Casey Anthony’s defense to question Roy Kronk

July 30, 2010

Today defense attorneys are scheduled to question Roy Kronk, the meter reader who found Caylee Anthony’s remains.  Casey Anthony’s attorneys have previously suggested that Kronk could have been the one responsible for the disappearance and murder of her daughter, Caylee.

There has been no evidence provided in support of this claim to date.  HOWEVER, there are, apparently, some weird coincidences surrounding Kronk and his “discovery”.   Kronk seems to have a penchant for searching wooded areas.  Could this  unfortunate habit  help the defense destroy his credibility?

An incident that occurred in 1997 has been uncovered.  Kronk called authorities in Kingsport, Tennessee to tell them they would find several stolen guns and other stolen items he had stumbled upon in a wooded field.  According to the police report, LE searched the area but nothing was found.  Fast forward to 2008, 11 years later,  and we have  his repeated calls to LE  that eventually led to the discovery of Caylee’s remains, also in a wooded area. Just a coincidence?

COINCIDENCE: (noun)

  1. An event that might seem to have been arranged although it was really accidental.
  2. When two things happen at the same time, at the same place, or to the same people that seems surprinsing or unusual.

While I would agree that Kronk’s behavior could and should be filed under the heading, “Odd Habits”, (Heck, I’d even give it a prominent position on my top 1o “It’s A Mystery To Me!” list),  I DON’T agree that it proves anything–not even reasonable doubt.   Kronk may well be, as has been suggested by people that knew him, a person that looks for ways to make himself  out to become a “hero” of sorts in the eyes of a family and world that sees him as something far less. (Pathetic, but not a crime)  Or, he could simply get his jollies from taking crimes from the headlines, searching for, and solving them.  A treasure hunter so to speak. (Creepy but not a crime.) Who knows, and who really cares?  He found a little girl that needed to be found.  If much more time had gone by without her remains being recovered , there’s a really good chance nature would have made sure she was lost forever.

So where is the  physical or even suggested evidence that could logically connect Kronk to Casey Anthony?  The defense would have to prove that a connection + a motive for killing an innocent 2 year old existed in order to show that Roy Kronk had access to a live Caylee AND access to Casey’s car trunk.  Beyond THAT,  they would have to convince a jury that Casey could have realistically driven around for days “searching for her daughter”,  oblivious to the smell emitting from her trunk until Kronk found a way to get rid of the “evidence”.

Local 6 called Kronk’s attorney for a response to allegations against him. He said there is no need for a response, calling this, “One of the many sideshows in this case.” Kronk’s attorney asaid his client has nothing to hide and points out that he is not the one on trial.

    Hello everyone,
Because of this case, the children will have no one to help find them , the searchers will not want toget involved due to being put on a hot seat just for helping out. I feel very sorry for Kronk’s , I do not believe he had anything to do with Caylee’s demize and ecause he did do a good deed he is being put threw a ringer for what? When all is said and done peoples lives will change and be destroyed for a innoccent person that all they wanted to do was help.(hope I made sence)

I have always wanted to do something like this , but now I do not think I would get invoved out of fear of being destroyed along with the families of victims that get destroyed too.

Bozo and his puppets need to have the strings tighted up and just make a deal so that more lives do not get destroyed. jmo

    look what mason say!
Defense attorney Cheney Mason told reporters the Anthony team is focusing on “establishing reasonable doubt in various aspects of the case.”

WFTV’s Belich noted that this was the second time the defense had deposed Kronk. “They smeared him after his first deposition, releasing videotaped statements from disgruntled family members,” Belich said. Belich noted that an ex-wife accused Kronk of binding her with duct tape and that duct tape was found on the remains of Caylee Anthony.

The attorney for Kronk today dismissed the ex-wife’s allegations as ridiculous.

    bozo makes me grazy!

But Anthony attorney Jose Baez took time to weigh in on coverage that his Kissimmee home is in foreclosure. WESH-Ch. 2’s Bob Kealing said Baez “joked” about the reporting, but Baez sure didn’t seem like he was joking.

“The next time you want to send helicopters over my house, let me know,” Baez told reporters. “You know how much helicopter fuel costs these days? I would have gladly have taken photos of my house, inside and out, if you would have donated that money to charity.”

Baez looked utterly serious. Kealing reported that Kronk and his attorney would talk to the press after today’s deposition.

At noon, stations previewed the deposition. Baez said the defense would talk to Kronk about everything. “There are a lot of statements we’re concerned about,” Baez told reporters. “We’re hoping Mr. Kronk will tell the truth.”

To that, WFTV-Ch. 9’s Kathi Belich added, “There’s no indication that Kronk has ever lied.”

    Hi Venice

I think I tend to agree with you at this point. It’s a rather delicious joke when you think about it though. Casey has the defense she deserves–which is no defense really. The pack of vultures supposedly working to save her sorry neck will, in the end, be the ones to wring it. 😆

    Hi Mystery,

You are so right. This case has gotten so out of control, that it’s mocking how the United States Judicial System really operates. I tell myself daily….”how is this continuing to happen in this great country of ours”? This is NOT how American Justice is supposed to take place! When will this insanity end, and give this poor baby, Caylee, some much needed peace:(

    mikka!

I’m good! Hope you are, too! Yes, unless there is a key piece of the puzzle missing here, Kronk is not going to end up being the scapegoat. There’s just no way to connect the dots between him and Casey. That car is not going away, and it can’t be ignored. They’d have better luck trying to blame it on George or Cindy–and that’s laughable as well.

