Has Jose Baez improved his image?
Apparently he has according to some recent juror surveys .
Ya gotta love Kathi Belich! Our gal friday has uncovered some jury surveys from some of the cases Jose Baez has defended in the past. She zeroed in on one case in particular in Osceola County where he questioned potential jurors in December 2008.
The comments from those possible jurors might lead one to believe that Jose Baez’ motives were not exactly pure as the driven snow, if you know what I mean.
Some of the comments:
“Ambulance chaser and rat,” “a jerk” who “should find another line of business,” “not a good lawyer” who is “full of himself” and “is out to become famous.”
Bill Shaefer, (bless his heart), kindly gives Baez the benefit of the doubt by suggesting that people were just angry with him because Caylee’s remains had just been located when that particular survey took place. He may be right,(although according to Belich, at least half of those surveyed say they knew very little about Casey Anthony’s case) because it appears that people have lightened up on Baez in the year since those surveys were taken. Recent questionaires show the negative comments aimed at him have dropped considerably.
So in the span of a year, Baez has improved his public persona? Maybe his ability to question jurors has improved, but nothing I’ve personally seen or heard over the past year would lead me to feel that my initial opinion of Jose Baez was wrong. To the contrary, I think it was dead on.
