The 48 Hour Special on Caylee Anthony….Unbiased?

October 18, 2009

If you missed the 48 hours special (on purpose or not) and want to see it, the link to the show is below.

Caylee Anthony 48 hours special LINK

I argued with myself on whether or not to watch it, and in the end I did.  It was pretty much what I thought it would be, although Cindy and George didn’t throw their outlandish theory that Caylee is still alive out there.  (I thought they might) Instead they gave the camera a look inside the house that has been turned into a shrine for Caylee.  Strangely, Caylee’s death certificate was displayed for the cameras. Strange because of the revelations in the release of the Anthony’s state depositions, that all 3, George, Cindy, and Lee, say they believe the remains of the young child found in the woods near their home is not Caylee–though they can provide no logical or concrete reasons why they think that.

As expected, Cindy painted the family picture as rosy, saying, “Casey is my best friend”, and with a straight face stating there was no friction between her and Casey over Caylee.  She also continued to try and throw blame on Jesse Grund, saying he lied about a lot of things.

3 members of the Scheme Team, Baez, Baden, and Macaluso,  provided their versions of the State’s evidence.  In particular, their “It was a stranger abduction.”  They failed to give full disclosure about the prints that were found on the duct tape around Caylee’s skull, saying there were unknown prints present. (not true) And, they even brought into question whether or not the duct tape was there at all.  Other than that, we got more of the same from Baez–“The truth will come out at trial.” (Uh–not at trial, buddy, thanks to Judge Strickland, but in February– we’ll finally get to see exactly what you’ve got.  My guess?  Nuttin’ honey.)

In the motion Baez filed for a change of venue in the check fraud trial, he stated that Orlando was particularly susceptable to the national news on the Caylee case, so his motives for appearing on 48 hours is highly suspect to me.

Mr. Morgan, Zeneida Gonzales attorney was one of the few opposing views, and even provided a few laughs. “Cindy came into the courtroom like a doberman on a lunge line.”

All in all, this was, IMO, anything but an unbiased look at the case as 48 Hours promised,  and instead, a blatant attempt by the defense and the Anthonys to further muddy the jury pool–with the aid of CBS.

THESE people are demented, SINdy will be sitting with her murderer DAUGHTER sooner or later….The whole entire AssAnthony clan should be locked up…..HOW much more B.S. can they spew out of there venomous mouth of there’s.

I’m so glad I didn’t watch. Thanks for the report Mystery! These people never cease to amaze me. CBS should be ashamed, and I’m sorry if the A’s really wanted to protect their daughter, they should have played this whole thing differently. First they should have gotten rid of the attorney(for a good one), then they should have taken advantage of the window of opportunity to get their daughter help and deal for the truth, they chose the money and image, sorry, this was not about Casey, or Caylee. It’s about greed and how dare you disagree with me. JMO.

Ok, so lemme get this straight…. (I’m still reading thru the depos, didn’t watch the pity-party last night cuz I’m not THAT big a masochist 😉 )

    1. Caylee is still alive. Welcome to my lovely sitting room, where I’ve prominently displayed Caylee’s death certificate.
    2. I’ve setup a memorial foundation for someone who I don’t believe is actually dead, and am collecting donations to pay my mortgage and other living expenses, and OF COURSE the defense bill.
    3. I know that body in the woods I had cremated wasn’t her, cuz that body only had 18 teeth, and I counted Caylee’s teeth whenever I brushed them, and she had 20. (Yes, I’m serious, that’s in her depo).
    4. I will NEVER turn my back on my daughter. (That pretty much says it all right there, IMO)

What a bag o mixed nutz… Do they have ANY concept what they’re doing to their daughter?

Thanks for the report. I just knew this was what it would be. I am so glad I didn’t watch. With one of their producers being charged with blackmail I kind of thought we would see a lot of sympathy for the Anthonys.

mikka–Yes, there were several videos and quite a few photos I hadn’t seen before of Caylee–which tells me the Ants were getting paid quite handsomely. And of course they got a bit in about their so-called foundation.

