George Anthony–“Living Under a Microscope”

January 7, 2010

George Anthony has written an essay titled “Living Under a Microscope.” and he gave a personal reading of it, on camera of course,  to WOFL’s Holly Bristow.

You can watch it here:

The high points:

He pierced his ears for Casey. She told him several years ago that he had big earlobes and they’d be perfect for piercing, so he did that for her.

The tattoo was for Caylee.  Now she is with him–on his skin and in his heart forever. It was very hurtful to him that people made fun of an etching of his loved one.

He ended his essay with this.

“Under a microscope,  I personally look at life differently. Finding ways to help others, be it through some life- changing advice or being there to help when they fall. That is the right thing to do. God-like gestures that’s what is needed being under a microscope.”

I have one question. Why did George, if he feels living under a microscope is such a living hell, put himself in front of a camera to read about how awful it is to live under a microscope? It’s kind of like Baez or Lyon going on national television to complain that there is too much national media coverage.

Hi Mystery, so good to see ya. Hope your new year is a good one. If i ever needed a laugh this would do it. George’s bird’s eye view of living under a microscope that he put himself under. Now that is Priceless. Perhaps he will devote an entire book on this subject.

I also have to say it is interesting that George criticizes the media yet wants the media to allow him to read his ”Living under the microscope”. He goes further to scold the media and then says wouldn’t it be nice to see something positive and heartwarming instead for a change. The answer to that is Yes, George it certainly would but as long as we have these so called Non Mother’s purposely killing their children like your Casey did, then the media will have nothing positive to report to us the public and we the public will have to continue to endure the horridness of hearing about these murders by Monster’s that call themselves Mommies.

  3. January 8, 2010 12:22 am

And George i wouldn’t be so proud to be reporting you got your stud earrings for your daughter Casey. You know in your heart what you mind doesn’t want to reveal, and that is the daughter that viciously purposely took your beautiful grandchild away from you and caused all the heartache, and all of this nitemare for you and your family with no regard to your feelings because it was what Casey wanted. Go back George and really take a good long look at Casey’s smirk on her face in her early jailhouse arrest. The one where she is wearing the blue hoodie she bought via stolen money from her friend Amy, a single cop is escorting her by the arm to take her out of the building, casey’s facial expression looks like the Cat that just caught the Canery and is loving it. For that you get your ears pierced. Caylee was the only one that truly with all purity loved you and your family.

    Hi Mystery…Happy New Year
I didn’t listen to the whole video…I don’t think I made it but about 10 mins in, lol. When he states the right thing to do…IMO, the right thing to do is be honest about what happened to Caylee and all they have done to hurt others…and apologize for it. It doesn’t mean they can’t love their daughter, but again the right thing to do would be to hold her accountable for her actions. The right thing to do would be not to lie to the public and LE/The State. When you come out and preach about helping others…giving advise, “it is the right thing to do.” Aren’t you supposed to start at home with this. How about starting with the choas they all created with the media…they blame the media for so much, but they forget they LOVED (mostly CIndy) being in front of that camera…Cindy couldn’t get enough. I could make a long list of the right thing to do for George…And it all starts with doing the right thing for his granddaughter Caylee. She is the only victim in this. Yes in the beginning they were also victims in my eyes and most people out there. They removed themselves from victim category when they started the damage control, covering up and lying they did to LE and the public. They in my eyes have done nothing but victimized the only victim even more. Someone had gotten really rude to me one time because I mentioned George’s lies (Caylee would be home by her bd, we are watching them and so on). He said so what that was in the beginning and he thought Caylee was still alive. I personally don’t believe George thought that…I believe if he really thought that, LE would have been called ASAP when the found the car and he smelled death. Anyhow, if he really believed that…tell me what little or big lie to the public and/or LE helps them find Caylee?? All they have done since than is make bigger lies and throw innocent people under the bus….Tell me George is that “the right thing to do?” Maybe you should concentrate on doing the right thing for Caylee George!
Sorry Mystery…that statement really bothers me, GRRRRR.

Anyone seeing this without ALL the prior knowledge of how George perpetuated the cover up of what KC did would probably have great sympathy for him….sadly I view this for how Lyon will use it during the penalty phase of the murder trial.

