regarding Baptist treatment of pedophiles in their ranks being reported as “protected and defended by the church” and I found shocking news headlines with endless lists of Baptist preachers not only being allowed to continue, but were nomads going from congregation to congregation around the country making more victims of rape, pedophilia and even murders….I ended up creating a list of links to many, many preachers who were arrested and convicted for heinous deeds . . in nearly each case, further digging resulted with the congregation and church preachers served in making excuses and forgiving fluffy bunny accolades for the convicted preachers.

Apparently the Baptist churches are considered “autonomous” and have no defrocking rules and/or board that punishes deviants within the ranks…circles the wagons and sends the preacher off to yet another congregation in the nation. <—- web site created by and for the preacher's victims (prepared to be shocked/repulsed/saddened reading victim statements)
and an organization called "SNAP" that is doing futile battle with the Baptist Convention who refuses to intercede for victims against their preachers.

I have started a petition against the website and would like your help to have it removed from the web. This site not only discredit well reputable foundations but it also lacks empathy for the death of Caylee Anthony, in a way mocking the case in hand.
I dont know what else I can do but contact as many people as possible and bring awarenss to this site .

    and the petition is

    Thanks Again for listening

Augie–this thing about the Baptist preachers is very interesting. Of course, there are also a large # of Catholic priests associated with pedaphilia. I wonder if one were to look at other denominations there would also be large numbers of ministers doing the same kinds of things. As a Christian woman I find the whole lot of them very disturbing and it makes me very angry to think of the young children that trust these “men of God” only to be betrayed in the worst way. I hope there is a special place in hell set aside for them.

I also find it disturbing that the grandparents of Melissa’s daughter are hiding her away. Why hasn’t child protective services removed her from their home until this whole thing can be sorted out?
