Mark NeJame holds Haleigh Cummings press conference today
Haleigh Cummings’ family joined attorney, Mark NeJame, and TES founder Tim Miller at a mid-morning press conference today.
“We just want somebody to look for her,” a visably upset Teresa Neves (grandmother of Haleigh) said.
NeJame and Miller have decided to do just that. He doesn’t feel there has been a lot of public attention being given to this case. When Neves approached him for help, “My heart went out to her…Her grief was apparent,” he said.
NeJame called the press conference to announce that Texas Equusearch would be searching for Haleigh once again—though it won’t be any time soon. It will be at least 6 weeks to 2 months before volunteers will be able to search the area again due to the heavy vegetation this time of year.
They plan to search new areas as well as those they’ve already gone over, and all leads will be explored.
“My heart’s breaking for them,” said Miller. “This is one day that they did not want to go through without Haleigh here, and that’s her birthday. We want to do everything we can do to make sure that they do not go through the next birthday without having Haleigh back home safely, or without having the remains and having that funeral,” he said.
Ron Cummings, Haleigh’s father, was quiet during the news conference, saying only that the past months have been “extremely hard.”
I’m glad Tim Miller is going to search again, even if it will be weeks before they start, but mostly I’m glad Mark NeJame has taken this case on. Maybe now some answers will be uncovered. I don’t think he scares easily, and if there’s any “funny business” going on, either in the community or the police department, I don’t think he’ll go quietly back where he came from without creating lotsa noise!