His explanation of why the cruise photos were seen by the media was disingenuous to say the least. How about keeping your shirt on instead of both you and Cindy flaunting your tats and earrings…naw… I’m not buying it…it was part of your money making scam.

Knight owl and Stephanie explained my sentiments exactly…though I suspect many will call us unsympathetic, I prefer to think of these views as realistic…because we know that if George had called LE when he smelt the Pontiac trunk KC would have been convicted in 2008. I can’t forgive either George or Cindy for their blatant interfering with the investigation.

A truely grieving grandparent would have waited until after all trial were over before going on National TV… 😳 I forgot…that wouldn’t have made any $$$’s.

Thanks for posting this Mystery…it will be interesting to hear other peoples views.

    Hugs ♥♥♥

I come on everyday to read, and I don’t know how it happened, but I missed George getting the tattoo. What is it of? Caylee’s name?
I didn’t watch the above interview, but with the Anthonys- you seen one interview- you’ve seen them all- mostly blah blah blah.
George is just doing this media thing to get sympathy for Casey because of her check fraud trial coming up. It doesn’t work George- no one will give Casey sympathy- not even when she was doing her fake crying- all we have to think of is duct tape and any sympathy we may have had goes out the window, because we know what poor Caylee endured at the hands of her mother.
I honestly do not know why the whole world wants justice for Caylee and they don’t. They want Casey to walk for what she did. I don’t get it. Yes that’s their daughter, but she had a choice and Caylee didn’t. Casey did what she did to spite her parents, yet they stand up for her. I don’t get it.
George says until you walk in our shoes… I wouldn’t want to, but if my child killed my grand child I know I would not be acting like the Anthonys have acted… at all.
I do have sympathy for George and Cindy and Lee at times. It must be so hard not having Caylee around- Christmas must have been horrible- I cannot imagine it, but I have absolutely NO sympathy for Casey and no matter what I never will.
    Justice for Caylee is coming!!

    Hi Rebecca–
Sorry it took so long to respond–one of those lonnngggg weekends! lol.

Cindy (and later, George), seems to believe that the only way they can be loyal to their daughter is by perpetuating her lies. They couldn’t be more wrong IMO. They can be loyal and express their love for their daughter by acknowledging that they know what she did and by helping to prepare her to realize she will have to pay for what she has done–maybe with her life. Unfortunately, they don’t appear to be able to do that now anymore than they could help her to take responsibility for her actions when she was younger. What they are doing now is not only a disservice to Casey–it’s a massive show of disrespect for their granddaughter.

George and Cindy got their tattoos while they were on a cruise last year. George’s is a big tattoo on his chest of a favorite photo of Caylee–Cindy’s is on her stomach and is Caylee’s name entwined with butterflies. You can see it and read about it at the link below:

That was painful to watch. George Anthony seems about ready to go off the deep end. His emotions are all over the place.
I hope he gets help from a professional soon.

I’m not buying what he says about 9 out of 10 people greeting him with well wishes. I think he has that number all wrong. If what he says is true, then why the need to whine about people saying mean things to his family?

He needs a reality check. I think his denial is causing him more mental anguish than he can deal with.

    Hi Diana–
I’m sorry I was so slow in responding!

I had trouble watching George’s interview, too, but not because I found it painful. I found it to be just another load of carp. There was no purpose to it that I could see other than to draw the focus back on himself. Why, when you have been left pretty much alone for a while now, would you write a paper vilifying the public attention and then sit in front of the cameras to bring the attention back to yourself????? You are right–he really needs some help.

    Hi knight owl-

Good to see you. That was very well put and I agree with everything you said. The Anthonys, like the defense team, appear in the media every bloody chance they get and then complain that the media is destroying their lives and being unfair to their daughter. It’s ridiculous and was pointless.

Things have been quiet for George and Cindy in the news of late, so what does George do? He writes an essay(an ESSAY????) and finds someone that will let him read it on air. Then he proceeds to talk about the tattoo and diamond studs and stirred that pot back up. He knew full well this would put him in the local news and on the blogs again. Why? Could it be because the fraud trial is coming up? Or is something else going down?

9 out of ten happy greeters? Maybe most unhappy people don’t want to greet him.