I don’t know how the defense can continue to say the prosecution is the problem with the leaks and publicity ever again. Absolutely shameful the misleading crap they were spewing. UGH

TAS–It’s absolutely nuts! Even Lee said as much in his deposition. He was really angry when he found out they had searched the wood for Caylee’s body when they were stating they believed Caylee was still alive. I really hope the state’s move to get George’s grand jury testimony to compare his statements is the first step towards putting his grinch-faced butt behind bars.

niecey–You are absolutely right. The Anthonys missed (or avoided) the slim chance they had to get the truth from Casey. Cindy said last night that she just wants the answers no matter what they may be. But almost in the same breath, when asked if it could be possible that she and George were living in denial she stated flatly, “No. Never.” Sounds to me like she only wants the answer if it’s HER answer, and that she thinks that by the sheer force of her will (something that worked beautifully for her in her own family) she will convince everyone, including a jury, that her answer is the right one.

ostella–I don’t think they do have any concept of what they are doing to Caylee’s memory or Casey because it’s not about them anymore. (If it ever really was) It’s all about Cindy now and painting the picture she wants the world to see.

Either that or they’ve all completely gone over the cliff and can’t remember from one minute to the next what they’ve said. I nearly lost my dinner when Cindy said that Casey was her best friend and they never had any conflict over Caylee. Whaaa??????

I’m totally hung up on this aspect of things: if they setup the foundation in Caylees memory….and collected $$$$ in the form of donations, from unsuspecting people who wanted to contribute to this little girl’s “memory” ……… And they collect this $$$$$$ for almost a year….. And then they say they don’t actually believe this person is dead….but continue to collect $$$$….. Isn’t that illegal somehow? I can’t get past that. How can they continue lining their pockets thru the memorial foundation, if they’re arguing shes still alive? Isn’t there some kind of crime there? It seems like there should be…….

Seriously, they’ve collected tens of thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of $$$$ from people under the assumption that’s she’s dead. They held a memorial. They cremated a body. Now they say they’ve never been convinced it was actually Caylees body in those woods? But they’re just fine with having spent the better part of a year filling their treasure chests with donations in her memory? Isn’t that some form of FRAUD? Granted, I’m not a lawyer, but it seems like a pretty brazen scam, at least in my cynical opinion…

    ostella–

Caylee Marie Anthony Foundation mission statement:

The Caylee Marie Anthony Foundation will prevent child abduction through the creation of awareness of child safety measures and the missing child epidemic; will provide support to families and law enforcement during child recovery efforts; and will assist in the well-being of children in need of comfort and support during difficult and stressful times.

    Stated under “donations”

Caylee Marie Anthony Foundation is a 501(c)(3)non-profit, which has met all state and federal regulations. All donations are tax deductable.
All donations made to the Caylee Marie Anthony Foundation will be used in strict accordance to the guidelines that this organization has established. Caylee Marie Anthony Foundation will follow all state and federal regulations for non-profits.

Even though it was established in memory of Caylee, it’s purpose has nothing to do with her death. Nowhere does it say if we later decide she’s alive we will shut our doors. (Granted, I don’t see how they can “prevent “child abduction” by passing out teddy bears, but, I don’t see anywhere on their site that Caylee has to be dead for them to carry on.)

What they can’t do is make a profit from the foundation.

What distinguishes nonprofits is not whether they can make surplus income, but rather what is done with any “profit.” A for-profit company that generates net revenue can choose to distribute those profits to owners and shareholders, executives, and employees.

Nonprofit organizations don’t exist to earn money for owners, stakeholders or employees. In fact, distribution of profits is strictly prohibited, and must be used to further the mission of the organization. This distinction, not the ability to generate a profit, is a major difference between nonprofits and businesses.

As a result of its qualification as a 501(c)(3) organization, this type of nonprofit is able to receive tax-deductible charitable contributions, and is exempt from business income and property taxes.

I think the Anthony’s foundation is operated from their home. That would mean they don’t have to pay property taxes on the portion of their home being used as the foundation’s office, I think. They can also pay the “staff” a salary from their budget. Can they BE the staff? I assume so, and that means they can pay themselves whatever amount of money they’ve budgeted for staff salary.

Sucks but I think they aren’t doing anything illegal.

