Casey Anthony court hearing, December 11, 2009

December 11, 2009

———————————————————————————————————

UPDATE:

Interesting.  Casey can’t seem to stop crying as they talk about her daughter’s death. No particular emotion shown before today by Miss Casey.  No emotion from day 1.  What happened to change her demeanor.  Real tears….or not so real?

Andrea Lyon, “The death penalty should be reserved for the worst of the worst.”

The prosecutor Jeff Ashton, “If we have gotten to this stage those same jurors have already decided that the face Caylee saw in those final moments of her life was her mother’s face.  Anyone who contends that no juror could find that these conclusions  called for a sentence of death is only fooling themselves.”

Tru TV said,  “Wow! Wow! Wow!  That was his closing argument. When he says ‘the last face she saw was her mother’s’….It was powerful. Take a plea!  TAKE A PLEA! You don’t want to try a case against an impassioned prosecutor like that!  He says that to a jury, it is over. OVER.”

———————————————————————————–

You can watch it here:

myfoxorlando.com

It’s also showing on Tru-Tv (formerly Court Tv) will carry the hearing live.

Casey Anthony’s defense will argue 6 motions during today’s hearing.  One of their goals is to get the death penalty off the table. According to Richard Hornsby, “If their goal is to get the death penalty, they need to come up with more evidence…It’s way to weak.”

The defense will also seek to have previous and future jail tapes made during visits with her family and attorneys destroyed.   The jail says that  can’t happen because it would be destruction of public records.

Casey’s so called tears.. from onions in a handerchief or pepper or a theater glycerin?

This is nauseating.. how can we waste tax payer time and money like this?

First she takes her child’s life, then she takes up space, takes time and takes money from tax payers. She steals and steals ansd steals.

    carol–

I have to agree with you. Those tears weren’t authentic–I take that back. They were authentic in that she was crying for herself and the future she may well be facing.

Tears were all a show. just a show for those potential jurors watching & the media. she was prolly thinking about herself & how much trouble she’s really in here while ashton was laying it out very bluntly.

    strickland will deny all motions.

What I noticed at todays Hearing, Casey started to wipe her Tears, if they were real Tears as it was mentioned that Witnesses the Defense talked too, All said Casey was a good Mother. Again it was all about Casey when she got emotional!
I don’t feel an ounce of Sympathy for that Woman IMO she is exactly were she belongs. She should consider herself lucky that she has a big Defense Team like she has, not every one is that fortunate especially since she didn’t hold a Job and had no Money of her own and sponged off of every one she could before all this happened.
Mike Brook said it, let the Jury decide this Case!
IMO there is enough Evidence to get a Conviction for Casey even if the DP should come off the Table, which might not happen. Life in Prison w/o Parole will be acceptable as long as there will be Justice for Caylee in the End! Let’s not forget she is the real Victim in this Case. I can’t hardly stand looking at Casey’s Face anymore knowing what has been done to her Daughter Caylee.
Jeff Ashton made a powerful Statement today and Casey Anthony did get emotional while he was talking. Again I have no Sympathy for her, I hope she will relieve what has been done to her Daughter for the Rest of her Life!
My Sympathy is for Caylee and always has been. She deserves Justice!

How awful it is that our perception of this woman is that while listening to the prosecution detail the death of her daughter, at her own hand, she crys, and the majority of us are wondering what Baez put into the hankerchief to make her cry. How empty she must be inside to have to have a reason other than the real reason in order to make tears. Maybe it is better that Caylee is home with our Lord, she had to be scared and confused while alive. She had no one that ‘felt’ her, no one to stand in front of the ‘monsters’ that children can see in the shadows. No one to count on. No wonder she would scream when she could not see Casey, the only thread that baby had was to be touching her mother physically.
I cannot believe that in the short time that Casey has been incarcerated, that she now feels differently, especially when she had so many chances while that beautiful child was alive to reassure her, help her to be confident and know that she was safe.
So the tears have got to go along with all of the other narcissitic notions that Casey displays, and she is finally cognizant of how the rest of the world sees her actions toward her daughter, realizing, just maybe that her decision wasn’t the smartest, and that she may have a problem fabricating a plausible way out.
It satisfies me in an odd way to know that if nothing else, somehow our justice system has made her uncomfortable. Its a far cry from the terror her daughter endured, but at least, finally it is something.

It’s all an act. Remember a few weeks ago it was put out there, “She’s scared. Wouldn’t you be scared?” defense attorney Andrea Lyon told WKMG-Channel 6’s Tony Pipitone. “She sad. She’s grief-stricken. And she’s terrified.” So now she has to act grief-stricken whenever we see her, as coached by Lyons.

