Are we finally gonna find out how Casey Anthony is paying Jose Baez?

July 21, 2009

jose with caseyWell what do ya know.  We may get to find out how Jose and company are getting paid.  Judge Strickland granted a state motion today requesting that a court reporter transcribe everything that was said in the side bar conference during the March 25th hearing.  That was when the state made a motion to reveal how Casey Anthony was paying for all those high-powered high-profile circus performers (oops I meant to say attorneys) that hitched their wagons to her defense.  Judge Strickland came out of that in camera meeting saying that he was satisfied that everyone was playing by the rules and there was no conflict of interest for Jose where Casey was concerned.

The state attorney’s office asked that this private meeting be transcribed for Casey’s murder trial, and the judge ordered the court reporter to have it typed up and in his hands by 5 PM Thursday.

If the prosecution uses the transcript at trial we will all finally know exactly how Baez and his compadres are being paid and what kind of financial agreement they really have.

    Yes Mystery*
I would also love to know who is paying. I read on another blog that it’s some man in Arizona. Can’t even imagine having that much money and throwing it all away for a mother who killed her baby. Hope the guy doesn’t hang around wanting a Thank you. He won’t get it from her.

I had heard it was some family in Ct. or New York or somewhere back East. The only reason I can think of as to why someone would foot such a large bill would be if they had a personal stake in it. JMO

Hot diggity dog! I’m really intrigued by the fact they requested these transcripts right on the heels of Bozo sending that money order to BofA. Somethin smells fishy there……

    don’t it though????

Hiya my l♥velies…we have got our super emoticons back again…thanks WordPress

Ostella there is definately something very fishy going on…don’t forget that Bozo sent B.O.A. a MONEY ORDER not a cheque…that way they won’t know WHO paid…do you think it was the Ants? 🙄

    Diana you posed the 64,000 dollar question…something we all want to know 😆 Early on someone in Melbourne Australia {Eastern Oz} was putting money in her commish a/c…really 👿 that it should be from one of my countrymen. {I say “men” because the mind boggles at the thought of a female doing this 😳 }

We realize that Bozo wants the fraud case deferred until after the murder trial…if it goes ahead I wonder if he paid up in readiness to plead KC guilty…that would be the smart thing to do 😀

    Hugs ♥♥♥

I have always believed that it is the mysterious family in Conneticut that is paying the legal bills. But to be precise, I do not think it is a ‘family’.

My personal theory is that Jose has brokered multiple entertainment deals based on the case, like movies, TV shows, and books (which is why he likes to compare the case to The Fugitive and other entertainment products). There are a lot of laws that vary by state regarding ownership and profit distribution and even accounting methods for entertaiment properties. California, being the base of many productions and studios, has very intense, creator-friendly laws about these matters. I believe the Conneticut has very few laws about these matters and those that do exist are more in favor of the money men. Therefore, many entertainment deals are brokered away from California and in places like Conneticut.

I believe Jose has contracted with an entertainment development firm for future production of products based on this case. Part of that deal is they foot any legal expenses to get them all to the point that they can openly sell the products. When Jose started getting in trouble by running his mouth to the press early on, this firm contracted the Todd Black firm, which is why Jose blindly accepted them and then was broadsided by the whole Todd Black is a criminal in disguise media disaster.

The CT firm has been donating money stating they are a family, and perhaps they are, it would not be too unusual for this kind of company to be controlled by a family.

Identify either the family or who hired Todd Black in the first place or who Jose met with when he travelled to NY (CT’s backyard, it would have been incredibly easy for him to slip over the border for a private meeting) way back at the beginning of all of this last year and you found the person paying for this defense.

As to why would they pay? For profits. Jose, the firm, and all of the dream team stand to profit big no matter how the trial ends. What would an entertainment firm pay for the exclusive stories of the entire dream team as one big gift wrapped set?

I answered most of the comments before Jill’s within the comment boxes.

Hey Jill. I’m gonna post the Shepherd’s Pie recipe with Guinness for you this weekend, “Through The Garden Gate”. (link on the left side of this blog) I haven’t made it in ages and my mouth is watering just thinkin’ about it. The only thing that could make it better would be if it were snowing outside instead of being hot enough to fry eggs on the sidewalk!

    Spacely,

Your theory makes perfect sense, but for one thing. What could Baez have said or shown to Judge Strickland that would make him believe there is no conflict of interest?

Typically, financing of the defense is not an issue that is ever raised. I do not believe there are even any regulations about who can pay for the defense. The issue when Jose spoke to the judge in private was whether or not Jose himself had an agreement with Casey that would allow him to profit directly from a sale of Casey’s story rights, which could be construed as a conflict of interest as it would give Jose a personal motive to direct the case in a manner that might not be in the best interest of his client, which could be used as grounds for a mistrial by Casey.

I believe that Jose is smart enough to realize he could not have such a deal in place. Casey herself made a statement that she had not signed over any rights to Jose. I think Jose showed the money trail as being donated by an anynomous third party from CT. That is as far as the judge was allowed by law to go. Without a signed agreement between Jose and Casey, there are no grounds for a mistrial – which was the purpose of the hearing.

I think the prosecution is going to make the links between the third party being an entertainment development firm and an agreement with Casey directly that was brokered by Jose. In other words, there is a contract, but it is signed by Casey that was worked out by Jose when he went to NY and the original signed copies shuttled between Casey and the firm by Jose. I am not sure yet as to the legal thrust of doing so by the prosecution, perhaps just to ensure that Casey is not allowed to profit from such a deal if she is found guilty.

Jose has even admitted that he is acting as postmaster general for the Anthony family by delivering letters between Casey and her family as she resides in jail. I beleive this to be highly illegal and wish someone in authority would bring this up in court.

    Spacely–

Thanks for answering that. Your “theory” gets my vote. It ties together all the seemingly random players that keep popping up and articulates perfectly why “someone” would be bankrolling Caylee Anthony’s defense. Jose Baez better watch out–His house of cards may come tumbling down. It appears that he built that house on shifting sands!

Spacely 😎 to catch up with you…the Ozzy office now multitasks along with “Thwack a Troll Down Under Inc” a division of “Whack a Troll Inc” set up by Ostella and supported by all here and at Niecey’s blog. {see right hand side for link to Niecey…we all hang out at both sites…gr8 people!} By looking out for each other we have managed to avoid the backbiting that so often troubles other blogs.

Your explanation of how Bozo is manipulating the funds is extremely plausible…we rarely give this twit any credit but after reading his resume and track record I suspect he is quite savvy when it comes to lining his pockets with $$$’s. Shall we call it the “C.C.” … the Conneticut Connection?

Mystery my taste buds are hanging out for your recipe…I will look for it next week…thanks 😛

    Hugs to all ♥♥♥
