Tipster’s letter released in the Haleigh Cumming’s case

September 29, 2009

The St. Augustine Record has released the contents of the letter left at their offices by a tipster last week.  It contained specific information as to where Haleigh might be buried.

“Check the back of father’s mobile home. From the right end of the mobile home extending out continue for 540 yards straight. At that point go north 12 yards. Dig 2-3 feet, will strike metal covering an old well, check inside, black plastic garbage bag. Circumstances extend statewide and beyond.”

The letter was typewritten and signed with the initials, “SAM”

LE said they searched the area but came up with nothing.

“Detectives thoroughly followed up on the information provided, but the tip did not lead to HaLeigh,” Capt. Dick Schauland with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said Monday. “They had cadaver dogs down there.  This is an area that had been searched prior, also, it turned out. They had cadaver dogs down there earlier also. So it’s been searched really well”

The woman that delivered the letter said she was a messenger for an older man that was once an FBI informant.  She also said the man had “special abilities”, but Schauland would not say if those “abilities” were psychic in nature.

“We have not talked to him,” said Schauland. “We’ve asked her to bring him in. I don’t know if she’ll be able to or not.”

Seriously?  They haven’t talked to him because she hasn’t brought him in and he doesn’t know if she’ll be able to or not?  Why haven’t they gone to where he is? Whether he’s a nut (more than likely) or really does know something, he should at the least be interviewed personally before they blow him off.  GEEZ!!

And let’s just hope they dug for the well, instead of just having the dogs sniff around. I’m sorry, I really thought they were on it with zest and zeal now, but I keep seeing these things where they are dropping the ball, and I wonder if this is just a show.

What’s up with all these apparently phony-bologne letters floating around Satsuma right now? Is there a supersweet chicken fried chain letter contest or something?

    This just makes me irritated….

Did LE swear this woman as a Deputy…if not…and I doubt they did…why on earth would the responsibility of bringing this man in fall on her????

I don’t think this Department cares if they ever find Haleigh they have dragged their feet from Day One…not to mention dropping the ball in the’s a little late in the game to start MISSING PERSONS 101…BARNEY FIFE could do a better job…

I thought perhaps when they assigned new investigators to the case things might change…but this group of LE Officials lack the knowledge and experience to get this case solved.
They could have asked for assistance from the State Police and the FBI…why are they still trying to learn on the job after 7 months???

This little girl deserves to be found and laid to rest…I doubt she is alive….JMO….

Because the Sheriff’s office has been reluctant to share ANY information and then the information they do share contradicts itself half the time, it’s really impossible to make any sense out of it.

What makes the least sense to me at all, is the fact that Misty Cummings Croslin has not been arrested. They’ve arrested every relative and acquaintance of hers within a 100 mile radius on unimportant charges, but they can’t find anything to arrest her for?

Good chance this case will be one of the unsolved ones, and no one will ever know what happened to little Haleigh. Disgusting.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: If you must travel through Satsuma, or near it, make sure you don’t have to stop there and whatever you do stay on the Interstate and keep on truckin’! DO NOT STOP THERE! Unbelievable….

They haven’t arrested Misty because they don’t want to interrupt her secret mission to Orlando where she is attending the Anthony Academy of Obstruction. learning the difference between half-truths and mistruths. Of course all of her free time is spent on their boat cruising for missing kids.

A commenter left this link on an earlier post and asked if any of us could verify it.

I found his bio and he is credible, but I haven’t seen this info anywhere else so don’t know if it’s true or not at this point. (and who the heck knows what the truth is or isn’t in this crazy case–even after something’s been verified!) He refers to a priest and I didn’t think they were Catholic. He’s supposed to post what she’s been doing out of town on that site today.

    Here’s his website with bio.

Interesting. Have read some of his stuff, but don’t know about that. That first site is relatively new. I’ve really only noticed him posting on Haleigh’s case recently. Like in the past month or so.

UPDATE: That post and all comments were deleted. Click on it and you a 404 not found. Either there was something to sensitive or it was bogus and someone got in trouble. I don’t know which, but it’s gone.

    Hey niecey–

He deleted that post and then put up this one:

–the guy says he thinks he may have been misled–Nooooo!!!!! In this case? Someone would mislead you??? Seriously??????? Says he took the post down until he finds out the truth. Good luck with that, Steph. Truth is not a hot commodity in Satsuma.

Amazing and what’s even funnier is the old one is reposted below it. Is this a game?
    Have you seen BNN’s latest???
Wonder if they are criticizing Steph?
What’s worse, is if you read the comments, Simon concedes media types get it wrong in defense of his and Art’s missed shots.
I like them and all, but that goes for all. Right?
This is all too weird. I’m with you, I don’t think anyone, and I mean ANYONE is going to get the truth out of Satsuma.

I saw a clip of Ms. Neves’ interview with “Miss Nancy” last night. Still spinnin. According to her, Misty and Ron and Jr had planned all along to go to Universal, or Disneyworld, or wherever, last week. But at the last minute, Ron and Jr couldn’t go. So Misty went alone.

She went on to say that Misty is now back home with Ron, everything’s hunky-dory, except that pesky little fact that Misty won’t talk to police. Why, you ask? Cuz she’s waiting on her lawyer…

Oh, and she doesn’t believe anything Misty’s family says about the night Haleigh vanished, cuz “they’re a disfunctional family.”
