Brad Conway’s release of the documents the prosecution should have released was nothing more than spin

Brad Conway, attorney for George and Cindy Anthony, released documents this morning that he claims raise serious questions about the state’s “scientific” case.  During a press conference, Conway released documents that included the results of an FBI test.  He said the test indicated that fibers from the duct tape on Caylee’s mouth don’t match fibers from the tape that was on the Anthony’s gas can.  He says that contradicts earlier reports that there was some sort of match between the two tapes.  According to the Anthonys, they say this supports what they’ve been saying all along.  They want their daughter to have a fair trial without automatically assuming she is guilty.   That information along with what the prosecution released Tuesday, saying there was not a DNA match between Casey and DNA on the tape, raises questions about the state’s case.

“It was easy in the beginning to say well, you know, the duct tape on the gas can and the duct tape at the crime scene, they’re similar, and people draw conclusions from that,” Conway said. “Now we have an FBI report that says they’re dissimilar, that they’re not matched. Now I think the view of the land is a little bit more accurate than it was six months ago.”

The Anthonys think this is some sort of major breakthrough.  They feel the documents they have released will help Casey’s defense and they are attempting to change public opinion that Casey is guilty.

WFTV legal analyst, Bill Sheaffer disagrees with their conclusions,  and says the documents don’t prove anything. He says the information they released is focused on the duct tape found on Caylee’s mouth and on the gas can at the Anthony home.   The FBI concluded the adhesive on both was chemically the same and that it’s possible for both pieces of tape to be from the same roll.  Conway released page 9588 of the state’s case file, which says the fabric portions of the two pieces of duct tape are microscopically dissimilar.

“There are links that have been made in the past that can’t be made now,” Conway said.

But Sheaffer says Conway’s document does nothing to rule out the link between the two pieces of  duct tape.

“You’re gonna have deterioration of the tape at the crime scene, because it’s been sitting there for months under water,” Shaeffer said.

Conway also released a new document which says the FBI found no fibers at the crime scene that matched the fibers in Casey’s trunk.  But, previous documents show that Caylee’s shirt had completely deteriorated at the scene and that they used the polyester, which did not break down, to identify it as her shirt.  There would be no way that fibers from the trunk of the car would have survived.  Conway also said there was an unidentified hair on the duct tape but later retracted that statement saying he didn’t have any documents that supported that and that he did not hear that from the defense.

Well, obviously that was all bluster.  His bombshell evidence was a dud, and this was just the latest effort on the Anthony’s part to create reasonable doubt.  Sorry, Brad.  Nothing you said today created even a whisper of a doubt.

It was not on any of the news channels here. i’m glad they’re not giving them any more air time on this drivel. maybe they’ll get the message. . . .

And the tape is still a rare type of tape. found at the house & with caylee. what are the odds that “some other” murderer had the same rare type of tape that the anthony home had.

I didn’t think you were supposed to get on tv to try & change peoples minds on whether someone is guilty or not guilty, isn’t that what the trial is for? Isn’t that trying to sway potential jurors? People are not stupid, they will decide for themselves, they need to just let it play out.

It wasn’t on XM radio either. Just a blip on Fox & HLN after the fact. I was trying to find it as I was on the road.

Unbelievable that they can get away with that. What the heck does Conway have to say about any of it? I think Bozo put him up to it. No other explanation makes sense.

Brad is as pathetic as the 2 clients he represents.

I think it’s taking a toll on him. He didn’t look very well yesterday.

I feel a little bad for Brad Conway. Why doesn’t he get away from these people while he still has a shred of credibility. Can’t he see that they are bottom feeders who destroy everyone who comes in contact with them.

He’s lasted longer than anyone else that has tried to help the A’s, but see my comment above. I don’t think he looks too good.

It did seem to be a waste of time. I wonder if the A’s have their passports ready so they can go to p.r. to look for the little Caylee look alike. I don’t how the state of Florida’s morgue works but in Indiana they don’t say your child is dead if they are not id through dna or positive id by family member. They should all work for the sanition department because they sure talk a lot of trash! Jill tie your shoes tight!! Good morning or afternoon to you. I am going to bed now.

And we all know that of course it works that way in Florida, too. Unbelievable.