With George, I saw false humility, a false sense of accountability, a false sense of his relationship with Casey, a determined, false understanding of Caylee’s last moments, a tirade charade for why media and others would be irate with them, and a false idea of justice.

Where’s the truth? Where’s the standing up for what is right and honorable? Where’s the self-respect and the respect for the compassion of others involved?

Sorry, without standing up for the truth, all the wrist-band kissing, tattos, essays, letters, poetry, and pierced ears appear really shallow.

Very well put, Ideas! You are so right. Without the truth, nothing George or Cindy can do or say will change anything–including what the public thinks about them.

If George really wanted positive, heart-warming stuff on the news, he could try actually do something that was positive and heart-warming. After all, the media will apparently give him any amount of press time he wants. Almost like he is the president.

Ok, I admit, when he did something positive when he went on the cruise. As soon as I saw their pictures, I was POSITIVE they were making their bucks off of Caylee’s death.

And, ok, I admit, he did make my temperature rise when he revealed his Bat-Boat, but I don’t think that qualifies as heart-warming.

Soon Cindy will read her essay (“I wrote an essay too, not a lot of people know that, but I wrote one too, yes I did, it wasn’t just George, I wrote stuff during that period too.”) entitled A Perfect 10 Magnified to 100.

LOL (and really very good points!)

That was also very well said. It’s very difficult to take someone talking about “the right thing to do” seriously when they have done anything but the right thing. You want to be an example of moral righteousness, George? Then practice it before you preach it.

I don’t care much for George, or Cindy. They are arrogant and mean-spirited people, however, I have to admit that I agree with one thing George said and that is regarding the loyalty of Cindy’s brother. Why did he feel the need to publicly slam his sister and probably hurt his own mother in the process? I could never understand this.

That’s an interesting question, Paula. I wondered what Rick’s motives really were when he said the things he did on the blogs and released emails to the public–15 minutes of fame comes to mind…

The Anthonys have been silent since the DP motion was denied. Not a peep came from their
camp. Nada, zero, nothing at all. I knew it was just a matter of time when one of them came forward with something and George was the chosen one. I watched the video and again I saw the mouth pull back tightly as he’s done in every interview he’s given. Once that mouth becomes a straight line…..I say, here we go again. Lies are coming forward here.
The Anthonys have stated in the past that they are being villified for whatever they say or do and they blame the media for all their so called anguish. So what does George do…..he composes an “ESSAY”, (like we did in grade school), contacts the very media he abhors and
blames for putting him under the very “Microscope” and now he comes before the cameras to
moan about his living hell under that very same microscrope. Did I miss something here?
No I don’t think I have missed anything. George didn’t come with essay in hand for nothing.
It’s part of some plan that either Baez, Lyon or Conway conjured up… may be because the check fraud trial is drawing closer and closer……it’s something we will all see later on and say, AaHa… I understand.
When George pulled his faux suicide act, IMO under Cindy’s direction, George was supposed to get therapy then…..10 to 1, it wasn’t needed at all. The memorial occurred about 2 weeks later and I expected George to be brought in either on a stretcher or in a wheelchair looking
extremely bad. Instead, he looked fantastic for one who alledgedly tried suicide.
Not to be outdone by George, Cindy then stated that she too tried to commit suicide…..oh lord, what a crock. What is the matter with this family? Why didn’t they take Casey by the scruff of her neck and wring it when they knew she was a liar most of her life, stealing money from them and finally coming to the worse of the worse………killing her own baby in defiance of Cindy. They never reported the decomp smell in the car ( and he being x law enforcement)
because they knew Casey did the ultimate act of killing Caylee because in her own words, ” I’m a spiteful bitch”. Caylee’s memory for George, Cindy and Lee is MORE BLOOD MONEY in their bank account. They have used and abused that child not only in life but it continues in death too. So now, how long will we have to wait to see Cindy contact someone in the media
so that she too can read her ‘ESSAY” about how the media has them under a Microscope and
disecting them. Just wait , people, the next installment of the ‘ Saga of the Anthonys’ should be coming our way soon. Stay tuned.

