Why is the State Attorney’s office taking George & Cindy Anthony to court? UPDATE

July 23, 2009

The hearing, as the Anthony’s attorney, Brad Conway,  predicted has been cancelled.

A court hearing involving the parents of Casey Anthony was canceled on Friday.Brad Conway, the attorney who represents the Anthony family, arrived at the courthouse around 9 a.m.”I’m going to give the state attorney’s office what they need. I expect the hearing to be canceled,” Conway said.

Two things come to mind: Whatever it was the prosecution wanted, Brad Conway did not want made public within a hearing. And, apparently whatever it was, the Anthonys didn’t want the prosecution to have it either.  I wonder if the Anthonys didn’t bank on the state attorney office taking them to court to get it, and thought they could just ignore the request.

The State Attorney’s office will ask Judge Stan Strickland to force George and Cindy Anthony to produce information for the state’s case against their daughter, Casey Anthony, on Friday.  The hearing is set for 1:30 PM. The Anthonys had been asked to produce this information but had not done so.

According to Brad Conway, the Anthonys attorney, George and Cindy simply have not been able to provide whatever documents the state is seeking in the time frame provided.  Conway said they are going to turn the documents over to prosecutors and he doesn’t foresee there even being a hearing tomorrow.

“The Anthonys have no problem providing the documentation the state has requested,” Conway said.
“We’re in the process of turning them over.”

What those documents might contain has not been revealed at this point.   Conway said, ” I can’t say.  It’s not something that I can comment on.”

The State Attorney’s Office would not comment either.

Call me stupid, but if the Anthonys were, as Conway said, unable to provide what the State wanted in the time frame they were given, how is it that they are able to turn it over now, right before their butts are hauled into court???  Why did they wait until threatened with a hearing?  And what is it they didn’t want to turn over???

Hmmmm………Could it be the J.C. Penny credit card bills that Cindy was supposed to give to LE but kept dodging? Or perhaps the paperwork concerning the will that gives George and Cindy custody of Caylee if something happened to Casey.

I wonder if it has anything to do with providing proof that George was in therapy after his suicide attempt. I believe he and Cindy had the depositions delayed due to their mental instability. This is just a guess on my part.

Did Casey use a different phone when she was out on bond? Could LE want that info?

I wonder if this could have anything to do with the BOA moneyorder? Maybe they want financial records…. OOOOOOOH! Lightning bolt! What if…. ???

It’s a mystery 2 me!! But, if I had to venture a guess, I would think it would have to be something related to Casey and the murder case. That would probably eliminate George’s suicide attempt–and, I don’t think there really was a will leaving Caylee to the Anthonys–plus that also wouldn’t really have anything to do with the murder trial. The credit card bills, Cindy said she handed over to Baez….

Phone records are an interesting thought…

Ostella, I’m having a brain fart–what does BOA stand for?

Here’s a little more info–sounds like BS to me:

Conway said, “The state has requested certain documents stored in the Anthonys’ computer and it’s not going as quickly as the state wants. The Anthonys’ computer has been down, and they have not been able to produce certain documents.”

you guys are funny!! I say the credit card info that cindy never gave to them. hmm & “documents” stored in their computer. anything to do with the foundation? by the way, if your computer has been down for some time & you’re running a “business” online, you should prolly have it fixed RIGHT AWAY! sounds like another dodge game by the ant’s. always trying to have the upper hand them.
I wonder how long the state has been waiting for this info?

That’s the image I had in my head–a snake.

Obviously, if Conway says it will be in the prosecution’s hands before they can get to court tomorrow, they really did have access to whatever it is if they wanted to. I imagine they were just trying to cause aggravation. It’s also obvious that it must be important or the prosecution wouldn’t bother dragging them to court.

I still think it has to be something to do with the the case. The foundation is outside the murder trial.

I agree Mystery…it has to have something to do with the murder case..and PLEASE..COMPUTER DOWN??? That would mean they could lose a potential penny some unknowing poor soul may donate…Cindy would NEVER let that happen…they need the money…profits are down…bills have to be paid!!!
Plain and simple they were playing the delay game…it’s something that happens in cases such as this…and Conway is in agreement…he/they are not fooling the Judge…I’m sure he has seen it a million or more times…JMO…

LOL! Note to self, BOA is not Bank Of America, but a new snake preditor, Boa Constrictor with $$$ signs on it’s back. Wonder what they call that Boa? I think Bozo has one named Johnny.
Seriously, the computer was working in June because the foundation vacation to Ohio’s pics were uploaded. Hmmmm……. I hope they drag them into court. I think there should be a tongue lashing from the Judge about the Law. JMO.

Yes, Bozo released his deadly pet Boa Moneyorder Snake, named F. Lee Bailey, into the wild cuz it got so big he couldn’t feed it anymore. He was feeding it blood money all this time, but the dirtycashwell has been a lil dry lately. So now F. Lee Bailey is freeslithering around Orlando. He’s been spotted in close proximity to the Hopespring house/ Hellmouth, where food is abundant year-round. However he was last seen at the bank, where he’s been known to dine in moments of extreme gluttony. You should be safe in the panhandle, Niecey. But be careful anyway, just in case.

I would think that whatever the state wants, it must be something that pertains to the month Caylee was missing before being reported to the authorities. It must also be something that the police are unable to obtain elsewhere, which eliminates phone records, wills, credit card bills, etc. because the prosecution can suponea those records from the companies or attorneys directly.

The police did take the Ant’s computer about a year ago, so I would think anything pertaining to the case that they wanted, their experts would have taken at that time. Plus, if it was truly a computer thing, the prosecution could require the computer to again be taken as evidence to prevent tampering.

I admit, I am stumped. It has to be some sort of documentation that only the family would have a copy. All I can think of are personal letters, but I can’t think of why the police would want them.

I am very interested to see what happens this afternoon.

    Go Strickland!!!

jill–we’ll have to see if they turn the stuff over before the hearing. Not sure that we will know if they did it or not, and also am pretty confident we won’t be told what they’re turning over. A chance we would know if they have to go to court and it’s televised.

Spacely–Wonder if it’s the diary? I seem to remember somewhere seeing Cindy argue with her lawyer, insisting she had the diary, not LE.

Diary is very possible, or maybe even Cindy’s diary – not that I know if she has one, but maybe she was keeping some kind of records of her contact with Casey during late June / early July.

Your comment about Cindy argueing with a lawyer makes me think that maybe she said something during her depo with Morgan that the prosecution picked up on because she did talk a lot about her personal records and research. That would be so funny. And Karmic.

I am really hoping something happens this afternoon that causes Cindy to go all bug-eyed and flip out on TV again. I would love to see her talk to Strickland like she did to Morgan because I am fairly sure that will end with her in a cell.

The last I heard was that if they have the hearing at all, Cindy and George won’t be there–just their attorney.

I have to be gone for about 4 hours and will probably miss all the action if there is any, dang it!