So the fibers on the tape don’t match up with the fibers in the trunk of Casey’s car. Oooh! I’m shakin’ for fear this info will free Casey… HA! It could be those fibers are a perfect match to fibers found in Casey’s bedroom or Caylee’s bedroom… Sorry, Casey, you’re not free yet, as if!

Plus, as we know, fibers don’t cling to bones, and Caylee’s clothes had disintegrated. Nothing left for fibers to cling to even if they had not disintegrated, too.

    Worst. Spin doctor. Ever.

I agree! What they need is a PROFESSIONAL spin doctor–but I don’t even think that would help.

Hey Laura…I have a “Bombshell” to report…wonder if it will make the headlines?

“Jill from Western Australia is contemplating suing everyone connected with the Anthony’s & their defense. She wants compensation for many pairs of shoelaces which were destroyed due to double tying whilst watching or reading every statement made by them.”

    {Disclaimer…do not take this seriously as I don’t want to be in Rosebud’s bad books :mrgreen: }

Gee what fun it was watching Brad flippin’ through his papers…he certainly didn’t do his homework very thoroughly!

WHO provided the docs to the Ants?

IMO Conway was waaaaayyyy out of order releasing this jury tainting press conference.

Brad…please tell Rosebud that the reason we dislike her is due entirely to HER own actions…if she had kept her mouth shut we may have continued to feel compassion for her!

Thanks for the links Mystery…wish Bees ♥Bill would discuss this in greater detail.

    Hugs ♥♥♥

I agree with you, Jill. Brad must not have prepared at all because he got stumped on that question about a hair on the tape. If he had carefully read the FBI report, he would have seen it was a piece of female DNA, not that it really makes any difference to the case, but it just shows the attorneys involved in the case (and not just attorneys, but attorneys who announce press conferences) aren’t really putting any effort into this (or if they are, I would hate to think how badly they handle their less important cases). I guess when you use professionals who don’t get paid like these pro bono legal eagles, you get what you pay for.

Hi-Answered within the comment boxes above Jill’s comments.

Jill–LOL! Yeah, Conway had to have been secretly cursing under his breath on that one.

“Damn! Nobody told me I might be challenged on any of this stuff!!!”

when I listened to Brad Conway it was like listening to George and Cindy Anthony, all I could do is just shaking my Head. What a Non Sense coming out of Conway’s mouth. It is so easy to see what he is trying to do, establishing a reasonable Doubt that there just isn’t any Way Casey A. could have committed that Crime.
Well despite all their Efforts to convince any future Jurors, the Evidence collected in this Case will prove otherwise.
I think it is in poor taste for Brad Conway or any of the Anthony Clan to constantly appear in the Media and making outrageous Comments about this Case and trying to convince the Public of Casey’s Innocence. Let’s wait till the trial should it ever finally start and let the Evidence speak for itself and then the Jurors will inform us of their Decision and their Verdict.
Till then I wish the Defense and Brad Conway who speaks for the A’s should just stay quietly in the Background and watch Justice go to work for Caylee Marie Anthony.
Myself I am not interested what Spin Conway or the the Defense is coming up with next, its just their Opinion and we aren’t asking for it.
I rather listen to actual Facts and Evidence in this Case than all the Excuses why Casey A. couldn’t have done that! JMO

I got such a kick out of reading these. If U knew Brad…OMG if u knew him. He cant stand to loose, he will twist things so tight …He is a liar, and he is only out for fame….He likes everyone to think he is a great person but he is not…I hope he reads this…He LOST this case cuz I figured out ALL the lies. Someday it WILL all catch up to him if it hasnt already. There is a reason people dislike lawyers…Brad represents all of those reasons all wrapped into one mess. I accused him of lying..and he said no I left out details? And suddenly everything is your fault and you r just LUCK to have his attention. Someone who has to constantly tell you how great they r isint. Its funny from day one I felt something was off and was cautious but he kept telling me how lucky I was to have landed Orlandos most eligable batchlor…Then it was one lie after another, Nasty controling text messages which have all been saved by the way, nasty comments about any male friends I have or talk to…and hounding me if I dont call the second he thinks I should. Thank you all i felt better after reading these. Sad thing is that I have friends that he did the same thing too. I wish Id talked to them sooner!!!!
