Casey Anthony’s attorneys will argue against release of jailhouse video this morning
WATCH LIVE STREAM OF HEARING HERE:
Casey Anthony’s attorneys will argue to keep the public from seeing the infamous video tape of her reaction to Caylee’s body being found, this morning at 10:00 am. The argument is that Casey’s rights were violated and that the video was “staged” by the prosecution and jail just so they could record her reaction. Her attorneys also feels that it will further taint the jury pool, causing more problems for her in getting a fair trial.
Also included on the tape is Baez conferring with Casey later that day. Baez claims that is a violation of attorney/client privilege. (even though there is no audio)
Bill Shaeffer, Eyewitness News Legal Analyst said, “Why is it so critical for Baez’s team to keep that video away from the media? Well, the saying is a picture is worth a thousand words,”
Shaeffer says that even if Baez does claim Anthony’s right to privacy has been violated, Judge Strickland will still probably release the video to the public because, “Look, where is she? She’s in jail. Does she have a right to privacy, in the jail? And the answer to that is no, she does not,” explained Sheaffer.
The defense will also be arguing to get phone photo and text message records of a dozen key players in the case, including: Roy Kronk, the man who found Caylee’s remains and Jesse Grund, Casey’s ex-fiance, and Cindy and George Anthony. Several of the witnesses have balked at this, saying it is a violation of their rights.
New death qualified attorney, Andrea Lyon, and Casey Anthony are expected to be at today’s hearing.