I think you are absolutely right, Sanny. You nailed their M.O. and I have no doubt in mind there is more coming. Might that be the fraud trial? Or is it something else…

Well thank you George for letting us know how you’re feeling AND why does he think we needed to hear it? I’m thrilled he got his ears pierced for Casey, and the tat – just lovely! Bringing up how he asked us all to write a letter to Casey in prison FOR HIM,! What gets me is this man says that everyone as torn his family apart, every single one of us, look at what we’ve put the Anthony’s through-PLEASE who are the ones who constantly want to be on TV raging support for there daughter Casey? The reason the American public feel the way the do about the Anthony’s is they lie, lie, lie, lie! They have put themselves in this position, they go on interview and lie, talk all about Casey and sadly very little about Caylee! Read George’s summer 2008 interview where he says Casey started stealing $ right after high school, how she stole $ from Cindy’s bank account and out of her purse, how she stole Caylee’s $ George put in an account for her, even Caylee’s piggy bank! He states he had for 2 years thought that Casey had not been working. In that interview he states that when he found out Casey was pregnant that day he asked all the questions a parent should ask when you have a unwed pregnant teenager, like who is the father etc. NOW read his 2009 interview where he says he “was over the moon with tears of joy and on cloud 9” of Casey’s pregnancy and said he didn’t ask about the father so he wouldn’t upset his pregnant daughter. He then says he thinks Casey did have a job she went to. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? These Anthony’s are laws unto themselves no wonder they raised a sociopath daughter; the apple surely didn’t fall far from the tree.
So here we have George telling lie after lie in his 2008 to 2009 interviews, well that’s nothing yet, watch his Zaneida G deposition. Through his pomp ace, rude, combative behavior he lies through out the entire deposition, its shocks the mind how this man wouldn’t think that his lies wouldn’t catch up to him.
George’s video was meant for public sympathy just like his “suicide” attempt.

I agree with you, Patti. The Anthony’s have been more vocal and attention seeking than any other family of a victim and that victim’s suspected killer I have ever heard about. The good news is that they have been more vocal than any other family of a victim and that victim’s suspected killer than I have ever heard about. It’s all on record–the lies and contradictions–hours and hours of Cindy and George on tape. I don’t know if charges will ever be brought against them, but they certainly could be.

Someone should tell George, that this is not about him. It is not about Cindy, or Lee. These ‘people’ that he says are being so judgemental and so mean are struggling and fighting for justice for Caylee, trying to make sense of a crime to a truley innocent, pure, trusting baby girl. Yes, George, its us doing your job, standing in the place you should be, letting the murderer of your grandaughter know that her life was precious, and valuable, and she was a gift, and that no-one has the right to snuff out her life. And we are going to continue to fight for her, no matter who it was that thought they could do this, we are going to fight and find and punish the responsible party. See, what should be happenin’ is the Today Show get a couple panels going. One panel would be the Anthonys, and the other would be a collection of (civil) bloggers. The news guy could be the moderator.

Sure, the Anthonys would look mighty fine next to a bunch of people in their bathrobes, coffee mugs, hair in towel, or folding laundry (or whatever bloggers do on the side) but if this ‘reality TV’ were set up, the questions would be different than what we see/hear on the show. The follow up questions would be different. The ratings would be outstanding.

Guaranteed that the questions would not be coated in sugar like they have been in the interviews the Anthony’s have given thus far.

  21. January 8, 2010 1:59 pm

We all know that a microscope is used to see what otherwise can’t be seen. You have to physically take something and place it under the lens or you will not see it at all. George and the Anthony’s in general have placed themselves under the lens, we did not do it, the media did not do it as it was their choice.

From the very beginning with the protesters when they could have just stayed inside their house they chose to fight back and slip into focus. Every step of the way, day by day more of them became visible under the lens. People tried to tell them but it fell on deaf ears. They still do it today and if they don’t like it, well, it’s their own fault.

In reality, I bet they know it makes them money and it is the microscope of their lives that is worth millions to them. George, complain all you want but we know it is all about money and survival now, the good life at the cost of a granddaughter. You, Cindy and Casey one in the same.

I agree, John. It is very difficult to conjure up any kind of sympathy for people that encouraged the atmosphere they are complaining about. We wouldn’t be talking about this at all right now if George had not written “Living Under A Microscope.” We wouldn’t be talking about him at all!

