UPDATE:

PCSO Media Release, Sept 21, 2009

Putnam County Media release september 21—————————————————————————————————————

News stations are reporting that the massive draining and search of a pond in the Haleigh Cummings case was a failure.

Detectives say the divers found no clues related to Haleigh’s disappearance, and have yet to say what they were looking for in the first place.

“There is nothing in there,” Maj. Gary Bowling of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said this morning.  “We did a search last weekend and the weekend before,” related to the case, he said. “We do searches all the time.”  He add that they expect to do another search next weekend.

The water is being put back in the pond. “We heard a bunch of different rumors, a bunch of different things. We heard they were looking for a stolen car to begin with, we heard they found Haleigh, found a bunch of marijuana plants, but you don’t really know what the truth is because no one will tell you,” said a local that lives near the pond.

So the truth remains a question mark.  Did the search really turn up nothing or is the Sheriff’s office continuing to keep what they know under tight wraps?  I hope it’s the later, and that arrests are coming soon.

I wouldn’t trust anything LE says about the search at this point. They lied lied lied about it, and then probably lied some more. Either they’re trying to protect whoever spilled all and directed them there (and what they really found), or they did a really sloppy, hasty once-over of the area, with no established cover-story for the media, wasted a ton of resources and manpower, and walked away twiddlin their thumbs and whistlin… I’m calling shananigans on LE.
Besides, they already admitted they found something there (physical evidence) related to the case. Now they’re sayin, “Woops, not really?”
    Hmmmmmm…..

I’m hoping beyond hope that they HAVE found something and we WILL hear something substantial this week. They’re just keeping it under their belts.

I really have a feeling there’s been a break in the case. Sadly, I don’t think the outcome will be what we want to here……

Me too Mystery…. Sadly, I don’t think Haleigh is with us anymore. I just hope they can get to the bottom of it all….

    Ostella,

I know–and the longer this draws out, the less chance they will ever find out what happened to that baby.

This is really a hard bit of news to digest.

On the one hand, it does seem like they are at least trying to make progress and did get some info, but it is dissappointing they didn’t find anything.

On the other hand, I am estatic they did not find Haleigh in that pond. I dreaded all weekend hearing the news that they found her in a similar fashion to Sandra Cantu.

On the third hand that we all should have for these kind of situations, I understand that my personal feelings are of no consequence and am willing to endure any amount of personal discomfort if we could only find Haleigh.

I am holding onto the hope that Haleigh is alive and well and will continue to do so until she is found. Unlike Cindy, I encourage any search for her, alive or dead. Every search eliminates the unknown and brings us closer to the truth.

    Mystery,

Check out this update. Tommy may be the key to solving this case.

Thanks for that link, Spacely. Very interesting. If NO ONE was home, who had the kids? Jr. had to have been somewhere? Were they with Misty and something happened to Haleigh? But then, if no one was there except the children, completely alone and sleeping, anyone could have come in and taken Haleigh–Jr. could have slept right through it.

It also certainly backs up Ron’s story that he was at work–or does it? Why did Ron not tell about calling Tommy?