    Inner Dialogue:

Why did they make me wear this same old ugly shirt again?!? Where is all my licensing money going?!? I’m starting to wonder if Andrea and Jose are spending all my cash eating crab puffs and yachting?!?

Geez, Mom and Dad really picked up a tan somewhere. Looks like they been on a cruise, but I know they don’t have the money for that…

Sniff, sniff. Of course I was a good mother… a great mother. I always made sure that no matter whose apartment I slept at that Caylee had a spot on the couch, was asleep by 2 am, and had at least a Twinkie for dinner. How could anyone be a better mother than that?

Look into her eyes while placing three pieces of tape on? Hah, dummies, they have no idea what they are talking about. I put all three on at once. I didn’t have all day. My time is valuable.

I looked over the movie deal Jose gave me a few days ago, but I still think we should do it as a vampire movie. I would look great in fangs and vamps are HOT right now. It could be a Twilight sequel… or maybe a prequel… that is all the rage today.

    Hi Hilde

I think it was all about Casey, too. If she has any remorse for what she did, it is because she had not realized what she would be facing today because of what she did. Turning on the waterworks and Andrea Lyon hugging her with horror at what she was having to endure only had me shaking my head. I’m not buying it. I suspect Casey’s acting skills will have no effect on a jury either.

Very well put. It is sad that while someone describes the murder of your own child and you react in the normal way–with tears— that no one believes those tears or feels empathy towards you. I think you are correct. What was going through her mind was that she was trapped with no way out of this one.

Great job by ashton/prosecution today! It was a “HUGE” slap in the face for casey & defense. It hit home for them, not gonna be as easy as they thought. Baez can throw out all of his bizare “maybe’s”, but they have no substance. The facts (truth) speaks louder than all of that & is heard by all.

  28. December 11, 2009 7:37 pm

I think the tears were real because it is finally sinking in to this monster/mother of the year that there is real proof that she murdered her baby. Cindy looked like she is finally coming to terms with the TRUTH too. No more smiles, coy little glances at Baez. Today she is feeling the prosecutions case and it just kills her.

Hey Mystery! I think she has finally met Mr. Truth and Lady Justice and she’s not liking them. The girl has spent her whole life lying and she’s never had to face Mr. Truth before. It’s quite hard when one’s not used to it, and especially when Mr. Ashton made a very good case for why the State was justified in asking for the DP. He trumped the Lyon big time. Thus, she knew her goose was cooked and she had to hear the TRUTH. She knows now there is a very good chance she will see the DP. Her parents and all the world got to hear what she did, the TRUTH.

    Hey Mand! (Waiving)

Hey niecey–I thought it was interesting too that George and Cindy left and then promptly booked themselves on the Today Show….

I think Casey flat didn’t want to here the truth–She had neatly compartmentalized what she did and now Jeff Ashton was forcing her to unlock that box.

That was just a taste of what will be in store for her at trial.

I really feel that Casey was getting ready to throw a little temper tantrum in court .. Remember the one she threw in jail with her parents, raising her fist, cussing and yelling … when I watched it , right after the prosecutor had started his fantastic presentation , I saw her with that same mad look starting to appear on her face , then Lyons sort of holds her arm down … It was the way she held it at first, not in a sympathtic way but more as a firm way to tell her to keep her temper under control …. then later, after this, is when she starts with the crocodile tears.. If they were real tears, they were tears for herself and not for her baby .
Did anyone else hear the voices in the background when the prosecutor first started ? I heard them but couldnt make them out at first . figure it was Casey & her attorneys as they had microphones.. I first thought of Cindy but she would not have been heard without a mic.. Others have said it is Casey saying ” Make him stop” and then one of her lawyers says ” I can’t “.
Couldn’t help but notice Cindy & George bolting out the door as the prosecution was winding up … They bolted out of the courtroom once before when they heard something they did not like. and tried to leave Morgan’s office during deposition and under oath when Morgan wanted answers.
Sounds very childish to me. More drama with the Anthonys. I believe the entire Anthony family has temper issues and that is probably why Caylee is not with us today. If the Anthonys can not stand to hear the truth & have to leave the courtroom then when the trial starts they need to stay at home or else learn to control their little temper tantrums… Like daughter, like parents.
Cheers also to the prosecutor for reminding the court about Lyons true feelings about jury members ! She tried to do damage control on it, but imo failed… She does not impress me in court at all.. She talks in circles, is hard to understand and goes on and on about the same things without really making a point. Alot of uhs, in her speech also.