And he’s telling us this, why? I couldn’t figure out why he’s suddenly on tv with this essay, but as stated above, the check trial is coming up. ItsaMysteryToMe, I agree with all the peeps, many thoughts shared, all true. The thing that inflames me about this family is since the 911 call, the Anthony’s have INTERJECTED themselves into the middle of this case, imo, lying, obstruction, addicted to the media/drama, feeling entitled, & feel the Judicial Laws “don’t apply to them!” WRONG!

In his performance, GA mentioned Lee. “Tubesocks” has kept a LOW profile, ducks the media at every opportunity, if confronted by the media, turns his back & doesn’t respond, the only thing I have against “tubesocks” is the MEMORIAL when he continued to say, “CMA!” His giggling during depositions was more than inappropriate, & I think he would LIE like everyone else to save KC. imo, Tubesocks has kept a job, low profile as well as Mallory, she so quietly snuck in for her deposition that the MEDIA didn’t get to yell at her. CA?GA could learn from Lee.

I predicted the ANT’s wouldn’t be back until the SPRING to do another MEDIA Blitz & promote whatever propaganda Baez wants them too or they ran out of money. Guess George just couldn’t wait for instruction. I can’t wait for these people to go away.

I agree with you about Lee. For the most part he and Mallory have kept a low profile and by doing so they are not “living under the microscope” (that would be a microscope G & C purchased, IMO) that George and Cindy are.

Oh, and one more thing, when are we gonna hear someone whine about Caylee? Are these people ever gonna stop talking about themselves, and start talking about Caylee? Let me help George out here, he could have began his little pity trip by stating this…Poor Caylee. We have been unable to find her killer. Losing a grandchild is the worst thing that could happen to anyone. We do not have justice for her…but no…whine, whine, whine about yourself George! Good work! I always love it when George or Cindy come on camera to speak, because every time they do, they just make matters worse. What a great show of selfish vanity, George! And I noticed the first thing he said was “I just want you people to know who “I AM”….I, me, me, I, me, me…just like that daughter of his.

Mother C.–the Anthonys might have been living in a different reality today if they had, from Day One to Day Now, made it about Caylee. If they had, it’s very possible that there would be no upcoming trial, Caylee would have been found long before she was, and Casey would be spending a very long time in prison (but NOT facing the death penalty) Tragically, Caylee would still be a murdered child, but the Anthonys would not be “living under a microscope.”

Great Post, I agree with many this is all nonsense. I personally believe the foundation has dried up and George is trying to solicit funds and more reputable families (which he mentions) that he would like to be able to add to his resume. Forget it…no reputable families can understand them, their attitude, their denial, and their total lack of interest in the REAL victim, Caylee. Pack up your tent George, no one is buying what you are selling. The Anthonys are the last people on the planet to advise anyone on how to deal with a missing/murdered child. Suicide attempts, over medicating and denial and anger…nope nothing cathartic about all of that…its all just avoidance of the truth. JMHO!

I’m not sure who (although Kidfinders comes to mind) has George and Cindy convinced that they can survive by starting a foundation and offering “life-changing” advice to others with murdered children, but at some point true reality will set in. They WILL have to find a way to support themselves by going back into the workforce. The people around them now should be encouraging them to get counseling, not only for their mental well-being but to transition back into the world of us working stiffs.

    Ideas – LOL!good one! that’s prolly what she’d say.

Niecey just pointed out that George’s “essay” has the Fox news logo on it. I think that means that Fox owns it now, as in George got paid “licensing fees” for it. They must have some bills to pay. . . . .or maybe another trip in the future. will these people ever stop?

Good grief–I hope that’s not what that means–He was paid for his lousy essay? That would be beyond disgusting.

The Anthonys should put a media logo across their head, not just on the essay. They are bought and paid for.

As reported, this “ESSAY” was written during Thanksgiving…….so why did it take all this
time to bring it to Fox now?

IMO Under the direction of Spindy, she made George go before the cameras think he would
    get more sympathy than she would……..and she’s right……everyone hates her……and she’s
    right again.
However, George failed miserably……..he gets an F with his ‘ESSAY”……it’s all about HIM
HIM HIM……sounds alot like the EVIL DAUGHTER HE RAISED.

