Locals say this particular pond, if you go by boat, comes within a mile of where Haleigh Cummings lives.  Her family is now saying the police have told them this search is related to Haleigh.

12:30 pm CSTSome news stations are now saying that LE has denied that the pond was drained in order to search for Haleigh Cummings.  They are saying that police were looking for stolen items taken from a nearby home.  From what I can tell, that’s a heck of a lot of work to look for stolen items.  Plus how do they explain the statements of  director of LE for the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Major Gary Bowling?

“We’re searching it for evidence in the Haleigh Cummings case.”

Hmmmmm.  Very strange, don’t you think?………….

There have been a lot of unconfirmed rumors swirling that Haleigh’s body has been found. An unconfirmed source said that although Haleigh’s body has not been recovered, evidence in the case was uncovered.  This is now being denied by the Sheriff’s department.

Palatka Daily News spoke with Major Gary Bowling, Director of LE for the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

“We got out here and we determined to do this the best, and really, to lessen the risk to divers, we needed to pump out a large volume of the water,” Bowling said. “We’re going to pump out a majority of the water and take a look and we’ll be back in business.”

Though several ponds have been checked since Haleigh disappeared, this is the first one to be drained.  It’s also the first time this heavily wooded, underdeveloped private property has been searched, according to nearby neighbors. It’s difficult to access and bulldozers had to widen a dirt road through the trees so pumping equipment could be brought to the site.

The Mondex property, SW of Palatka near State Road 19, is notorious as a party location sometimes drawing large crowds. It is located near a part of the St. Johns River, directly across from Satsuma. There is a lot of trash in the area.  Marijuana plants being grown in pots next to the pond were part of the police find.  This area is extremely swampy and is difficult to search.

“The character of this area is that it is soaking wet,” Bowling said. “We’re searching it for evidence in the Haleigh Cummings case.”

Tips and information from recent jail interviews prompted the search.  Three inmates were interviewed as well as Hank Tommy Croslin, Jr, recently arrested for grand theft with a hefty $50,000 bond.  His wife Lindsy, and another brother, Tommy and his wife were also interviewed. Police deny the inmate interviews had anything to do with Haleigh.  They also deny that Tommy gave them any information.

“We’ve had to prioriitze tips in this case,” Bowling said.  “This body of water has been brought up on a couple of occasions.”

Annette Sykes, Haleigh’s paternal great-grandmother, said she had received word of the activity and immediately went to the scene where deputies and investigators were working in the woods Friday night.  She questioned them and asked if they were looking for Haleigh, but they wouldn’t say yes or no, and she was kept from going any closer to the search area.  She feels certain the search has something to do with Haleigh.

First Coast News also contacted Ron Cummings, but he said no one had called him in regards to Haleigh being found.  He did say he doesn’t expect to be the first notified.

A detective said Haleigh’s mother, Crystal Sheffield, contacted the Sheriff’s Office with questions about what was going on in Putnam County Friday.

Marie Griffis, Haleigh’s grandmother, also told First Coast News she has not been contacted by the sheriff’s office and is unaware of any findings.

read below:

Has Tommy already buckled under police pressure?  It was suspected that his bond was set so high in order to give him the “opportunity” to share what he really knows with LE.

And what an odd thing for Ron Cummings to say.  Haleigh’s custodial parent doesn’t expect to be the first one notified if Haleigh were found?  Why?

I’m thinking a big break in this case is coming if it isn’t already here.

Hey Mystery! Very interesting. I think a break in the case is coming, if not already, like you said. I could see them being tight lipped and denying things until they had certain confirmations, and that would be normal. I don’t believe they drained a pond for stolen merchandise. They don’t do that in Florida. They won’t go in bad neighborhoods after stolen property, much less a waterway surrounded by swamp with dozers to widen the road, divers and draining, NO. If this is for real, and it sounds as though it is, you’ll start hearing things within 24 to 48 hours, depending on what they found.

    Hi Niecey!

I agree. If you watch the video you see quite a few people in the water. You don’t risk lives with the possibility of snakes or worse in the water for stolen property.

I’ve been checking out the updates and they have confirmed this is about Haleigh. They have also confirmed that it is in regards to a tip, but deny that it came from Tommy or Nay Nay or the unnamed person they recently interviewed. I watched that video. I think the truth is about to be revealed. JMO.

Here’s what Blink is sayin about it all:

I’m thinkin they’re tryin to keep it as hush-hush as possible, to not tip anybody off, and probably to protect whoever spilled the tip that brought them there….

mystery~~ first off I want to thank You for keeping the Interest in the Haleigh
    Cummins Case going.
All the newest Information about this Case through Your Post and the Commenters are very much appreciated.
Haleigh has been missing now for 7 month, that is a very long time for a little Girl
like her. Should she be found, there sadly will only skeleton Remains be recovered just like with Caylee Anthony.
I hope this Search will be productive and Haleigh can be found and laid to Rest.
Naturally I would rather have her being found alive and well. I believe that is just
    hopeful Thinking.
There was a Glimmer of Hope a while back when it was reported there was a Sighting of Haleigh in Mass. at a Wal-mart. Nothing ever came of that!
I didn’t think it would, I was hoping never less she would be ok.
Now, I believe All we can hope for is for Haleigh’s Remains to be found and let
    Justice start working from there.
I don’t know what is going on in this World anymore. I just don’t understand
why People hurt innocent Children or for that matter, any one who is defenseless
and ends up as a Victim of Violence and or Murder.

Thanks for all the links Niecey and Ostella!

Hilde–I think you are right unfortunately. There are some evil people in this world for sure that could hurt an innocent child.

I hope this case is breaking open now and we will soon know what happened to Haleigh. People don’t drain a 5 acre pond and go over it with a fine tooth comb for a bunch of stolen merchandise. The police have admitted that it is Haleigh related and I hope whoever gave them this information didn’t send them on a wild goose chase. As much as I hope Haleigh is alive, I don’t think there’s much chance.

I think there is much to be said about this new information about Haleigh o.d and being put into the bag, all of the sudden people who have never been mentioned are getting nervous and trying to cover there butts, like the letter from “nay nay”, it read to me more like she was enforcing her aliby to the person she sent it to. This guy Greg admits to sleeping with Misty around the same time, but c’mon, they are all uneducated wack jobs, do we really believe they are smart enough to have stashed Haleigh’s body somewhere the police couldn’t find her? One more thing that I need to get off my mind, parents, if you are not the custodial parent, and one of your two children came up missing from the person who does have custody, are you going to sit and do nothing, or are you going to run to the court house to get custody of the second child? Why hasn’t Ron Jr. been removed from Ron? I think Haleigh’s mother needs to grow up and take care of her kids, get involved. I’m sick aat how little she knows about the case of her baby. I know more and I am accross the continent.