Yes, I saw that, too. Was that anger because Ashton was so close to the truth? Or was it all staged? Why was the microphone on? Lyon dramatics?

Hiya my l♥velies…excellent observations by all. Can we discuss 2 points please…

    1. If I had been crying the tissues would have been totally saturated to the point of disintigrating…then I would require more tissues. Instead KC blotted…inspected…preened her hair then repeated the process ad infinitum. I did not see any traces of black eye make up on the tissues…did anyone else?
I was crying during Jeff’s rebuttal to Lyon. It was short, succinct and extremely warranted. The difference was that my tears were genuinely for Caylee – hence the pile of sodden tissues on my desk. KC on the other hand was crying for herself NOT Caylee 😥

    2. C & G stormed out of the courtroom whilst Jeff Ashton was speaking. This disgusted me! Their lack of support for Caylee has been obvious BUT now they have shown KC that when the going gets tough they can’t take it. I say again…I was disgusted and angry 👿

    Hugs ♥♥♥

Hey Jill! It took her a while to squeeze out the tears, but once they started these were real, IMO. Her face was purple and she was crying–like you, I believe she was crying for herself.

Jeff Ashton was only giving the defense what they wanted–how they thought Caylee died.

  35. dancehappy permalink
    December 12, 2009 1:07 pm

How telling, every time KC wipes her eyes with her fingers she then looks at her fingers, and when she wipes her eyes with the tissue she then looks at the tissue. For what? Trying to see if there are any tears? She does this each and every time.

I’ve wondered about that too, and I find it extrememly annoying. Cindy does it as well.

Great post as usual…I think everyone saw the temper before the tears started rolling. Im sure she is sad, she is in jail…she is facing YEARS in prison at the very least. The worst feeling for me would be that instead of a plea early on…telling the truth and probably getting 25 yrs with less than 20 served…she will possibly get death. Gambling is not her strong suit..obviously.

I wonder if she wishes she had taken the plea early on? I doubt she thought she would be, some 14 odd months later, still sitting in jail? Bad move, Casey!

    Hi All,
Anotther good thing that came out of this hearing is the fact that Andrea Lyons is quickly discovering that she is NOT dealing with a
bunch of inferior attys. All of her bragging about her High IQ, and being a pioneer etc…has done nothing but make her look like a very law level atty. Nothing “special.” Even when they bring on the so-called Dream Team, nothing will change the FACTS.

Cindy must be feeling alot of guilt at this time. From everything that
I have read, she was a horrible mother. I think that choking Casey was the “straw that broke the camel’s back.” Cindy knows this, and that is why she is trying so hard to save Casey. I detest her, and feel that lying is just a way of life with her. All the “blood money” in the world will never bring her happiness. Her guilt will consume her for the rest of her days.

Dontcha just love that? I hate arrogance! She has more than met her match with this prosecution team.

  38. December 13, 2009 10:10 am

Hi ya Mystery! Great article! I think the fact that Casey “NOW” knows that the state knows what happened to Caylee, that the DP won’t come off the table. She is very intimidated by Ashton, even though she wrote on one of the motions that Ashton is trying to intimidate her! Oh, he sure does intimidate her! I think the anger was shock, as they know what happened, and the crying was because she will be getting that needle. jmho of course……..

Hi Humble! You are dead on right, IMO!

Andrea Lyon stated correctly when she said this:

” THE DEATH PENALTY SHOULD BE RESERVED FOR THE WORST OF THE WORST ”

IMO Any mother who kills her child IS THE WORST OF THE WORST.

Casey Anthony certainly fits into that category.

Yes, she was, Sanny! She described her client when she said that.

IMO Baez leaned over to Casey and whispered…..”the camera are rolling now…..it’s your Cue
to turn on the water works. ”
Casey begins to shed tears while Ashton is telling how Caylee died. Casey reliving it completely and boo hoo…..no tears for Caylee….those were for HERSELF…..knowing that the jig is up…….and there’ll be NO MORE DANCING ON FUSIONS POLE IN HER FUTURE.

As for G & C storming out of the courtroom while Ashton gave his INCREDIBLE argument FOR THE DEATH PENALTY…….describing HOW Caylee died…….just wait until the trial is
in full bloom…….and the autopsy photos are presented.
The Anthony both wanted to leave their depos when the questions got too tough for them and George objected to Melnick referring to Caylee as ‘remains.’
If they thought Melnick was tough…..just wait……they ain’t seen nothin yet.