If anyone was put under a microscope….it was CAYLEE.
You remember CAYLEE, George…..the child your child murdered.

At this point in time I don’t believe either one of them could conjure up much more than a head shake in disbelief from anyone.

On Rick releasing e-mails to the public:

I am not a huge fan of what Rick did in terms of family loyalty, but his release was the first hard evidence we the public had of the dysfunctionality of this family. Up to that point, everything Cindy was stating to the press could have been true. She sure made it sound that way. His release of the e-mails completely discredited her.

I have also tried to put myself in Rick’s shoes. Cindy and George constantly complain about the media attention and twisting of information, yet they invite the media and release twisted information. Rick was mostly an innocent bystander caught in the glare of KC’s actions.

Rick knew KC was a liar. Rick knew the kind of actions of which KC was capable. Rick knew KC had stolen from and hurt his mother. Rick knew Cindy was blind to all of this.

I can only imagine the public pounding that Rick took just for being related to KC. Most likely, he heard stuff from his co-workers, news hounds, and neighborhood every day. He was placed in an impossible situation, either defend KC as her uncle or distance himself and his immediate family as quickly as possible.

Rick attempted to get Cindy to see the truth or to at least stop spewing lies on television. He tried to prepare her for the worst, which he believed to be inevitable as he was sure KC did it. Once Cindy cut him off, I believe he saw releasing the e-mails to the public as the only way to defend his own family and his mother. Rick seems like a bit of a hothead and probably was not thinking as clearly as he could at the time because this was not the best course of action, but I fully understand why he did it.

I am not attempting to defend Rick or his actions, just to bring clarity to the scenario. I have often wondered what I would have done in Rick’s place. I would like to think I would have kept it in the family, but I am not sure that was possible in this case.

I hadn’t looked at Rick from that perspective. I can see where he might have felt he had no other choice but to take to the internet to try and reach his sister who had cut him off and to try and save the reputations of the rest of the family. (but I still say even if he did have good intentions in the beginning, once he started on the blogs, his reasons for continuing were anything but noble.)

Good Morning!…1st time visitor….Great post, Mystery…followed by great comments on the Pathology of this family. In the beginning of this sad,sad saga,I felt great empathy for George & Cindy, but as the investigation on Caylee unfolded, and discovery became public, that veil of emotion for them, blew away like a Category 5 (hurricane). It is simply amusing that Casey & Co.,think that they should be exempted from protocols of the Law,Society,etc.etc. Then go on a media Campaign to drum up support for their daughter in which they have failed miserably in every aspect. George, how did it feel to get flipped off in court,by your “flesh & Blood”with your support. You & Cindy will not visit Casey, because she is uncontrollable, always has been. Nothing that Geo or Cindy say and do will “humanize” Casey. She is one of those “Bad Seeds”that will not grow into a positive existence. ” God Bless Caylee” , Geo & Cindy, should feel relief, they were likely too be next to disappear.

I am a mother and a grandmother. I have never had to live the agony that the Anthony’s have had thrust on them. I do not know how I would react, but I am pretty certain that I would not be the rational human being I consider myself to be today. One thing I know for sure is that if I lost one of my grandchildren I would be inconsolable. If my child were the one accussed of causing the little one’s death it would be impossible for me to be rational. I pretty certain I would be near insanity. That said, I would hope some little voice inside me would scream, “You will never bring back the grandbaby, God gave you this child even if there is a possiblity they are responsible for your worst nightmare. If my child did do such a horrid thing then they have possiblity of not only lossing their life, but their soul. He trusted me to be there until He takes me home” It is not the easy thing but I believe it is the right thing.

Sorry I missed your comment! I agree with everything you said–especially the part about Casey being a bad seed. Although, I believe George and Cindy were responsible for fertilizing and watering that seed and are, therefore, partially responsible for how she turned out.

    Again, sorry I missed this!

I believe that George and Cindy should stand by their daughter. What I don’t believe is that they should help her get away with murder. If she killed Caylee she should pay for it. As her parents, the Anthonys’ of course should support her and be there for her—guiding her to tell the truth and take responsibility for her actions.