I love it! Judge Perry is NOT the judge I’d want to have if I were trying to work the system! lol.

    Hi Glen!

I hope that doesn’t turn out to be the case, but sadly, I fear it already is and was before Caylee was found. You read about it every day. People stand idly by staring as someone is robbed and beaten because they don’t want to get involved. A neighbor ignores a woman’s screams as she’s beaten senseless by her husband or boyfriend because they are afraid of getting involved. Children wander around unattended and neglected because the people that see what’s happening are afraid to get involved. It’s very sad, but even sadder, it’s understandable.

Mikka–Ya gotta love Kathi Belich! She tells it like it is and isn’t afraid to look these people in the eye while she says it. The truth is that there is no reason to believe Kronk is lying, and as I said above, there is no indication that he ever had any ties to Casey. Without a tie to Casey, there’s no way to lay suspicions on him because the car, for sure, doesn’t tell lies. It is what it is! Caylee was dead in the trunk of Casey’s car for a considerable length of time while she was in possession of it. End of story.

I do understand the Defense has to try everything they can to establish reasonable Doubt for their Client, at the same time it is really getting old for the Defense to try to through Mr. Kronk under the Bus just because they are desperate!
Myself I really don’t care about Mr. Kronks Personality or Past as strange as it might be, he is the one who found Caylee’s Remains and for that we should be thankful for.
It was bad News for the Defense and their Client when Caylee’s Remains were found, the Theory of Caylee being alive couldn’t be used by the Defense anymore, no Wonder they are trying to discredit Mr. Kronk like they are doing with all the other important Evidence in this Case which can really hurt their Client.
The Defense is desperate and will go after any one they can to try to establish reasonable Doubt. In the End the Truth will come out at least that is what we should hope for, for Caylee’s Sake. JMO

Hi Hilde–I agree they have to do what they can, but they are beating a dead horse here for sure. It’s really hard for me to believe they still (if they ever did) believe their client to be innocent.

I understand that an attorney has to defend his client, but where’s the line? Is there a line? Is it okay to destroy other people’s lives to defend someone when they know that person had nothing to do with the crime? Apparently not….

Yes, they are desperate to find anyone or anything to create that elusive “reasonable doubt”, but like you, I believe in the end justice will be served. It just may take a while….

WESH and WOFL-Ch. 35 also turned to Jose Baez’s thoughts about the coverage that his home is in foreclosure. “I’ll tell you the rest of my problems, if you’re interested,” he said. Evidently it was a joke, although he said it wearily.

    kronk is innoncent,cma is guilty!

    from orlando news,

Evans, meanwhile, said he provided prosecutors with receipts proving that Kronk had car problems on the day before he found Caylee’s remains to dispel any suspicions about why he took that day off from work.

Kronk is currently out of work and no longer working as a meter reader for Orange County.

“I think he’s being used as a mechanism for the defense to criticize law enforcement investigating the case,” Evans said. “He is the person who permits the defense to question the police investigation and the prosecution of the case of Ms. Anthony.”

But Evans said he has counseled Kronk to take the high road.

“There’s a trail of people who have been stomped on in the interest of trying to protect or defend Casey Anthony,” Evans said. But, he said, “If you allow yourself to come across as a combatant in a case like this, you lose if you win.”

He added that the defense team’s attempts to shape some of its messages in public – rather than the courtroom – have “backfired on them to some degree.”

Baez noted that Kronk was accused but not charged with kidnapping back in the early 1990s, an issue Kronk discussed in early 2009 on national television.

“He claims he was wrongly accused of a crime,” Baez said. “The presumption of innocence is very important to him. He should know exactly how Casey Anthony is feeling right now.”

It is the job of the defense to create “reasonable doubt”, but it is not their job to purposefully railroad innocent people. I don’t feel sorry for Mr. Baez and his foreclosure, or that his personal life is being put out there. There goes the old girl again. 😉

Lubbock Texas Girl, i would like to know the answer to that question too. Jill kerley was the worse of the wives and you could tell she was lieing through her teeth. She couldn’t even look straight at the person she was telling her lies too. Kept walling her eyes all around as if she was looking for a cheat sheet to tell her what to say next. Hi John–I like your avatar!

I don’t think it will matter if Baez lines the jury box with ice cream sundaes—–the scoop of vanilla–plain and simple, the prosecution will offer, will win in the end. The unadulterated facts–the 31 days, the car trunk, “It smells like a dead body in the damn car!”, the duct tape, and Casey’s actions will speak plainly to the jury.

Vanilla– hold the fudge and hold the nuts.

    I really believe that.

Yes, it was so clear that Kronk’s ex-wives were all about revenge. Why else would you air your dirty laundry in front of the cameras? Their combative marriages and the murder of a toddler is like comparing apples to oranges, IMO

Just a ruse by the defense to muddy the waters and the reputation of a man that should be lauded as a hero–first for actually stepping up and following through on his hunch in the first place, and second for being the one to find that little lost baby.

Baez has never acted like Casey was a stranger client so maybe he should be investigated. He did allow Casey to stay at his office for six hours a day when she was out on bond, was hugged up to Casey with the umbrella over her head with his arm around her when she got out on bond. Casey instead of being a grieving Mother in a panic when she got released on bond instead of frantically searching for her baby she flew in the next day and made a pan of brownies for Baez and took them to his office, cindy claims casey would have had to have help, hmmmmmm, she how this works Baez.