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

SOS from the Anthonys. Blah blah blah…..Casey was a saint. Casey, Casey, Casey. Those two are so hell bent on that theiving, lying, worthless daughter they adore so much , they have totally forgotten about Caylee, who had to have had a horrible death at the hands of the woman who gave birth to her. I don’t even want to refer to Casey Anthony as a Mother. She was unfit, and Cindy knew that. She is pure evil. Mother and daughter.

I’ve just started reading Cindy’s depositon. (I saved what I perceived to be the worst for last)and already–I’m only on page 85 and I’m already shaking my head in disbelief at this woman. Cindy lives in a world of her own creation. If Casey were to walk right up to her, look her in the eye, and and give her the “answers” she says she so desperately wants, if it wasn’t the “right” answer according to Cindy, she would still not accept it. If it’s proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that Casey is guilty, I still think Cindy would make excuses for her. Unbelievable.

48 hrs. showed KC is guilty. I am quite glad I watched it. Cindy will be very upset by the edited version that was shown. But the show is tainting the jury pool in Florida, and I don’t understand why the defense allowed it to be aired before the trial.

ok here it goes, now this is just what I observed watching the Video of last night 48 hr. show. It was kind of sad and irritating at times especially listening to the Defense. They stated the Duct Tape had 2 different DNA on it, one which could be accounted for and one which couldn’t therefore there is a Stranger involved. No DNA whatsoever from any of the Anthony’s. Where did they come up with the second DNA from a Stranger?
Myself I thought this Show would be a lot more bias but in my Opinion I felt it was pretty much accurate from what has happened so far.
Cindy made a couple of Statements which kind of surprised me, when asked what if there is a possibility in the End it will show that Casey had something to do with Caylee’s Cindy said, then I will have my Answer.
Also the Interviewer stated that Cindy’s Statement in the Beginning “the Car smells like there was a dam dead Body in there” will most likely be damaging to Casey’s Case, even though she changed her Mind later it being rotten Pizza.
Cindy acknowledged that her original Statement could hurt Casey.
I believe Cindy is a big time Enabler and will do anything to save her little Family.
I also believe she knows what will be ahead of her when it comes to Casey and I think she will finally accept it, should Casey get convicted but she will not and can not in her Mind give up on Casey at this Time.
I have no Doubt whatsoever that George and Cindy loved Caylee.
At the same time I believe they should have not made a Decision for Casey to keep the Baby and then later being disappointed when Casey didn’t want the Responsibility of being a Mother. They knew she was not ready to have the Child.
It is a very sad Story and so many Things went wrong on All Sides in this Family and poor little Caylee had to pay the Price for their Dysfunction.
Cindy tried to fix everything in this Family instead letting Everyone take Responsibility of their own Action.
Well at least that is how I see it.

Riddle the Second: which defense attorney has the entire series of Punky Brewster on DVD, hidden under the floorboards of their closet (along with a bandana they tie around the knee of their jeans when they watch it)?

Riddle the Third: which PI puts on his sunglasses, draws the blinds, and plays Hall and Oates’ “Private Eyes” full blast while singing along into an imaginary microphone?

I don’t know where they got the stranger print unless it was the partial print that couldn’t be identified because it didn’t meet the FBI indicators. I think it was determined that it was the FBI person’s print. The Scheme team was just trying to confuse the issue.

Correct me if I’m wrong, someone!

I have to disagree that the 48 hour special was fair to both the defense and the prosecution. From what I saw, there were only 2 people–Morgan and Jesse Grund that were giving the “other side of the story” Everyone else and most of the time spent on camera was taken up by the Scheme team and Cindy. There also didn’t appear to be any attempt whatever by 48 hours to verify anything that was being put out there as fact.

I didnt watch 48 hours either..Persoanlly it was nothing we hadn’t most likely heard sence this case began….We all know there has been lies and dishonest people in this case from the beginning and its not just Casey that has lied…It began with Casey, her family and her Defense….I do believe the truth will come out eventually, but I dont think we will ever know how Caylee was killed. What is damageing to this case is Casey not reporting Caylee missing and what she did during the time her child was missing(which she was never missing in the first place)Casey knew well what happened to Caylee. Also what was damaging was Cindy calling and saying that the car smelled like a damn body was in it…No Pizza smells like a dead body,I dont care how long it was laying in that trunk..You would think George would wonder what Casey was hidding when she wouldnt even let him go near the trunk of her car…Red Flag George ….To many things in this story that points to Casey being Caylee’s killer…I dont believe George or Cindy were in denial at all..They were protecting there daughter all along. They were all about pointing there finger at someone else..There was never a Nanny, never did she have a job, never anything she ever said was the truth…Cindy and George will always keep what they really think in side of them.but neither, will admit there was a chance they knew all along it was there daughter that did this. How can you have your daughter living with you sence the birth of your grandchild and not even meet the person who had your grandaughter all that time..They never met the nanny because there was never one..I will be glad when this trial starts and more glad when Casey is convicted and put away…

