Casey Anthony’s defense investigates George Anthony

July 20, 2010

We may now have a little insight as to why George had on his frowny face in court last week.

Now that the defense is spending taxpayer’s money, they are required to reveal just how that money is being used.  The bulk of the roughly $4000.00 spent so far has gone to a private investigator. George’s suicide attempt is just one of the “leads” the defense is investigating.  They have spent a lot of time at the Hawaii Motel in Daytona , the scene of George’s so-called suicide attempt and at the Daytona Beach Police Dept going over records. They’ve also investigated Jesse Grund, Cindy’s choice for a scapegoat, and poor old Roy Kronk, the man who had the audacity to actually find Caylee’s remains.

George’s testimony at trial could obviously be devastating to Casey’s defense.  What he told the grand jury must  have been damning because it was instrumental in getting a 1st degree indictment against Casey. I can see where they might try to discredit him as a reliable witness, but does it justify trying to set him up as the murderer of his granddaughter?  Bill Sheaffer thinks it’s possible, and that Casey’s accusations of sexual abuse may be step 1 in the process.

“He was the last person to see Caylee, along with Casey. The duct tape came from his house. The heart stickers came from his house,” Sheaffer said.

If the “George killed her” theory isn’t believable,  making George out to be unstable, and her family dysfunctional could be, and  might be a way to avoid the death penalty for Casey.

Baez told Channel 6 News that George Anthony’s suicide attempt may convince a jury to spare Casey’s life in the penalty phase of the trial if she is found guilty,  because it shows how Caylee’s death has affected the family. He added that he plans to prove Casey’s innocence, but he has to “prepare for the worst case scenario.”

Bill Sheaffer talks about investigation

Interesting!  I believe without a doubt that George has some whack-o issues–how could he not, right?  But, could he possibly have murdered his granddaughter?  Granted, we aren’t privy to everything pertaining to this case, but there sure doesn’t seem to be anything out there that points the finger at anyone other than Casey.  Casey Anthony doesn’t strike me as the type of person who would  quietly sit in jail with a zipper on her mouth if someone other than herself  killed her daughter.

I know the defense has an obligation to try and develop a case for their client’s innocence–or do they?  My guess is they know the truth, and have known the truth almost from the beginning.  That truth involves no one but Casey Anthony.  Wasn’t their real obligation, then, to do their best to save their client’s life as opposed to proving her innocence?  (Remember all their hoopla about “knowing the truth”, it would be shocking, it would prove Casey’s innocence,  and it would not be revealed until the trial?  That was a bunch of hot air! (Just ask Mr. Macaluso))   Now, it seems that pushing someone else under the bus is the only way.  Why didn’t Baez bargain  for her life early on in this case BEFORE the death penalty was on the table, before all these experts were brought in, before all the high profile attorneys were hired, before so much money was being wasted?  It’s a mystery to me…….or is it?

Greed is a fat demon with a small mouth and whatever you feed it is never enough.     Janwillem van der Wetering

    ITAMYSTERY,,,good to see you back..

We all know now that Casey is the killer and that
the defence is throwing anyone and everyone under the bus.
If she was innocent the story would not change and the people
involved would not change. I realy feel sorry for George , in the begining all he did was tell the truth,of what he knew then. I am sure he knows the realy truth now,but I woulnder if he is just going to take it sitting down?Or if he will spill the beans on what realy happened????

Hi glen! Glad to be back.

I felt sorry for George early on. He’s between a rock and a hard place of his own making. He started out with “doing the right thing” and telling the truth, but quickly reverted to his current, “protect my daughter at all costs” stance. I think that George sees himself as a man standing on high moral ground. But, in reality he stands on shifting sand. He may allow himself to be seen as unstable, but he won’t let himself be the ultimate scapegoat in the end. JMO

Hey Mystery! I can’t help but remember George’s shift, from it smelling like a dead body, to ” I had no idea garbage could smell that bad”. Can’t remember what show that was on, thinking Larry King. I have little twinges of sympathy for George, as I believe he loved Caylee and I do believe he loves Casey, but I think he caved to Cindy’s rule. He’s always had his own set of issues, but he did initially try to do the right thing, before Cindy found out he was doing it.