The Anthonys can think they are superior and don’t have to follow the rules all they want, but they WILL have to deal with the truth in court. Cindy says she wants the truth–she got a taste of it from Jeff Ashton in court.

REALITY WILL SET IN……it’s beginning to already.

I found it very convient that Casey or no one reached over to push the button on the mic like they have done in every other hearing. Seems to me that Lyon’s has given Casey some acting lessons, and they wanted everyone to hear her say *Make him stop* She really hasnt cared to much before what they were saying, why now?? IMO Lyons has come on the scene with all her theatrics.

And a hello to all and happy holiday’s

Hi Susie! Happy holidays to you, too! Yep, no way did they not know the microphone was on. Lyon is in the wrong field–I hear Off-Broadway calling her name.

  42. December 13, 2009 10:52 pm

Hi ya Sanny, I agree! Casey is the worst of the worst! And I am all for anyone killing a child to get an automatic death sentence, if found guilty!

  43. December 13, 2009 10:54 pm

LVSusie, I wonder if they are thinking that this will work for them, or against them. I think they are barking up the wrong tree.

I agree–the theatrics is a mistake–Lyon is a mistake–although Baez’ ever diminishing role is not. It would be a very smart move on her part to “phase him out” She oughta phase herself out as well.

One thing I don’t agree with is the fact that if a person receives the DP, it takes forever for it to actually take place. Just look at Scott Peterson, and dozens of others who have spent years and years on death row. I think a year is more than enough time to wait. JMO

I know alot of people are against the death penalty, so I was surprised that every poll I have looked at, the majority thinks Casey should get the death ppenalty. If anyone deserves it she does.

Great post. What I wonder, does a controlling mom, a lazy dad…despite the fact that they support you, they provide for your daughter, they give you a car to drive, they feed you, provide you with computers to use, free babysitting…etc etc still equal mitigating circumstances? So your mom is a biotch…big deal. If that were mitigating for murder they would have to let the prisoners out of jail and tuck the Ozzie and Harriet Nelson offspring in to protect them from everyone else. Mitigating circumstances per Lyons is crack Ho mom, drukard drug abusing wife beating dad, illegal drug, prostitution, etc in the home. What made Casey life so ” horrible” that it would result in her killing her daughter??? Sorry Im not buying it.

Hey everyone! Sorry, I’m so behind in responding to comments. Christmas is in full swing, and “The Baking” has begun–plus the shopping. I tired!! I’m trying to catch up by responding within the comment boxes above.

Hi azrenee–Casey had a controlling mother, but there are millions of people that have controlling mothers. That controlling mother of hers supported her butt and took care of her daughter most of the time. Casey’s life was pretty cushy if you ask me, and Casey never appeared to seriously try and leave that cushy existence. I think she thought, in her warped mind, if she could remove Caylee from the equation, it would get her mother off her back and she would be able to party freely.

    Hi All!

PHONY PHONY PHONY! Just like the rest of Casey’s life has been. Dr. Lillian Glass did an article on this after reviewing the tapes many times. She surmised what we all have. (Kudos to us…lol) In her observation she states the obvious of course, that Casey was showing rage in the first moments of Ashton speaking. It was then that Baez whispered in her ear, Lyon grabbed her arm and the sobbing began. She stated that while observing the body language, Casey’s heaving shoulders were done rhythmatically. What she also observed was NO TEARS! The crying and sobbing went on from 1:15 to 2:50 and yet the tissue should have been in shreds by then I’d say.

This was yet another poor tactic by the defense to make her look as though she is a victim. Oh wait she is isn’t she?

Interesting, halfpint–Guess then that the very red face was from anger not overcome with horror and grief. Amazing.

I was on the Blimk, they are discussing the chance that Geo may have been the culprit who put the chloroform in the trunk to kill bugs? This makes sense why KC was so pissed in court because she wanted to yell that she did not overdose her baby with chemicals, rather she suffocated her is all!

She will be convicted and $indy and Geo will live their lives off the baby after all they feel they are entitled to the money since KC owes them anyway. The whole country knows these people and many have watched them, I am sure it will be hard for any employer in this country to employ them, especially when they see how far these two will go to never tell the truth, to fill out an application you have to be honest, the world knows they aren’t.

lil lorna–I read Blink’s theory, but I’m not convinced yet. I think if the chloroform was George’s, Casey would have said so. She wouldn’t cover for anyone but herself ever. JMO