There was something else which caught my Eye, when George was reminded of the Smell in the Car, he did agree it was a awful Smell and he looked down, he knew from the Beginning what Smell it was just like Cindy did. Sometimes or maybe a lot of the time a Person gives away how they really feel by their Demeanor not with their actual Words. With Words You can not tell the Truth but Your Demeanor will give You away and we have seen that a lot in this Case especially with George and Cindy.

    dancehappy–

You said, “But the show is tainting the jury pool in Florida, and I don’t understand why the defense allowed it to be aired before the trial.”

I said, “The defense allowed it because they are the ones tainting the jury pool.”

I don’t think the defense should be appearing on national tv. They could have opted out just like the prosecution did–but they didn’t. Instead they sat in front of the camera and spewed some very interesting statements. One was that they are disputing that the tape was around the skull—Whaaa??? That’s in the discovery. When called on that statement, they wouldn’t elaborate. The same with the print on the tape.

So, what reason could the defense possibly have for appearing and making unsubstantiated statements on national television–other than to put doubt in the minds of the people watching the show? In their motion for change of venue they stated that the Orlando area was particularly susceptible to being influenced by the national media.

from the motion for change of venue: “5. The effects of the national media coverage of this case are especially strong in Orlando. National media is reported on and emphasized by the local media. Additionally, the people of Orlando have a more significant base of opinions and emotions into which the national media feeds.”

So what do they do? They hop on the Early Show and 48 Hours and I’m sure there will be more to come. (Not to mention holding court with the local media at every opportunity. So, yes, I believe they are the ones out there trying to taint the jury pool. That’s JMO.

what I think took a lot of Nerve when Baden mentioned the Duct tape and even laughed about it when she tried to discredit that Tape as important State Evidence, like she wanted to convince every one that Duct Tape is of no Importance whatsoever since it has been contaminated by the State, oh that was really hard for me to swallow. Also Baez saying again their Client is innocent! Yeah right! We believe that! The Prosecution declined to speak on this Program only saying they do have the right Person in Jail! That is All what matters to me. The Evidence will
speak loud and clear at the Trial in spite of what the Defense Team wants People
to believe. Why leave Casey A. in Jail for over a Year now if her Defense Team can prove she is innocent. Wouldn’t You want a speedy trial from the Beginning and show Proof of her Innocence, well I guess soon or later they will have to come up with that Proof, matter of fact they have till Feb. 1st. Also I liked it when the Question “how can it be determent Homicide if there is no Cause of Death established” was put to the Woman Prosecutor who is not on the Case but followed it from the Beginning, her Answer was , what was found surrounding the Area where Caylees Remains where found, the Way she was found, Duct taped around Mouth and Part of Scull. I don’t remember the exact wording of what she said, but when You listen to the Video, she made it pretty clear why
    it was determined Homicide.

Cindy was top notch in 48 Hours. How about when they asked about the argument and choking? Cindy said the ONLY time she’d ever raised her voice with Casey was that 911 day (?) The interviewer asked then why did Jesse say what he did about the fight? A big blue-eyed, “I don’t know…” Why then did Casey take off with Caylee? Another, “I don’t know…”

Hilde–It’s kind of funny, really (not Baden and the tape) but the defense dancing around like monkeys throwing out any and all the chit they can think of–and the Anthonys changing their stories more often than their underwear–all while the prosecution plods steadily along, only saying, “She’s guilty.” They have been very consistent and methodical. I believe the truth will prevail in the end thanks to the excellent and professional members of the prosecution team.