nicey..I think tht George changed his tunes with Cindy on his back pushing him to lie for thier undeserving daughter.(HOPE I SPELLED THA T RIGHT)i FORGOT WHO AND WHEN but, George said he did not like all the lying…and I think that is what made him try to suicide…any one married to some one like Cindy I can understand that felling..
I think he did the right thing in the begginning and with that
witch of a wife had him change his tunes. I noticed on the stand
the other day that Lee still says the same thing he has said in the past docs….maybe that is why he stays out of the lime light and is not persuaded to lie like Cindy has suggested to him….jmo

If the suicide was a ruse, I don’t see how he would qualify for admission into the hospital days following, unless they were making special allowance due to the case and the hoopla with sending the police after George and his pings. For the usual Joe on the street, unless he has a spectacular health care co., there has to be a serious suggestion of suicide to be admitted. Perhaps these hospital records would be sufficient to validate George’s instability, even though to us, a pizza and drink don’t. At least he got a lot writing done that night. Shows you what a guy has to do to get a little away time from his wife, when his wife is Cindy.

    Niecey,

It was on Larry King. He’ll pull on his big boy pants in the end and stand up for himself if he sees himself headed towards real trouble. I think he very definitely loves Casey and loved Caylee. He wants to do the right thing, but then, he knows the right thing will destroy Casey—–and then again there is that pesky Cindy buzzing around his head threatening to sting him if he makes a wrong move….George is in what is called a QUANDRY!

    Ideas

I think the police might have had him committed for observation for 48 hours and that might be standard proceedure in a case like that. I agree that for them to hold him as long as they did, there had to be some sort of issue that the hospital felt should be addressed. Even a fake suicide would raise some red flags, maybe as many as a real attempt.

Hey Mystery! Good to see ya! 🙂

So here’s where I’m confused. Baez the Incompetent thinks a jury will go softer on the DP if they believe George was on the verge of suicide due to the distress of Caylee’s murder?? He thinks it should be a mitigating factor? Cuz I remember in the Scott Peterson trial, the jury was specifically instructed during the penalty phase that they COULD NOT take into account the emotional impact that executing Princess Scotty would have on his family (particularly on his sick mother). In short, the law said that “family distress” could not be a mitigating factor in their decision whether or not to impose the DP. So is it different in Florida? Apparently Baez is under the impression it is….

Hi Eggy!! Nice to see you, too!!!

You are right! Soooo, is this a ruse to throw everyone off track from the real reason he’s investigating George–to create reasonable doubt that Casey was the only one that could have killed Caylee? It couldn’t possibly be that he would be spending money investigating George’s suicide attempt for reasons that could not be used. Baez not know the law? I’m shocked beyone belief! I think if they are investigating the suicide, it would be to show that George had such guilt for what he did that he could no longer live with himself….

  10. July 20, 2010 2:51 pm

hey mystery! glad to have ya back! the duhfence’s desire is to lend reasonable doubt in the eyes of the jury. they will target anyone they can,——and they have— to lend credence to reasonable doubt. imo, i do not believe ga was going to committ suicide, however, i do think he was definitely a tortured person. by throwing ga under the bus, the dreamteam is doing what they do best————–nothing! now, who will be their next victim?hmmm—-maybe cindy?! casey is the one who murdered precious Caylee, and i believe the REAL dream team will prove just that. the reasonable doubt “humbug” may play a role in the verdict, dp vs lwop, but i think the jurors will not take the bait. the guilt that ga suffered was through his inability to use his gut instinct and stand up to two sociopaths who ruled the A household, and the feeling that if he had, he would not have lost his precious granddaughter. it definitely was , and still is, a no win situation for him. sadly, he is well aware of that.

Hi Mystery and All. Hi Egg! Baez is comparing apples to oranges, it does not compute in the scheme of events. Daughter kills daughter, George ‘attempts’ suicide later, then Lee buys a turtle. Where does he think there is any kind of connection?
With his supposed suicide, drinking the ‘whole’ six pack, taking a few pills and substaining paper cuts, does not make a suicide attempt in my book. Plus the fact that he texted many people to let him know ahead of time! He called River to come over, she didn’t, he is married to a woman from Hades, and his daughter killed his grand baby. He was crying out for attention and being depressed, knowing that his whole life sucks. Again, Baez grasping at straws.

