Tipster’s letter released in the Haleigh Cumming’s case
The St. Augustine Record has released the contents of the letter left at their offices by a tipster last week. It contained specific information as to where Haleigh might be buried.
“Check the back of father’s mobile home. From the right end of the mobile home extending out continue for 540 yards straight. At that point go north 12 yards. Dig 2-3 feet, will strike metal covering an old well, check inside, black plastic garbage bag. Circumstances extend statewide and beyond.”
The letter was typewritten and signed with the initials, “SAM”
LE said they searched the area but came up with nothing.
“Detectives thoroughly followed up on the information provided, but the tip did not lead to HaLeigh,” Capt. Dick Schauland with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said Monday. “They had cadaver dogs down there. This is an area that had been searched prior, also, it turned out. They had cadaver dogs down there earlier also. So it’s been searched really well”
The woman that delivered the letter said she was a messenger for an older man that was once an FBI informant. She also said the man had “special abilities”, but Schauland would not say if those “abilities” were psychic in nature.
“We have not talked to him,” said Schauland. “We’ve asked her to bring him in. I don’t know if she’ll be able to or not.”
Seriously? They haven’t talked to him because she hasn’t brought him in and he doesn’t know if she’ll be able to or not? Why haven’t they gone to where he is? Whether he’s a nut (more than likely) or really does know something, he should at the least be interviewed personally before they blow him off. GEEZ!!