It is what it is Homicide and that is an established Fact, obviously Evidence supports that Fact. I know the Defense will dispute the Evidence, oh well that is their Job. Let them try and see where it will get them.

So what do they do? They hop on the Early Show and 48 Hours and I’m sure there will be more to come. (Not to mention holding court with the local media at every opportunity. So, yes, I believe they are the ones out there trying to taint the jury pool. That’s JMO.
    ======================
The Defense complains about the tainting of the jury pool, that KC can’t get a fair trial in Orlando, then goes ahead and does it themselves, on national TV/all of Florida no less. This is what I don’t understand. Can’t the judge who they are asking for a change in venue see what they are doing?

Hello Mystery and Everyone, i would not watch 48 hours but i ended up watching yours Mystery. Linda Baden and the duct tape, could she get any dumber? It doesn’t matter if there are a gazillion fingerprints on it, when a face is found with duct taped securely wrapped around it three times including the mouth, even a lamien person knows that is a homicide. Casey got just what she deserved with Baez ”Bozo” lawyer she ran home when she first got out of jail and baked brownies for and carried over to his office, (Gee to any possible juror’s that may read this, this is another clue of Casey’s guilt, baking brownies when a normal actual real Mother would be histerical and the minute she got home out of jail would be looking for her child if she was innocent of no wrong doing that is and would be too upset to even eat a brownie much less bake a pan of them for her dough head lawyer. Also, this has never left my memory, in the very beginning of Casey’s arrest when being questioned by Melich, and Allen when she had lied repeatedly and run them in circles, Melich asked her, How is lieing to us gonna help us find your daughter? Casey’s answer was,”IT’S NOT~~ Bingo~~ Defense team is as blatantly stupid as the scamthony’s are. If they had the brains God gave a goose they would keep off tv and keep their mouth’s shut. I know their hopes are tainting a jury pool and trying for total confusion to people who watch their tactics, but they forget, there are people like us bloggers here that have common sense and it does none of these things to us. It just shows us they are desperate and stupid~~

oh and cindy in my opinion will never accept her wonderful Casey killed Caylee. Not even if Caylee could materialize as a ghost right smack in cindy’s face long enough to say to cindy, ” MOMMY KILLED ME”. Jesse Grund hit the nail right on the head when saying, if he married Casey, that would mean casey and caylee would be moving out and cindy would not like that. that is why she didn’t and does not to this day like Jesse in my opinion. Cindy’s nose was everywhere it didn’t belong and if she had minded her own business casey might have married Jesse and caylee could still be alive today. I am wondering if Cindy didn’t put in to casey’s head that Jesse just loved Caylee more than her to break them up, as she knew how jealous a type Casey was and casey is all about attention on herself only, (henceforth, cindy knew how jealous casey got with her being the first one to hold Caylee when she was born).

Their mission statement doesn’t claim that they’ll really “do” much, they will “assist” & “support” that’s all, you can do that without leaving the house.

I certainly hope that one of the shows (NG, JVM, Mike G) or the news stations pick up on the fact that in their sworn depo’s they state they don’t believe the remains found are Caylee’s. I don’t remember reading that in Cindy’s depo, but is in both George & Lee’s.

knight Owl–You know, you are exactly right about Casey saying when asked if the lies would help find Caylee and she replied it wouldn’t. That may have been the only truthful thing she said that day. “No, the lies will not help you find my daughter, and that is exactly why I’m telling them.” Wow. An epiphany moment for me. I hadn’t looked at that statement quite that way.

I also think you just might have nailed it with Casey and Jesse. I could see Cindy putting that kernel of doubt in Casey’s mind. Cindy said it all when she said that Caylee wasn’t Casey’s child–she was OUR child. Not sure Casey really looked at it that way.

I also agree with you (wow, 3 for 3!) that George didn’t have any intention of actually killing himself. He didn’t have the guts it would take for such an act. I think it was to either garner sympathy from the press–or maybe from his wife. (though I’m not so sure she wasn’t in on it.)

Molly–I haven’t finished Cindy’s depo–I’m in the second half and hope to finish it today, but Lee stated that both his parents believed Caylee was alive (which was why he couldn’t understand how they could have had D. Casey search the woods. His reasoning was why would you look for her dead if you really believe she is alive? Why waste the resources?) I think the interviewer stated in George’s depo that Cindy thought Caylee was still alive and he agreed, but I’d have to go back and look.