I think it’s terrible that they our now trying to put the blame on George. And all Baez is trying to do is blame everybody else but Casey. Let’s face it Casey is the one that murder her. Why wouldnb’t Casey let her father look in the trunk of the car? Because she had her
in the trunk and didn’t want her father to see her. Maybe next week she will put the blame on Lee or Cindy. I hope that this Judge put Baez in his place and tell him that they got to get off Casey team and make her take the state lawyers. She is getting away with murder and she is the one that killed her daughter. And what about her giving the cops the run around.

I think the Judge Perry should get rid of all the dream team. And make Casey take the state lawyers. They our putting the blame on everybody else but the one that did it.
And who does Baez think he is trying to not get them phone calls in. Baez himself is nothing but a big fat leir and the judge is got to start pudding him in his place. I think that the Judge should just put Casey to death. And they would save the tax people lots of money. Why did she wait 31 days and give the cops the run around. What there she is gulty

Hi Mystery and everyone here, all of you have great points. Mystery you nailed George’s situation, you said he is in a “Quandry”. Yea, a big one. I totally believe George loved Caylee with all his heart and she was his reason for getting up every morning, and he loves Casey even knowing in his heart she is a liar/thief, no good, and the killer of his Caylee, yet still she is his daughter, but he is struggling with allowing Casey to get away with what he knows she has done to his precious Caylee, but he also knows with the death penalty being back on the table the odds Casey getting that sentence verses life is is like playing a crap shoot, which will she get? If he helps save Casey by lieing he turns his back on justice he knows Caylee deserves beyond any shadow of a doubt. I believe after Casey trashed him so badly with claiming he molested her and she went so far as to trash Lee as well with the same claim George sees her more clearly than he ever has before and what she is truly capable of, so what does he choose to do? It is an unhealthy state for George’s mind and body to constantly be in. I don’t believe George would actually commit suicide though i am sure he feels some days he would like too, but i do feel he may have a fatal heart attack before the trial get’s here. Casey will sell out any member of her family to save her rotten neck, that i totally believe including Lee.

Patricia, love your post. so true.

The best Baez and Pops Cheney are going to be able to do for Casey is wave a white flag and say we surrender~~ Baez got involved and stayed in the case for the money and notoriety he so wanted and that is why he wanted Casey to go to trial, but however i do believe he never thought it would end up with Casey facing death row as a possibility so i think he is really sweating the fact that he just might get his client executed due to his greed. What shady people like this doesn’t realize until it is too late is that Greed has a way of coming back to haunt you in many forms and many ways~~

Baez and the web he weaves!!

I don’t know if I was mis-reading the hearing, but it seemed that the prosecution was being on the kind side with Cindy, helping her say what she felt and her motives during that day and that 911 call. Linda seemed to help and lead Cindy more than the defense did, to help her get to the point of the questioning, etc.

    hello all…
I to fell sorry for George, except I can not and will not let him off the
hook for not standing up and give Caylee a cahnce to rest in peace. It is a shame
that it has came to George being set up. Let’s see…
Cindy , Casey, and Caylee home alone June 15,had a huge fight between
Cindy and Casey,(Same evening Cindy and Caylee in the back yard pull until Casey
sopposingly came home from work, but Cindy already knew at that time Casey has
no job, and lying)Cindy is probalby whatting to pounch on her as soon as she walks.
Cindy claims that Casey to start Caylee’s bath, Casey did accordding to Cindy.
George the next morning says he saw Casey and Caylee leave around 12:30
( I think)that is the last time Caylee was seen by he grandparents, and friends.
Remember Casey friends said she fell off the face of the earth.
    I have two possiable ideas;
1 during the fight Caylee was left in the pool because we know that Cindy
was waiting to confront Cindy and I do not beilieve that Cindy can do this
with out a argument , she is the queen b in this house.Caylee could have drowned
and it was an accident.Panicing they taped her mouth so that the whole skull would stay
together, I don’t realy think this way is the truth but would explain the clorafourm in the
back yard they paniced and hid the body in the swamp..

2 Casey partied while Calyee suffocated in the trunk of her car.
She used the clarfourm to knock her , put tape around her mouth
so when she woke up no one could hear her cry for help. Casey came out
to check on her and found her dead. Kept Caylee in the trunck until she
could get in the house for the things she needed to to wrape Caylee in and
borrowed the shovel from neighbor and she tried to barry her the best she
    could in the swamp.

But this is just my thoughts on what happened. Either way who ever did this
needs to pay. But I realy truley believe that George knows what happened and
he is lying because of Cindy egging him ok..I can not stand her…