And yes, I agree that the foundation is flying under the radar right now. I would like to see someone who has the resources to really follow that money trail and find out just how much money is really being drawn from the foundation to support how many people and for what.

My eyes popped out of their sockets when I heard Cindy say she was babysitting! Holly Gagne’s daughter, eh?

I imagine we will never know exactly what Casey was doing or what she was doing with Caylee all that time.

Something I found interesting was George saying Caylee wasn’t speaking that well and Cindy saying oh yeah–she spoke in sentences–paragraphs–she could tell stories. It also amazed me that neither she or George didn’t talk to her about Zanny. How could you not ask? How could you not have a phone #? (I think Cindy lied about having her #’s) How could you say Caylee was your child, too, and not find out for yourself that she was with a trustworthy and responsible person when you weren’t there? This family was unlike any other family I’ve ever known. They were so disconnected from each other and so apathetic to what every one was doing. If it didn’t interrupt their own lives, they didn’t care what was going on in one of the other family member’s lives. I couldn’t imagine living that way.

    Here”s what you asked–
    ostella

He responded this morning via email:

“Regardless of what they claim to believe – so long as they donate the money they collect to charity, they are not violating any laws.”

So–shock of shocks! I was right!

Spacely’s official review of 48 hours: YAWN

Maybe I fell asleep, but I missed the untold part of the untold story… must have gone right over my head.

I did notice that the defense is following the Jose motto of “I don’t have to declare a strategy and can use any one I want to when I get to court”, which seems to translate to “None of our statements require internal validity among my staff”. In other words, they can contradict each other all they want as they test their crazy concoctions for public approval. Examples as follows:

    1) There is nothing that ties this murder to KC – except for the whole paternity thing…

    2) There was no tape on the head or maybe even at the crime scene or it is unrelated – if there is nothing to tie back to the house, why do they need to attack the tape?

    3) The death was not a homicide – because little 2 year old girls often end up partially buried in a the woods in trash bags…

    4) A stranger murdered this child – yet it was not a homicide?

    5) There are unidentified prints on the tape and that is the murderer – yet the tape was not on the head or part of the crime scene?!?!

They did manage to convince me that none of them have the ability to win this case for KC. In fact, although the other two hinted or stated KC’s innocence, Jose did not and said they would be fighting vigoursly to the end… so he expects to go to trial and lose.

So if you run a charitable foundation, and as part of the by-laws or compensation agreements the organization pays for “lodging” or some such near legal term, and you have directors or whatever you call them sleeping in every room of the “HQ”, would that allow you to claim the entire building as an organizational expense?!? Obviously you need bathrooms and a breakroom (kitchen) for a group of any size. And you need cable TV and internet. And what if your organization provides “lunch” for all employees?!? And massages?!?

I think the amount you can write-off could be limited only by the creativity of your legal imagination…

  91. itsamysterytome permalink*
    October 19, 2009 9:33 am

Spacely–I couldn’t believe Cindy came up with the chlorophyll thing–and George said in his depo that the dogs never got sick. He also said Cindy didn’t know anything about computers, so it probably has never occurred to her that they could find out if she really did search for chlorophyll. Plus, I’m pretty sure it’s already been established that Cindy was at work when those searches for chloroform were done.

As far as what can be written off, I suppose whatever they budget for (within reason) can be written off. I know with me I have to put in the square footage of my workspace and then figure it as a % of my house. That’s a for-profit business. I don’t know how it works for non-profit. It sounds to me like as long as they don’t divy up any of the actual profits, the expenses, as long as they make sense, can be any whatever they deem necessary.

Looks to me like the one hair with the death ring is not getting thrown out. The state is going to show that it was never colored or processed in any way, so it cannot be KC or Cindy, so it must be Caylee. Since they did recover a dead Caylee, it will no longer be a question of junk science about a single hair strand that could be from 3 possible people and maybe just had the ring because of a fluke, it will be “we have a dead body and this part of it fell off in the trunk”.

I have to agree that the crazed atmosphere around this case has been, for the most part due to the bizarre behavior of Casey’s family. Yes, Casey did some outrageous things in the beginning, but the frenzy over what she did and said would have long ago faded into the recesses of news archives (at least until the trial began) if her family hadn’t jumped in front of the cameras and continued the insanity.

…but she says here that when KC told her and Lee about not seeing Caylee for 31 days, that KC was sitting on the floor shaking and crying. Cindy made the 3rd 911 call and they asked to speak to KC, so she put her in the phone.

I clearly remember that 3rd 911 call and hearing KC speak to the dispatcher. I find it highly doubtful from her phone demeanor, which could best be described as nonchalant, that she was shaking and crying just a few moments prior. To me, she sounded like she was not even sure why she was on the phone or why the dispatcher could possibly want to speak to her.

There was a distinct contrast between Cindy’s hysterical voice and Casey’s flat voice on the 911 call. But, I have no doubt that she was crying at some point. When it became clear to her that she wasn’t going to convince her mother or Lee to continue to play her waiting game, she cried. She didn’t cry about Caylee. She cried because she perceived herself to be in trouble.

    Bee’s

I ran across this article that explains why the defense in the Casey Anthony case is allowed to do what they are doing. The prosecution requested a gag order from the court back in November. Strickland ruled against it.

“Florida 9th Circuit Judge Stan Strickland said he did not think a gag order would stop the media whirlwind surrounding the case and he could not find the publicity would hurt Anthony’s right to a fair trial.

Prosecutors had asked for the gag order to silence Casey Anthony’s defense attorneys from talking to reporters, saying their statements could influence prospective jurors in the case. Anthony is charged with killing Caylee in a case that has become a nightly staple on cable news shows.

“While the court shares the state attorney’s concerns about the amount and nature of the publicity, the legal standard has not been met,” Strickland wrote in his ruling.

“The state attorney’s office argued that the defense team, as well as the Anthony family’s lust for the ‘limelight,’ may well sabotage the potential jury pool when this case is ultimately tried,” the judge continued.

“While this argument has some appeal, it does not rise to the level of being a serious and imminent threat to the administration of justice. Further, this court is confident that even with a ‘gag order’ the publicity and media attention would continue unabated.”

At a hearing Tuesday, prosecutor Jeff Ashton told Strickland that Anthony’s defense attorneys have revealed privileged attorney-client information on national television, as defense attorney Jose Baez accused prosecutors of leaking evidence to the media.

“I expect the two of you to be civil to one another,” Strickland told the lawyers as their arguments grew heated. “There’s a little girl missing.”

In his order, however, Strickland reminded the attorneys that Florida bar rules prohibit “extra-judicial comments” that are likely to prejudice the trial. He stressed that “patently false statements” made with the intent to pollute the jury pool will be referred to the Florida bar for disciplinary action.

I have not been on for awhile because of illness and etc. but I still follow the case, especially on Nancy Grace and here. Thanks for all the good information. I can not understand how George and Cindy can be in so much denial. Are they brain dead? I think we should all pray that they will dream of little Caylee every night and the truth will be revealed to them. We should pray that little Caylee will appear to them every night in their dreams and tell them the truth until they accept it or go mad. There must be justice for this little girl. I know if it does not happen in this life, it certainly will in the next one but I hope it happens in this life also. I think every good parent loves their child but that does not mean you should uphold them when they do something evil. If you do, you become evil also.

    hi Thecla–

It’s nice to hear from you. I’m sorry you’ve been ill.

You know, you would think George and Cindy, if in fact they were in shock and denial, would have, at this point in time, have had some sort of epiphany–an “ah ha” moment. Personally, I think that moment came a long time ago, and they are consciously doing whatever they are doing to try and create reasonable doubt so their daughter might be spared the death penalty at worst, or walk free at best. I don’t have a clue where justice for Caylee fits in with their plans or rationalizations.

I’m halfway through Cindys deposistions and I have to say. What a LIAR!! This woman has the ability to twist and fabricate every single answer she gives. It’s laughable. She must think we are as stupid as she was believing Caseys lies. I had to take a break from it. What a LIAR!!

    hey diana

I finished the last of Cindy yesterday. I thought some of the most interesting stuff was towards the end. Lotsa contradictions. Liar does come to mind—bad liar comes to mind, too. She can’t keep her stories straight.
